Is that the same Prince Philip who warned exchange students to China that they'd get "slitty eyes" if they stayed too long?
Thought so.
Quik question (daughter w new baby)
Some news about our H o S
RF family want their 1969 documentary to be taken off air. The Queen was talking in it about a governor that looked like a gorilla, in one little clip, of docu seen on twitter.
Queen doesn't want her various shares and their values in companies made public too embarrassing. And lobbied in the 70s to be made exempt from new law. She has millions in off shore accounts.
P Charles land owner lobbied to be exempt from new leaseholder legislation that would have allowed homeowners to buy the land their property sits on.
And when people from the Duchy die with no living relatives P Charles gets the money, with other landowners around the country money goes to the treasury
Then there is Andrew
The 20,000 Sandringham Estate gets millions in subsidies
Queen gets her Wendy house refurbished to her own specifications including a new thatched roof.
Meanwhile in other news a little boy stole a tin of soup because he was so hungry, never mind.

Really trisher so you find Phil the Greek acceptable and no way racist ? You call your friends X the Greek when speaking of them ,appalling
nanna8 It's racist and denigrating in this instance because his title is His Royal Highness The prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh. So to reduce his name to a diminutive and a place is a deliberate slur.
So it's not calling him Greek alone that's the problem, it's the intent behind it too.
It would be a bit like me calling you the Aussie Granny - rather than by your chosen user name. You might not be offended by it at all, but I would be doing it with a lack of respect for you, and therefore it would be wrong of me.
Which also means I should stop calling the Queen her Maj or I too will be enacting a double standard.
Alishka his racism doesn't excuse anyone else's.

I agree 100%.
Apologies if this has already been posted, I haven’t managed to plough through all 26 pages of this thread.
Obviously a very hot topic!

I found this enlightening.
OH well, at least it’s not about racism.
If only people who live perfect lives could respond, this thread would die.
Let’s do the whole thread all over again.
trisher My FIL wasn't one for gossip. He would occasionally tell a few of the things he knew, but very rarely. It was a closed world one where things were kept under wraps. He didn't particularly like it. It wasn't his sort of thing but he was expected to attend because of the job he did. The PP remark was just a passing comment when he was talking about the events he went to and how ridiculous he thought they were.
So he actually witnessed PP trawling for girls, shop girls being his preference? Your FIL then reported it as a rare passing comment. Sounds an awful lot like salacious gossip to me.

Summerlove I don’t think they’re being paid for the interview, but don’t quote me on that.
My understanding was not, not even a charity donation.
But many here seem to keep saying they are
“ A spokeswoman for the Oprah Winfrey Network confirmed that the couple won't be collecting a pay cheque and said that no donations are being made to their charity.”
Which beggars the question, why a two hour interview ?
To talk about his life in the army, to talk about her acting role in a tv soap.
Now Meghan has been accused of bullying. It’s also interesting that she was seen at some event wearing gazillion dollar diamond earrings. Pretty revolting they were too - looked like chandeliers dangling from her shell likes. No matter. When commented on, she stated they were borrowed. Turns out they were a gift from the crown Prince of Saudi who only two weeks before had ordered (allegedly ha ha) the murder of the journalist in the Saudi embassy in Turkey. Before you all pile in with your outrage I know the RF has obviously received many gifts from dubious characters but to claim they’d been borrowed when she knew they were a gift and to wear such egregiously expensive earrings in public two weeks after such a gruesome murder, I believe, is telling.
The more I hear about Meghan the less I’m inclined to sympathise with her plight of hard done by victim of the British press.
Megan is no victim
In the interests of balance I read several versions of the earring story - they were gifted to the Crown and not M personally, so they were borrowed from the Crown. I read one version wherein the press was told they'd been borrowed from a jeweller but the source of that info isn't clear.
My view is that the press are now scraping the barrel for a 'gotcha' story to redress the balance of the criticism they've had over their treatment of her.
I can't get excited over earrings and personally think any suggestion in the press that they were a deliberate choice in any way other than they went with her outfit is more than a bit tenuous.
I can get a bit agitated over her lawyers demands for the Mail to publish front page apologies that run for six months online though. She won, apologise once, move on.
It's one thing to hold the press to account, quite another to hold them hostage.
borrowed from the crown surely not, she wouldn’t borrow from the very people who caused her such unhappiness, who
didn’t ask if she was ok during her first pregnancy.
NellG don’t think she has a problem with holding anyone to
hostage .
According to the tv report they were a gift to Meghan not the Queen.
It was in 2018 Annie, so before all that.
I can't know the minutiae of how she felt about any of it, I'm not a mind reader. I can guess, but that's a different thing.
I do believe that thing stated as fact should be checked out - not to criticise the poster, but to balance the 'argument'.
It is now reported ITV is ready to pull the plug on the interview if Phillip’s health worsens, bless them, why not pull the plug incase airing it worsens his health.
I think what Harry is doing is brutal,
tickingbird Thats why I did some reading - there are conflicting reports but more sources said they weren't present when the gift was made. As I understand it all those kinds of gifts are 'to the Crown' regardless of who they are intended for - it's one of the ways they try to avoid accusations of bribery and corruption.
I didn't see the TV clip, just your comment but would I be right in guessing it was Piers Morgan? If so, he isn't known for being clear and fair in his comments, especially re M.
I think it's obvious I'm not an M fan, but I do think fair argument is due to everyone.
If that's true and I hope it is Annie, how bizarre that a commercial tv channel has more thought for the D of E and the RF than H, his GS
.
Indeed Smiles - although I wonder if the Oprah interview is now a runaway train that he couldn't stop if he wanted to?
Smileless he can’t think of his grandfather, he is too wrapped up in himself .
Going on tv for 2 hours for what ? Revenge , nasty , nasty , nasty
It is very sad to see the accusations being made on both sides prior to this interview it does the Queen no favours, she must be feeling so sad for so many reasons.
In fairness, I’m not sure that Harry and Meghan can influence when the Oprah interview is aired. They can I suppose, express an opinion, but whether not anyone in America would take any notice, is another matter.
Thank you for clarification re payment/non payment for the interview Summerlove and Lucca.
Having said that I do wonder why it was decided to air the interview on Commonwealth Day, which is a particularly important day to the Queen.
