...a new freezer.

I've got one coming on Sunday. I'm so excited which when you think about it is so sad. It's not that our old one broke it's just a bit too small. This one will give me the extra space I need. When I was younger I got excited about Christmas, birthdays, holidays, nights out, nights in, fun things in general. Now it's a freezer hmm

Davida1968; am expecting a delivery of a pair of new slippers any day now. (Old ones fell apart). Can't wait.
No more having to choose between dressing gown+ ordinary shoes and dressing gown+ cold feet!

Last time I felt this good about buying something new to wear was when I was of an age to look forward to the Saturday night disco (remember those?) Definitely pathetic!

By careful selection of bird food we have finally persuaded a pair of chaffinches into our garden and we have two pairs of long tailed tits. Great excitement. Sadly the scally street (feral) pigeons and a large flock of starlings have also found us. It is like the mods and the rockers when they arrive. All the little birds fly off to the safety of the bushes!

A few years ago when I was in my late 50s had my smear test. The nurse told me I had great pelvic floor muscles. I came out walking on air. There was a time when a compliment about my hair or my figure would have done it for me. smile? I guess age has changed my priorities.

I was excited about getting an automatic washing machine.only had a deep sink and wringer as vowed to save for one of those fancy machines I'd seen in films. My nieces and nephews all sat on the floor watching the thing whilst the adults discussed the mysteries of how it worked. Most recent excitement was arrival of new set of crochet hooks enabling me to finish off a blanket GDs bed.

I think it was Sarah Milligan (comedian) who said that these days she gets excited starting a new tea towel. I know what she means. It's the small things for me too. My nicotiana seedlings coming up has been this week's delight.

I am really looking forward to the delivery of a fitted cotton sheet from John Lewis.

I am saving the excitement of shopping for a black lavatory brush and holder, and possibly matching bin, until the shops re-open.
Which will be......?

We now get excited about our weekly food shopping excursion and I loved my new cordless vacuum cleaner which arrived last months and replaced our Dyson. DH got excited yesterday when his new model arrived, he has completed a model steam train and is now starting on a classic car. We used to get excited about planning our holidays but that is some way ahead.

I get excited about our weekly grocery delivery. Someone different to talk to at last, even if only for a minute or two. And they're always so cheerful, even in the worst weather.

SusieFlo Fri 12-Feb-21 12:18:51

How lovely of him?

Bijou Fri 12-Feb-21 12:19:11

I too get excited about my grocery delivery. I live alone and the only person I actually see or speak to is my daily help.

That last one was meant for Sillynanny123

I was excited to buy a glass jelly mould for 50p from a car boot sale, pre lockdown, and couldn’t wait to use it.

But disappointing when I did though, as the jelly stuck a bit.

I do Family history, today I was excited by a death certificate!!

I am also researching my Family History and know that feeling. Hope it was the right one. Last one I ordered I thought was the missing piece of the puzzle but alas it was the wrong person.

Nicegranny Fri 12-Feb-21 12:34:06

I got excited about my “Flash Power Mop” arriving ordered from Wilko.

I hasten to say that lm so busy doing nothing I haven’t used it yet.

Nicegranny Fri 12-Feb-21 12:35:31

What a disappointment finding the wrong person died ?

ElaineRI55 Fri 12-Feb-21 12:35:36

Any deliveries - from a drill bit my DH has ordered to a pair of sale trousers for me and anything in between.

Well, you have to get rid of the rats somehow. Probably, Peasblossom would not be using poison if she knew anyone who had a terrier.

Lockdown makes it difficult to borrow a dog or cat that will happily spend the day ratting. and setting and emptying snap traps can be difficult.

It seems unkind to criticize a person's choice of poison when we don't know what other options she had.

I’ve been excited today by having a drive out to the local tip! I’ve had stuff that needed to go for eleven months and finally loaded up the car and took it. Although social distancing was in place the guys there were very helpful and we had a laugh. It was great to have a chat with someone new!!

Sara1954 Fri 12-Feb-21 13:02:40

Another thing that excites me is a delivery of logs

Scottydog6857 Fri 12-Feb-21 13:06:55

Our rather elderly dishwasher finally gave up the ghost a couple of weeks ago! ? It wasn't easy to arrange in these current difficult times, but we have a new one being delivered on 19th February. We have had to arrange for the installation of it separately, as Currys have suspended their installation service during the pandemic! ?
I really cannot wait for it to arrive! My husband thinks I'm bonkers getting excited about a machine!?. However, I do a lot of cooking - always have done - and being something of a neat-freak, I hate having my kitchen surfaces cluttered with lots of dirty dishes, so for me the dishwasher is a godsend! ?

Sara1954 Fri 12-Feb-21 13:14:09

Scottydog
We had a new dishwasher delivered a couple of weeks ago, having waited ages to get the one we wanted, it worked once and packed up, and they can’t come out to fix it until Covid restrictions are listed.
