Hello Everyone smile
Just wanted to get this in first wink

Fancy some verbal jousting; a bit of rumble; a good old punch up?

Well, you're in the right place! Enjoy!

Any ideas for potential topics please?

Esspee Wed 17-Feb-21 14:06:24

I accept that Peasblossom is the correct person to lead this discussion, given her clear qualifications.

Peasblossom Wed 17-Feb-21 14:10:34

I don’t know where the idea that I gave a degree in cushionology has come from. I suspect it is a ploy to discredit me later.

My view is that of the ordinary woman on the sofa,

Bathsheba Wed 17-Feb-21 14:13:26

Is it OK to throw cushions on the floor when there are too many on the sofa? Or might that engender feelings of being unloved, and be bad for their mental health?

DiscoGran Wed 17-Feb-21 14:17:44

Peasblossom, really? I was just trying to be inflammatory. ? Which is another thing about cushions, don't get them too close to the fire......

Doodle Wed 17-Feb-21 14:17:53

Does anyone know what sort of sofa’s cushions prefer.

Do they like ones with arms to stop them falling off? Is leather too cold on their bottoms?

Doodle Wed 17-Feb-21 14:19:09

Bathsheba I never knew you had a violent streak in you. Everyone knows cushions should be handled with gentleness.

FannyCornforth Wed 17-Feb-21 14:23:12

Just putting in my two pen'orth now

1. I am very much pro-leggings
2. A light hearted punch up is my intention. I thought that all arguing on here was recreational?
3. Lisa I really wish I knew what you think I'm up to. I'd ask you to pm me, but, of course, it's very much off the cards at present.

Ellianne Wed 17-Feb-21 14:26:03

Did you know you can order whoopee cushions on Tesco groceries at a £1 each?

Peasblossom Wed 17-Feb-21 14:26:43

Well, that was fun?

Off to bring the bin in now. (Another topic?)

Ooops?

GrannyGravy13 Wed 17-Feb-21 14:27:16

FannyCornforth I see your leggings and raise skinny jeans!

DiscoGran Wed 17-Feb-21 14:30:41

Well, I have to say I am a bit wary, as I once got my head bitten right off by someone when an (admittedly not very funny, but tame) post upset them. I wouldn't mind but the topic of the thread was something like "have you ever put your foot in it" or something like that.

Kamiso Wed 17-Feb-21 14:33:39

Oh dear! Cushions can be very contentious. My OH’s family never had cushions - possibly to do with their Huguenot ancestry. I decided the living room needed brightening up, prior to covid, and bought five cushions from Dunelm.

OH always removes the one from his armchair before sitting down and so does my son. Now my son in law has started doing it as well. I still think the room looks better with cushions but, obviously, cushion haters are perfectly entitled to their view.

V3ra Wed 17-Feb-21 14:34:05

We're a cushion-free household.
I can't abide the way some people have so many they monopolise the sofa to the extent that the only way to actually sit on it is to put the cushions on the floor.
That leads to the worry you're making the cushions dirty/causing offence/implying your hosts' furnishing style is at fault. It doesn't make for a relaxed visit in my experience, nor does having to turf their dog off the sofa before you can sit down. Our dog isn't allowed on the sofa either.
We deliberately chose big squashy sofas that are extremely comfortable without cushions. So much less hassle.
I sometimes wonder if I'm a bit selfish or just an over-the-top minimalist ?‍♀️

Aliens do exist vampirequeen.
They are running this country and they are definitely not from the same planet as i am.

Kamiso Wed 17-Feb-21 14:38:32

Should clarify son did his cushion removing prior to COVID and son in law did his cushion removing between lockdowns.

Aveline Wed 17-Feb-21 14:41:13

I can't believe you're discussing cushions at a time when so many don't have access to them. grin

trisher Wed 17-Feb-21 14:44:55

I have herd that some of these cushions are actualy alien listening devices or worse still harbour aliens!

MissAdventure Wed 17-Feb-21 14:46:06

Well, I'm poor, but I have worked hard and managed to progress to 4 cushions and a throw.
2 of those cushions are larger than average!

Sickofweddingcake Wed 17-Feb-21 14:47:00

Have we started yet?

grandmajet Wed 17-Feb-21 14:47:25

Can anyone tell me how a scatter cushion is defined? Is it because you scatter them casually on the bed? Or is it because you have to scatter them round the room to go to bed? Either way they are a b....y nuisance!

Sickofweddingcake Wed 17-Feb-21 14:51:12

Or is it, by definition a cushion to be given to a 'scattery' person?

Casdon Wed 17-Feb-21 14:51:39

There’s one seminally important but so far overlooked place for cushions. In the dog’s bed.

grandmajet Wed 17-Feb-21 14:52:30

Maybe they don’t want to be defined, they prefer to be free to express themselves in any way they choose.

MissAdventure Wed 17-Feb-21 14:52:54

All very well if you have a dog.
Some of us can't afford one because we're too busy buying cushions. smile

timetogo2016 Wed 17-Feb-21 14:53:40

Ooooh PamelaJj that looks like a William Morris cover.
I love his designs.
Sorry if i am mistaken.
