I’ve had the misfortune to drive past it - Charles’ views on architecture are imo incredibly out dated and old fashioned.

Architectural design is of little importance to many of us,
A roof over our families heads is of the utmost importance, with affordable heating etc.

His nibs and I were talking about those the other day, he was born in one. There are still a few around, they've lasted a surprisingly long time and as I recall were usually quite spacious and pleasant family homes, with decent gardens too.

Ahh brilliant, as I recall they weren’t supposed to last but lasted a lot longer than expected, how times have changed .
Life seemed more carefree in many ways back in the fifties.

Bridgeit I think life was a lot more straightforward back then . I sometimes wonder if all our 'progress' hasn't just made life more difficult and complicated in some ways. I don't think we can argue that that in many ways we live differently and have more, but I think we could argue that how it is now is 'better'. Or maybe it's all rose tinted glasses and nostalgia.

Ahh yes NellG, I suppose each generation has its strengths & weakness., & if it is rose tinted glasses then I am happy to keep mine on?. Best wishes

I grew up in a prefab. There was a stigma attached to it. Children in the next estate where I longed to live made fun of us. (They use a tin opener to get into the house lol)
I hated it. I wouldn't tell boyfriends where I lived.

My gran had a prefab. I loved it. It had the first fitted kitchen I had ever seen with (Miraculous) a FRIDGE!!!! She had a huge garden and grew raspberries. Raspberries and cream straight from the fridge was fantastic.

The prefabs were new mum chose on plan ours opposite a red telephone box. It was lovely an estate not far from Camborne town in Cornwall There was a pond down the road called Billy Berts Pond we played finding tadpoles jelly fish, ha. And up the road was a play ground, across from there was a few shops.

Prefab was my favourite house.
So everything handy and convenient

There were children to play with run around with and no tv till about 10 years old. Stayed there till 11 then moved up the hill to a bigger house, for more family moved in together.

My husband lived in a prefab in Wythenshawe as a boy. He loved it. Wythenshawe park was his garden! And they had a fridge!
