Some news about our H o S
RF family want their 1969 documentary to be taken off air. The Queen was talking in it about a governor that looked like a gorilla, in one little clip, of docu seen on twitter.

Queen doesn't want her various shares and their values in companies made public too embarrassing. And lobbied in the 70s to be made exempt from new law. She has millions in off shore accounts.

P Charles land owner lobbied to be exempt from new leaseholder legislation that would have allowed homeowners to buy the land their property sits on.

And when people from the Duchy die with no living relatives P Charles gets the money, with other landowners around the country money goes to the treasury

Then there is Andrew

The 20,000 Sandringham Estate gets millions in subsidies

Queen gets her Wendy house refurbished to her own specifications including a new thatched roof.

Meanwhile in other news a little boy stole a tin of soup because he was so hungry, never mind.

Denigrating anyone based on their nationality, race or the colour of their skin is hate speech. Unacceptable, inexcusable and beneath every single one of you who has justified it.

Anniebach Tue 02-Mar-21 18:46:19

Galaxy use of those names are cruel

Summerlove Tue 02-Mar-21 18:53:49

Are they getting paid for Oprah? Has that been confirmed somewhere since I questioned it yesterday?

As far as the interview airing, It’s very unlikely they could stop it at this point. They never owned it. Oprah’s production company does

My family are 100% Derbyshire on one side, and Welsh, English, and German on the other. I was born in Cheshire and live in Hampshire. What am I?

Agreed 100% NellG.

And can I add, beneath everyone who thinks its funny to keep that conversation going.

maddyone Tue 02-Mar-21 19:00:38

Summerlove I don’t think they’re being paid for the interview, but don’t quote me on that.

hollysteers Tue 02-Mar-21 19:00:56

Prince Philip has made so many inappropriate remarks himself over the years, a couple on Gransnet just evens it up.
I’m sure he would laugh himself.

Oprah is different because they are getting paid for it.

Are they?
It’s always Been my understanding that you do not get paid to go on Oprah. If anything it’s seen as an honour.

I’ve seen no press stating they are being paid.

Just that the production company (Oprah’s) is in for a huge pay day

“A spokeswoman for the Oprah Winfrey Network confirmed that the couple won't be collecting a pay cheque and said that no donations are being made to their charity.”

Anniebach Tue 02-Mar-21 19:18:41

hollysteers no matter what Prince Phillip has said, calling him Phil the Greek is racist , or do you think in this forum we can all sink to racist posts and it’s ok ?

trisher Tue 02-Mar-21 19:19:50

I suspect PP didn't object at all to the name "Phil the Greek" it gave him a little bit of glamour and was probably useful when trawling for girls (and a Prince-even better!)

Anniebach Tue 02-Mar-21 19:25:39

Doesn’t matter what you suspect trisher ,it’s racist

trisher Tue 02-Mar-21 19:29:42

*Did I say it wasn't Annie? Just that Phil might have quite liked it. He has made the odd racist remark himself.

tickingbird Tue 02-Mar-21 19:37:45

Why on earth would he like it? As for trawling for girls trisher, I doubt he’d have to. Have you been reading the gutter press again?

Anniebach Tue 02-Mar-21 19:51:47

trisher calling Phillip - Phil the Greek racist or not in your opinion, he is a British citizen, has been since 1947

Oopsadaisy1 Tue 02-Mar-21 20:00:45

Some very nasty and spiteful posts on here, I hope those who have contributed to trolling the RF will hang their heads in shame.
Where are the GNs who will go out of their way to help people ? Or is it all just for show?
Now is the time to be hoping that PP pulls through, I can’t imagine how bad a wife must feel that she can’t visit her husband in hospital whoever she or he is and some of your comments sicken me.

Grandma70s Tue 02-Mar-21 20:08:48

Phil the Greek is what Private Eye called him decades ago. I doubt it would worry him.

Anniebach Tue 02-Mar-21 20:14:24

But it doesn’t matter if it worries him or not, just a simple question , is it racist ?

No tickingbird I'm quoting my late FIL who worked in the city and went to lots of social events attended by the great and good many of them for "gentlemen" only. He told me PP had a preference for "shop girls".

Mollygo Tue 02-Mar-21 21:10:52

One thing I’ve noticed as lockdown has continued is that there is always someone who knows someone who knows that someone did something.
It’s almost always pointing out others’ perceived wrong doings and it’s always hearsay.

tickingbird Tue 02-Mar-21 21:16:59

Trisher In others words gossip and hearsay. Strange how you rail against the same when it’s about H & M!

Rosie51 Tue 02-Mar-21 21:32:12

Precisely tickingbird. And isn't it funny how some posters are allowed to assume motives and thoughts of PP, and repeat groundless gossip? I wonder why it's assumed he'd not be offended by xenophobic nicknames.
I've noticed that too Mollygo almost got me singing
"I've danced with a man, who's danced with a girl, who's danced with the Prince of Wales" smile

tickingbird Tue 02-Mar-21 21:40:19

Rosie51 Spot on. It’s those double standards again. Do as I say not as I do!

Actually a witness report tickingbird who do you think was at these events? My FIL wasn't one for gossip. He would occasionally tell a few of the things he knew, but very rarely. It was a closed world one where things were kept under wraps. He didn't particularly like it. It wasn't his sort of thing but he was expected to attend because of the job he did. The PP remark was just a passing comment when he was talking about the events he went to and how ridiculous he thought they were.

nanna8 Tue 02-Mar-21 22:43:07

Just tell me why it is racist to call someone Greek? On behalf of my Greek friends they would find it racist to suggest that was a denigrating term. Appalling.
