Urmstongran I'm sorry to hear that you are poorly after your vaccine. I hope the headache passes off. My friend had a similar side effect and lost a day as she felt so horrible. ?

Sorry to hear about the bad headache Urms which jab did you have. Grampy had Pfizer and seems ok so far and it’s my turn tomorrow.

I could do without a terrible headache but better than COVID I guess . Feel better quickly x

I was lucky not to suffer any side effects of the vaccine, my only gripe is that Dawn and Rena each got a sticker, and I didn`t. I WANT ONE!!

Urmstongran, I felt the same after my jab two weeks ago, but it soon cleared up. Only now, is my arm aching again or am I imagining it? Not sure I want another one.
I, too, often preview my posts, but if you spend too long doing it, by the time you’ve posted the conversation has moved on and it’s no longer relevant. But grammatically perfect!
It’s a greyish day here and I do feel weary. So many husbands are lovely aren’t they! Grandpajet is ironing as I while away my time here.

Whilst there are so very many of you suffering with a whole range of issues,we too have just gone through another very strange and scary "episode"...........one that has truly frightened me to death,and though my dear man was Hospitalised for a further 2 days earlier this week,undergoing a range of further scans,x rays and tests there has been no conclusions...............so of course yet something else to fret about.

He now also has pneumonia, but is at least home,so we can but count our blessings yet again.

It is so difficult worrying and looking out for your beloved and I am well aware there are very many of you only now looking,watching and waiting..........Soop you for one with your dear man whom has some very worrying health issues that must have you forever on guard.

Just as well us "gals" are born wirth eyes in the back of our heads as well as at the front!

Yiayia Know what, I cannot think of anything that I really, truly want for my birthday. Apart from a yellow mini convertible. A long weekend in the Highlands is something I dream about. A gettogether with the family before the year is out...now that, would be ultra special.

Panache Dear lady, haven't you had to deal with more than your fair share of trauma? Life can be so cruel.
I am truly thankful that you were both brave enough to sell your previous home and move to your present one. You have companionship. You are not alone. Your husband is with you. He is being monitored by expert medics. It is the best place for him to be. Continue to take care of yourself. You have many friends here in the kitchen. Please keep talking to us if doing so is of some comfort to you.

Talking of baklava, a few posts ago, I like the one that has almonds in them. I think they may be ground almonds which made me think of marzipan. I make my own marzipan and have ground almonds on my forthcoming grocery order. I wonder if anyone can suggest some recipes that include ground almonds. Just a thought as since we are in lockdown I may as well try some new recipes and put them in front of my chief taste...my other half lol

soop, nothing so dramatic as a mini convertible for me. I'm having a Kia Picanto which the dealer referred to as a 'shopping car' which is just what I need. My senior GD used to suggest - when I was much younger - that I might need a mobility scooter. Cheeky madam! Now she's coming up to 30, she might have a different perspective!

Hello dear Kitchen peeps ! ? It's not in the least sunny today - I'm just being ironic !!

We know 'he' is your heart's delight, soop dear. But do hope he's not going to be difficult about that Mini Cooper. You can get lovely little replicas in a pretty box - (of the Mini, not MrSoop). Perhaps you'll have to be like me - I wanted a friend's baby donkey. She owned his Mum. He was called Rupert and had the biggest ears and the prettiest face ever seen on a Donks. We all know that they live forever and I'm not really at an age when I should be considering leaving a lovely little chap like that behind, so I had to refuse. I received instead a wonderful little donkey which sits on the bed. A low maintenance one which is properly toilet trained and has a neck ribbon! Similar thing with a puppy - years ago. I had to make do with a little chum for my toy donkey, until the time was right. I was also once given the most amazing little sheep called Shaun. He shared a pillow with the other two, but I did eventually have real sheep in a real orchard and lots of lovely lambs. So, as they are wont to say "everything comes to him wot waits" - though it's likely that you will have to make do with something else to dust for the foreseeable. So very glad your Glums have evaporated. Keep smiling and enjoying your new life of service to That Cat. x

polomint if you like sweet things like Baklava, I hope you'll like these which are equally sweet and will use your ground almonds.

Orange & Almond Chewy Biscuits
110g of Ground Almonds
50g (or less) Caster Sugar
Finely grated zest of an Orange
2 Egg whites - beaten to soft peaks
1 tbsp Honey
Icing sugar for dusting.

Oven @ 160 degs. Line 2 baking sheets with baking parchment and shake over with icing sugar.

Mix all ingredients to thick paste. Roll out small balls of paste on an icing sugar dusted board. Place on baking trays and leave spaces to spread, flatten only slightly. Bake 15 mins, leave to cool on wire rack and then store in airtight tin.

Perfect for afternoon cuppa, or any other cuppa. I often serve with chocolate pots dessert. The above amount makes lots. Half of the ingredients will make 10 small biscuits or 8 larger ones.

Not done much today except count my blessings.

Just ordered some flowers for a friend in Bradford whose 83y old husband died the last week in January. Obviously we weren’t able to attend his funeral and his passing was so very sad for her due to covid restrictions. It would have been his birthday next week so we all (my stepfather too) thought flowers on the day might comfort her.

Hope the evening ahead is peaceful for us all. x
