Soop love the sofa, just my cup of tea, unfortunately MrSar wouldn't like it, he likes leather.

Soop - he really loves you!

Grandmabatty Fri 05-Mar-21 17:36:52

‘Evening All’
?

Chilly but dry here in South Manchester. After we’d eaten at 7pm, we put on our coats and hats (always think of the old C&A store when I say that!) and went down in the lift and round the corner. Outside (well in a huge conservatory all windows open) our favourite Italian restaurant a local DJ is playing and singing along to ‘swing music’ for 24 hours bless him, to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

We stood on the pavement outside, singing and clapping along with a small, socially distanced crowd, to ‘Leroy Brown’ putting a note in his collection bucket. It felt good - to be out & about and supporting a worthwhile event. Himself asked was I going to take him down a cuppa at 4am?

I can feel the frisson of excitement and total surprise over your new furniture from here soop!

Wishing you all a peaceful night ahead. x

‘Goodnight All’.

Urmstongran Fri 05-Mar-21 20:37:03

I’ve Googled ‘Latitude Vive’ too. I’m nosy very curious.
Is this the one?
If it is, it’s beyond gorgeous!

NanaandGrampy Fri 05-Mar-21 20:40:06

Evening all,

That cartoon did make me laugh NannyT ! Spot on.

Ohhhhh new furniture - that’s exciting Soop . Looking forward to seeing photos. Well done MacS xx

I love the pheasants feathers and I love them on them best I think . We had a chilly walk in the forest today to give Sam a long run before his op on Monday .

I’m planning on a lazy weekend ( is there any other type? )

Happy days all xx

NanaandGrampy Fri 05-Mar-21 20:40:45

Wow ! Soop is that the sofa ? That’s a work of art x

Urmstongran Fri 05-Mar-21 20:42:43

No, I think these are they.
In Gold.

I have sofa envy soop!

Charleygirl5 Fri 05-Mar-21 21:36:00

Beautiful- and it looks comfortable enough for a young black cat to join you but that will be later in the year.

Hellogirl1 Fri 05-Mar-21 23:15:28

Gorgeous sofa Soop, well done to your other half. I was looking at that one when I was choosing my new sofa, but the rest of the family were horrified, even though I absolutely loved it. I would have gone for the other, more purple one, as my new colour scheme is mostly grey. A certain feline will love it when she gets the courage to advance further into your home.
Back to the vet tomorrow for Mia`s check up. I hope Duncan`s dental bill was a lot less than Mia`s.

cornergran Fri 05-Mar-21 23:52:40

That is indeed a beautiful sofa soop, you both deserve the treat. We borrowed a friends holiday home a while ago and spent the week admiring but not daring to sit on a chair that looked very similar, too afraid we’d spill something on it! She was very amused when we told her, assured me the pattern hides a multitude of spills.

My scales are also broken, no idea how it happened. hmm. Having collected my bowel prep stuff and pre procedure diet sheet from the hospital I can predict the scales will soon miraculously mend grin.

Lucky us will see our bubble son tomorrow, we’re so pleased we can but in a way it makes me more sad we can’t see the rest of the family who really need support just now. Contrary aren't I?

Goodnight everyone, sleep well.

muse Sat 06-Mar-21 00:07:21

It's the midnight hour and I haven't caught up with everyone's news of the day.
Seems someone is getting a new sofa grin Soop. Sofa and chair are so comfy, I can't bring myself to out them so looking for a fresh look with a new set of loose covers. Can't agree with MrM on the colour.

Busy day filled with a very long walk with Mya. Met a lovely local couple who made a fuss of her. Thought she was a puppy. She's back to 100% bounce.

Will do big catch up reading all posts in the morning. Just having a tot of Red Leg rum before bed.

Puzzler61 Sat 06-Mar-21 08:17:06

I didn’t pop into the kitchen yesterday but am very pleased to see good news about Mia and Mya ?, annsixty you overcame your “wretched” day. Well done , and the soop ‘s are getting fine a new sofa and chair. Your room will instantly be brightened and perfect for Spring soop.
Sorry to hear Duncan has a few less teeth BladeAnnie but he is a trooper coping well with dental treatment at his advanced age! ?
I may have missed Grandmafrench - has she returned from the long day out for the vaccine? I hope all is well with her.

My DH has been called to shifts at a newly opened Vaccine Centre which is great news for our area. It’s a huge Hub and they have the capacity to jab many arms in the coming months. His duties are varied, but it’s a beautiful sunny morning if he is posted outside “Meeting + Greet” ing. He finds pleasure in helping and seeing the elation of some people who have driven miles to get their first jab of protection.
Unfortunately he is leaving me in the middle of decorating our sitting room. A small annoyance, but no big deal. I know it is only a week or so away from completion. ?
I hope everyone is getting a share of the blue sky and sunshine that we have woken to today. ☀️ Have a good day all.

puzzler61 GrandmaFrench has just posted on the GM thread. I always think that it is the sister thread to this one. With many of the same posters on both!

I woke this morning and felt bad soop that I’d put up the photos of your new sofa and chair. I feel bad that I’ve probably ‘stolen your thunder’. I hope I’ve not annoyed you too much and I do sincerely apologise. I think I got carried away with the gorgeousness of your choice so I shared it once I’d found it!

Puzzler61 Sat 06-Mar-21 09:26:30

Hi Urmston and thank you, I’ll pop over and have a look.
(btw - I’m sure soop will recognise excitement and not mistake it for anything other, knowing you as a kind hearted lady).

soop Sat 06-Mar-21 10:41:03

Oh dear! Confession time. I awoke in the night with serious doubts regarding the suitability of the furniture in our not over-large room, together with books, paintings, etc., and had a wobbly. Yes! It is beautiful and I love the playfulness and Mr Soop agrees. I have cancelled the order. shock. I sat with Mr S and we went through the business of reconsidering. He remained in full agreement. I have had cold feet and therefore, the order has been cancelled. I shall now search for something more suitable. I shall report back to you lot later with, I hope, an update. smile

annsixty Sat 06-Mar-21 10:53:17

Good morning all.
A very chilly morning here which will keep me indoors, no change there then.
soop as is always quoted, it is a woman’s prerogative to change her mind.
I would have hated the thought that you would have spent the next few weeks doubting your decision and worrying if you had made the right choice.
If you sleep through the night after your next choice then you have chosen wisely.
A lot of “choices and chosen “ there.!
I have very few patterns in my house, dull to some but calming to me.
Hope everyone has the best day they can. x

polomint Sat 06-Mar-21 11:01:57

Just popping in as I've not been here for a few days. Looks like everyone has been busy doing various things, makes me feel so lazy that I must get a move on and get motivated to do something. Cupboards were cleared out months ago, maybe I should start on the garage! That will take weeks I'm sure, probably could get lost in there the amount of stuff that's been chucked in! Have a good day people

Grandmafrench Sat 06-Mar-21 11:26:21

Good Morning everyone from Sunny Off And On But Warm South of France.

soop dear, what on earth is the matter with having 2nd thoughts? You still have the most wonderful experience of having sat down with the ever-caring Mr Soop and his total agreement to your mood lifting idea. You were both in agreement and that's lovely, you then went ahead and ordered it. That's a small success chalked up to you both in these times of great greyness, boredom and anxiety!

If you're concerned that in a small room and with other fixtures and furnishings such wonderful colours might be a bit 'busy' - why not choose some new furniture in just one of the lovely colours that takes your fancy, and keep it plain. If you're trying to avoid greys or beiges, the world's your Lobster (as old Arfur Daley used to say!) Go mad and trawl the online stores for a complete style makeover. You know you want to!!!?

I am feeling quite positive and less weary after our epic voyage to the Vaccine Centre. Thank you for asking, puzzler, it was a huge success, but a bit stressful because of the time and travel.

As briefly as possible - woke at 4.30am, set off at 5.30am, all well until we were directed off Autoroute into trailing trucks on B roads for about 20 miles. I kept calm. There wasn't much to warrant looking at views, Brook, on account of firstly it was very dark, then it was very drizzly (seriously???), then it was daylight and very foggy. Only early excitement was hearing the most appalling row going on at a péage on the other side of the motorway, between two duelling truck drivers. One of whom really shouldn't have been in charge of a 16 wheeler in that frame of mine! I've never seen or heard anyone more wild and angry, ever. Didn't help that other truckers started blowing their horns for him to move on, whilst he jumped up and down shrieking at another driver. Who on earth has that energy first thing in the morning? Stopped for coffee and cake in an Aire, moved into 18 degree sunshine. Then huge traffic jam around Toulouse, my stress levels increasing by the moment, looking at the clock. However, my ever reliable chauffeur got us to our destination 15 minutes ahead of time.

Big queue for 20 mins, more of a faff than I thought. Entered, cleaned hands, gave name, ticked off on list, further queue, then to a receptionist who took details, and my temperature, then directed to a Doctor at the end of a huge hall, give him more details, discussed allergies. He then gave me two anti-histamine and asked me to wait for 30 minutes for these to work, then eventually I was directed into one of the treatment areas, where a Nurse gave me the vaccine. I tried not to cry - the relief.......
I asked, since an hour had already passed, if I could wait for 15 minutes in our car in the car park because DH would be wondering if I was o.k. No, sorry, I needed to sit for a further 15 minutes where they could see me. Finally, Mafeking was relieved! They had all been so kind and informative and caring. I almost skipped out into the sunshine and we went back onto the autoroute for a picnic lunch and some more exercise for our dogs before another huge drive and getting home safely after a 10 hour jaunt.

Had a 'bruised deltoid muscle' - how's that for medical information - but otherwise (fingers crossed) I feel good.

My second r.d.v. booked for 30 March seemed like a mission after our first trip. My clever DH found a local r.d.v. for the same (Pfizer) vaccine, booked it up. They confirmed. They then mailed to say, vaccine run out. He booked another, they did the same. He tried another area and TO DATE we've not heard that they won't have the vaccine. Fingers and everything crossed that we won't have to travel to another far flung destination to complete the vaccination.

You've possibly all toppled off your perches listening to this travelogue. Boring, or what?
Hope everyone is reasonably fit and well. I can see that moods are a bit wobbly - at least for some. Ann - hope you will soon stop thinking you're a nuisance to those who love you, and just concentrate on perusing the cocktails menu for when you are able to socialise again. Muse, glad you and that little dog are feeling more perky. The best of luck with the new "diet", corner. Such a palaver for you, but better safe than sorry. It's a necessary evil that we have to go through to ensure that we're kept safe. Do I recall you had a fall? Are you o.k. now? And soop too? Please stay upright everyone - we've got to get through these times relatively unscathed after all our efforts.

Have the best Saturday you can. All those I've missed, please take care. I shall trawl back through the posts and try to catch up very soon.

Stay safe, big hugs to you all ?‍♀️???

NanaandGrampy Sat 06-Mar-21 11:34:33

Morning all !

Actually Soop you've had the pleasurable bit of sofa buying. The choice, the decision , the surprise at MacS agreement. Its like buying something you loved in the shop and hating it at home. You got the pleasure of choosing AND the pleasure of getting your money back -its a win/win !!

Glad you got your vaccination Grandamafrench . The antihistamine's sounds like over kill for just the couple of reactions noted so far but hey - you got the vaccine and that's the key thing.

Nothing of any interest going on here. Spent the morning in the West Wing doing not much. Life is just a bit boring right now :-(

Hope there's some happiness in your day ladies x

Urmstongran Sat 06-Mar-21 11:39:48

I’ve really enjoyed reading the detail in your post GrandmaFrench thank you. It’s every bit as good as one of Marydoll’s novellas! I think it’s hearing news from other countries that’s so interesting. What seems mundane to you charms us over here! x

Grandmafrench Sat 06-Mar-21 11:42:05

Thanks so much Urms (you can go next time!!!!!!)
