Good morning all from Polmont where it's very wet and very windy. I'm going nowhere today. I picked up my new specs yesterday and they are lovely and light. I am very short sighted so the lenses are incredibly thick but I paid extra for thinner ones and they're a delight. I really need to clean the kitchen today as I've let it go for a couple of days. I would be overjoyed and mortified if I had visitors call, in equal measure. Good luck at the dentist grandmattie and I'm glad you are feeling better Urmstongran. Exciting day today, off to drop in my blood pressure chart to doc, leave some books and magazines in the railway station waiting rooms and actually go into a supermarket, first time in weeks. Ran out of cat food, so presented her with a tin of tuna, which went down well. Also starting a new novel by Elizabeth Bowen, The House in Paris. Sounds nice, but I haven’t got on with her in the past, so we’ll see. A good book is important at the mo.

Good morning from Surrey where today it’s dry but windy. We had our jabs yesterday and by the evening i felt really tired and achey. Today, much the same but hope to blow the cobwebs away later with a gentle walk.

Gingster could you not just telephone the hospital? The switchboard will put you through to an office where your sister in law’s ward will be logged & then ask them to put you through. The nurse on the ward will tell her you’d rung and she’d be pleased to know family had enquired after her.

Taichinan what great news about your great granddaughter. She’s obviously a very talented young lady - no wonder you’re delighted! Lovely news indeed.

Did some window cleaning yesterday, phew, most activity I have done in months.
Lucky dip from freezer today for lunch, I actually found a couple of restaurant meals that I froze before the end of the year. Think we will add a glass of wine and pretend we are out for lunch.

Good morning from Malta. Sunny and 16°C but cold in the house. Our homes are designed to keep heat out rather than in.

I was run ragged yesterday looking after DD3’s puppy. He’s getting very lively and mischievous. My older dog tolerates him, just about!

Glad to hear Iris will be going home and I hope she makes a good recovery. Also glad you are feeling a bit more cheerful grandMattie. We all have those days when it is a struggle, I certainly do and I find it very hard not having my DH here to share the worries.

Hairdresser later then I shall pick up the puppy and look after him until DD3 finishes work. My poor floors will not stay clean for long, I washed them all first thing but two dogs pratting about soon makes it paw mark central.

Am now going to watch Djokovic playing Tsitsipas. It would be great to see the underdog win for a change but it will be a tough ask.

Good morning Mike and everyone, from a wet and windy Oxfordshire, although it started like this yesterday and then the sun came out and it was a lovely day, at least what there was left of it after I got out of bed.
Not feeling so bad today after my wobble, thanks for all of your good wishes. DH treated us to a fish and chip supper last night, our last day of being able to go out as we are now isolating ready for DDs op. She can’t wait to be able to walk up the stairs again!
Anyway not much planned indoors today, but I do like to hear everyone’s news,

I really am going to live life vicariously for the next 2 weeks or so and I’m relying on you lovely people to keep me amused!

Hope the lambing goes well on the farm, the sheep in the field down the road were noisy yesterday, so maybe they were moving them indoors too ? and poor Iris! Hopefully she will soon be as good as new, children do bounce back don’t they, (thankfully.)

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s raining at the moment but set to brighten up later.
I have a food shopping slot at 10 and then I am going to the garden centre for some early spring flowers to brighten the garden up a bit. Despite the rain and snow the soil isn’t too soggy.
Good news of Iris. Hope the dentist visit goes ok GM.
I’m still waiting on the vaccine call. I can book on line but all the appointments are a bit far away. I would have to drive myself so am a bit worried in case I don’t feel ok afterwards. Our local centre is for all the GP practices so isn’t online for booking, My turn will come.

Lovely to hear that Iris is doing so well, and also that Grandmattie and Urms are feeling brighter today.
Had some lovely news yesterday - DGD1 has received an unconditional offer of a place at Dance school! I saw the video of her performing the dance she choreographed - I'm not surprised she heard back so quickly! She is still waiting to hear back from the other college to which she applied and which is her preferred course so it's still ? -but so good to know she has something, come what may.
Off down to the town in a little while for a dental appointment - just a check up and nothing nasty I hope. Good luck with yours Grandmattie.
I shall then pop into the butcher's and fishmonger's - first time since December, and it feels like a definite step in the right direction!

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It is grey wet and miserable in South Yorkshire and I am in no mood to get up and do anything as I am full of cold. In fact, I’m going into one of those phases where I don’t care if I never go out again, but DH will not allow negativity in any form so I will have to pull myself round. So, today we are going to call over to DD’s with some of our butcher’s chicken pies, which SiL loves, and wave to GS (?who his mama referred to as a “stroppy teenager” yesterday!) and maybe have a walk around the woods - if the rain stops.
They’re taking their time, your girls, then, Sheep? My first born was like that - in no hurry!

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where we are only 4°C but at least no ice and snow. I am going to drive my car to the Dentist in another town this morning and I am a little anxious about it as I haven't driven it since Christmas. It's a bit noisy but it does start and a mechanic unlocked a seized brake with a hammer (the car not the tooth)

I am glad that Iris is up and perky again. What a trouper! and her grandMattie is happier doing nothing.
I'm like the Greek Penelope, unpicking the knitting I did yesterday and redoing it in the hope it will look a bit better.

My door bell has just rung and still in bed, I panicked. Who visits at that time, unless something is wrong? It was my daughter, worried about me.

I felt quite good yesterday, then all the vaccine side effects came back and I also had a bad angina attack. I thought I was heading to A&E again!!There was no rhyme or reason for it. My well prepared fakeaway Kentucky fried chicken was a complete disaster, I couldn't concentrate at all, so DH took over. YUK! He is not a cook, that is all I'm going to say on that subject.

DD has appeared to help with the Tesco delivery. Last week she helped, I'm still looking for items! ?
She gave us so much heartache when she was younger, but she has become the best daughter a mum could have. I don't know how I would survived the last year without her support. ?

GM, I can feel your pain, I hope your dental visit goes well. I have my big appointment next week to deal with the missing front tooth. I'm sure you will feel so much better after its done, I know I will! ? Glad to hear good news of Iris.

Beauregard, I love the idea of metal detection in your field. I'm fascinated by archeology, studied it at uni, as I had to have a science subject to complete my degree.
My dream detecting would be in Rome, where I would have a field day.

Gagagran your mixed kale salad sounds delish. Not keen on kale but mixed with all the other ingredients might give it a go.

I’ve just finished The Dutch House and enjoyed it very much. Book club Zoom today, but ive sent my thoughts on the book through by e mail. The Zoom session is usually 45 minutes and quite intense , so I’ll give it a miss. This months book is ‘A trick to time’ by Kit de Waal. I’ve read another book by her - ‘My name is Leon’ and I enjoyed that, so looking forward to this next one.

My elderly SIL is now In hospital and of course is not allowed visitors. She’s 80 miles away. It’s awful not knowing how she is. The only contact I have is her brother and he has little news of her.

Catch up day for us. Far too much excitement with a hospital trip yesterday to do anything sensible.

Good for iris, grandmattie. Wishing you a comfortable dental procedure and a pain free future. Keep being kind to yourself. I’d so love to be able to do anything in our garden, it’s too waterlogged to even walk on the lawns to reach anything. We’ve got some temporary path thingies, bright yellow, we used for our caravan, may dig those out and make a bridge if we (ever!) get a sunny day. Good news urms, same thing happened to me, not fun while it lasts.

Sheepandcattle your story about June reminded me of one of the ewes that grazed our land before we brought horses on to it. One was particularly friendly and came up to us. I mentioned this to the farmer who owned them and he said "oh, you mean Stuck". He explained that as a newborn lamb she nearly died and was brought into the house overnight to keep warm and be looked after. They fully expected her not to have made it the next morning. She wasn't in her bed when they went downstairs so they looked around and found her stuck by the fireplace, hence the name Stuck and her very friendly nature due to bring nursed back to health by the family.

and little Iris and her sister are doing well. The wobble days are awful but onward and upward. We can’t weaken now!
We have excitement today! We are off to the tip! The campa will take us and an old armchair to the local tip. We have our appointment.
