Good morning from Cheshire. Dry and bright . Zoom call this afternoon with two local friends. We will set the world to rights and sort out M and H ! Am afraid I watched it but won't comment as there will be loads of stuff on other threads !
So many of you have troubles at the moment. I think about you a lot. Wishing everyone a good day.

Taichinan Tue 09-Mar-21 09:58:08

Good morning everyone from a grey damp Angus coast. Hope all is well with everybody, as far as possible. No time to say more than hello as am off to the distant hospital for a 'procedure' on my eye to sort a macular oedema. Wish me luck and a whole flock of pink flamingos! ?????

GrannyOwl5 Tue 09-Mar-21 09:58:32

Morning everyone from the north Kent coast where there is a clear blue sky. A beautiful morning.

Towels will shortly be on the line here too, BlueSapphire. A walk into town later to run a few errands at the chemist and greengrocer.

The large London plane tree outside the house is earmarked for pruning today; it is the biggest tree in the street, described by the tree surgeon as being a monster, so it will be interesting to see how they go about reducing it. DH has prudently moved his car further up the drive!

Four out of five DGC returned to school yesterday; they were all excited to return apart from a few butterflies first thing. They skipped into school without any dramas, but some tears were shed by a few parents apparently. It was very quiet everywhere during the day - not much traffic or pedestrians- so I imagine there were a lot of parents lying in dark rooms with wet cloths on their heads! DGD1 is going back on Thursday after going in for tests tomorrow; she seems very unfazed by the whole process.

Thanks for all the photos and updates of maternity barns; nearly at the end Sheep.

Hope those unwell or in hospital have swift recoveries; those with worries or concerns have a better day

Have a good Tuesday. Stay safe

Good morning all.

It was lovely and sunny when I got up, as greyduster reported, but it's clouding over a bit now, unfortunately. However, it is dry for the moment.

I started to read the posts, but there are rather a lot, so thought I'd better post my comments before it gets to lunchtime, and go back to finish reading the rest of the posts afterwards.

Lovely lambs, sheepandcattle. You really must be exhausted, though, and ready for the end of lambing.

The cage looks cumbersome for Iris, grandMattie. I hope she won't need to wear it for too long.

Another nothing day today, though we did get out for a walk yesterday which was enjoyable, so will aim to go out again today - I've been doing far too much sitting around.

Well, I hope you all have the best day you can and ? for all our posters with sadness, worries or troubles.

Grandmafrench Tue 09-Mar-21 10:17:27

Cherry yaaaay! ??????? you’ll be Tigger again soon enough! ?

muse bet she appreciated your support. Try not to worry, we can only do our best - and we certainly try hard enough to do that.

Ellan what a day of very mixed emotions. No wonder you feel churned up. As head of the family you can’t avoid feeling like you do, but look how far they’ve come, look at the big and small successes from grief and struggle. Don’t let anything take that away. Fortunately you are articulate enough to make your many points and complaints and maybe with determination and inside support, you’ll succeed in changing enough that others don’t have to face what your little family did. But don’t let anger or resentment at the disgraceful treatment meted out by those who should only help, spoil what you’ve all achieved so far. Together you’ll be stronger and you’re going to be able to be together in not too long now, hopefully.
Hoping your strong words get to make an impact on social services - but hoping more that life continues to improve for your GD and her children and they get only sunshine in their family future. That’ll feel like your job well done. x

Good morning from dry grey Anglesey.
Great photos Ashcombe, how lovely of the teachers to go to all that trouble. Lovely story about them clapping the children in sheepandcattle, brought a tear to my eye just reading about it. I think we’re all a bit on the edge emotionally at the moment. Your lambs are so beautiful, I know we shouldn’t have favourites but I love the little black and white marble one.
Glad your tests are negative Bluesapphire, that should make you feel less anxious.
Of course we hope you find a whole flock of flamingos Taichinan. I recently found out that the collective noun for flamingos is a flamboyance.
So I wish you all a flamboyance of flamingos today but especially little Iris, bravely soldiering on with that awful cage.

Gwenisgreat1 Tue 09-Mar-21 10:34:30

Good Morning all from sunny Harrogate.
Welcome Grandmadinosaur my GS is 7 and has Down syndrome. He ran off happily to school yesterday! He loves counting, which his little cousin does not like, she is nearly 5 and only goes to school so as not to upset the teachers!!

Marydoll you will really have to take it easy, if you can't do it just don't try!!

Have just given the dog her Omeprazole, yes, she has it too!! and another trip to the vet with her at lunch time. She seems to be quite good being pricked and poked. Hate to think what the bill will be, might have to mortgage the house!!
Meghan was apparently suicidal and no one helped -aren't most people suicidal at some point, I was. I then decided there was something better round the corner, and eventually there was.

Have a good and safe day everyone

Hymnbook Tue 09-Mar-21 10:39:28

Morning everyone. I hope you are all doing well. Sunny here in Sherwood but chilly. Waiting for the chaps to come and service the heating. I hate having workman in the flat l feel very uncomfortable.

LauraNorder Tue 09-Mar-21 10:44:11

EV, I wish we could all sit sharing your crumpets and your troubles and give you some support and a big fat hug. brew.

EllanVannin Tue 09-Mar-21 11:09:32

Ah, LauraNorder. I'm really uptight this morning and in a bit of a flat spin as where to start first.
Crumpets are down the hatch, shower accomplished so I think I'll have a coffee before I begin with whatever my first task will be. Rough notes I guess to " enhance " them into the bigger picture.

Gwenisgreat1 Tue 09-Mar-21 11:17:36

Grandmattie Iris is a very brave little girl - my BIL had to wear one after a replacement knee op went wrong!! As a good Scotsman, he wore a kilt most of the time, but Iris might like girlie dresses?
Sheep your lambs are gorgeous, would love to cuddle them (not on I realise)
Ashcombe I shall have to find out if GDs school had the flags out, lovely idea. They weren't needed for GS, he just loves school.

EllanVannin Tue 09-Mar-21 11:25:37

Grandmafrench We'll get through this somehow. I have connections online should I need a barrister who specialises in Family matters.
Since singing the praises of where Ruby-Lou is in Durham, the child got in touch to say she had grapes for her tea ? So this now needs looking into. While D was here she'd received an anonymous questionaire online from where the child is. D couldn't answer all the questions because she isn't there to see and contact has been hit and miss of late too.

The on-side social worker had said that once the child turns 13 this year she can opt to come home. Everyone's in limbo here as no-one in authority seems to know what they're doing. Those children are missing their mum and my GD's devastated by the " put-on " smiles on the school photos. Only a mum knows these little things.
Thankyou for your kindness. x

EllanVannin Tue 09-Mar-21 11:26:30

In fact, thankyou all for listening to the trials and tribulations xx

Kalu Tue 09-Mar-21 11:27:08

A late good morning from a cloudy Glasgow. Literally cloudy for me as I had to take stronger pain killers during the night in the hope of getting some sleep?

More of the usual this and that and whatever type of day ahead.

Marydoll. Let your DH do the cooking as you really shouldn’t push yourself when you are feeling so bad.

EV I have followed what your poor GD is going through and it breaks my heart to read such heartless treatment is all that is being offered to help her. Frustration doesn’t even cover it!

Have the best day you can all.

EllanVannin Tue 09-Mar-21 11:36:02

Kalu. Much appreciated x

This whole thing isn't about " me", but nobody in authority has given me the time of day and I'm a great grandmother to the children----and on limited time realistically.
So it's all going down on paper to the complaints department.

Litterpicker Tue 09-Mar-21 11:37:23

Good morning from blue-skyed West Sussex. I managed to get out of bed a bit earlier than of late to make the most of the sunshine but so far have hardly stirred from the sofa apart from to make coffee to follow porridge made by DH. I have read several online newspaper articles and most of the posts on here. It’s exhausting going through the rollercoaster of emotions but feels good to connect with others all over the country - different lives but many shared experiences.

My GS (15 this week) has to go for Covid test at school today. If negative he will be back in school tomorrow. He had completely lost motivation at home. GD was supposed to go to college for a test, involving a bus ride into town. As they are doing building work there will be no classes in college for at least 2 weeks so her mum said “no”. Why risk picking up infection when she’s been at home seeing no-one since Christmas? What are they thinking? She will need another test before going in anyway. Fortunately whoever she emailed agreed.

DH is outside sealing gaps in his new shed extension so I’d better find my boots and get out there. I can’t believe how much there is to do in a 32 by 20 foot space. It would help if we didn’t keep redesigning it. We been here less than 7 years and this is its third incarnation.

Hope all with illness and worries find something to cheer them today.

hollysteers Tue 09-Mar-21 11:41:40

Good morning Mick and all from a mixed up weather wise northwest Lancashire coast.
Sad news this morning as one of my cousins passed away, not sure what the funeral arrangements will be.
Blood tests yesterday and a stroll around the village plus a little shopping. Volunteers have planted daffodils around the base of the trees there and they look so nice. Popped into the waiting rooms of the train station to look at the books available. Thankfully didn’t fancy any as I have so many anyway. Gazed into the two (closed) dress shops. Certainly saving some money, although I have ordered a red wrap over dress online. Never know online how it will be...
Thinking of the sick and worried.

Nannagarra Tue 09-Mar-21 11:52:58

Good morning from the Sefton coast where the sun was shining.
Love the photo of the balloons, Ashcombe. My DGD’s teacher treated the class to party food when they returned yesterday. We have a few yarn bombs in the area but the crocheted topper to the post box is stunning, Urms, and should raise lots of smiles. Just as uplifting are the photos from sheep whose stamina must surely be unrivalled. Her woolly ladies look so healthy and contented, as if they actually enjoy being photographed!
Iris clearly is one very brave young lady who deserves a huge pink flamingo. Mrgaga seems to be slowly on the mend too.
EV, with you at the helm your family will grow stronger and see a better future. (I’m glad you concluded ‘sob story’ - it’s what I was thinking but wasn’t brave enough to write.)
The pigeon nest, previously but not currently occupied, was removed yesterday. Ooh, the smell apparently! I’m glad I wasn’t there. It seems wood pigeons are quite attracted to nesting under solar panels: many of DS1’s neighbours have netting to prevent access.
DH is now encouraging me to leave the screen and go for a walk which I know will do me lots of good.
Interested in the common noun for flamingoes, I looked it up yesterday. Great minds, Laura.
Sending you all a flamboyance of flamingoes.
???????????????????????

Susan56 Tue 09-Mar-21 11:59:59

Ellan, I am so sorry for what you, your daughter, your granddaughter and the children are going through.Thank goodness your GD has you and her mum to help her fight her corner and that there is a sensible social worker on side.I really hope that positive progress can be made and a resolution for your little family.???

Muse,my daughter was diagnosed with hyper mobility as a child later the diagnosis was changed to EDS.Physiotherapy and diet help with strength and pain management. If your daughter has any questions send me a PM and I will try and help.

I too got a bit emotional reading about the teachers clapping as the children went into school.

Nannagarra Tue 09-Mar-21 12:00:44

Collective, not common!

Urmstongran Tue 09-Mar-21 12:07:12

I’m sure after producing a rough draft EV your final copy will be as direct and no nonsense as an Exocet missile. Take your time producing it. It’s your chance to set the record straight as the matriarch of your family. Deep breaths. x

brook2704 Tue 09-Mar-21 12:53:37

EV I haven’t really got any practical advice but just wanted to say how much I admire you for standing up for your family and doing the right thing. I know it must be difficult to get the right words down on paper and I wish you the very best in getting some answers and instigating some changes for the future

Jaxjacky Tue 09-Mar-21 14:02:38

EV you go get ‘em JR...
It was said about me years ago and I think applies to you:
‘ J is like a Jack Russell, put her down a rabbit hole, never mind the twists and turns, she won’t give up until the rabbit’s flushed out’
Maybe not the best analogy, but you get my drift, best of flipping luck with your perseverance x
