Has anyone got a different perspective after watching last evenings interview?
I am be really interested to hear if any of you feel more or less pro the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

No arguments there from me NellG. I didn't know about Phillipa of Hainault Jaberwok, that was interesting.

And I can definitely see Princess Margaret!

trisher Diana wasn’t dependent on private security, she refused security from the met security team. She chose to be protected by Fayed’s security and even then ignored them.

Which would pretty much turn her son against private security I think, wouldn't it?

Princess had the most startling blue eyes. I wouldn't have thought she'd be a dead ringer for Edward III's wife! The Hanoverians all seem to be of solidly germanic stock.

Aveline Thu 11-Mar-21 17:04:36

That's Princess Margaret btw

I think the security question is interesting. I would like to not have a royal family at all but I dont actually resent paying for security. I think they are at risk whether they leave the rf or not. I think it's a price you pay if you choose this system. Archie is at risk because he was born into this family and he will always be at risk. So if you support the idea of a rf it's the price you pay. I think if we ever changed the system then there would need to be a strategy about reducing security over generations but if we have a rf then I think that's the price the public should pay.

His choice to accept or ignore what a security team advises, Diana chose to ignore, the security team couldn’t be blamed for that. If she had taken their advice she wouldn’t have died that night,

Whingingmom Thu 11-Mar-21 17:14:20

Didn’t change my opinion. Whinging hypocrites, no insight into their own ironic behaviour and no empathy for others.
Interview obviously staged and they decided on what questions were to be asked.

CazB Thu 11-Mar-21 17:28:06

I quite agree with all that has been said. I always thought Meghan would leave eventually, either with or without Harry. I feel so sorry for the Queen, the interview was an insult to her. What Harry said about being "cut off financially" was laughable.

Well if he was stupid, yes possibly, but if you hire security then choose to ignore their advice, you can’t complain when you put yourself in danger!

Queen missed chance to condemn racism, say equality campaigners

The Queen missed a crucial opportunity to publicly acknowledge and condemn racism in her response to the allegations made by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, equality campaigners have said.
Casting the issue as a “private” family matter meant there was “no public accountability” from a public institution and the head of state and Commonwealth, they said.

It doesn’t really matter whether Harry is for or against private security, the simple fact that both he, and you trisher, have failed to grasp is that Harry isn’t entitled to security provided by the state by virtue of the fact that he stepped back.
Is that really so difficult to understand?

Can you not see a similarity to the portrait I posted? It's just an observation though, not a statement of anything other than my perception and I wasn't making the comparison as closely as considering eye colour.

Only if he's a complete idiot.

It's not a hill on which to die, for either you or PH.

William would be unwise to speak to Harry, we could have to endure another interview in which the pair repeat the Conversation

Polly4t42 Thu 11-Mar-21 18:17:38

She is an actress and playing to her audience. Shame on them

Unless I’ve missed something (entirely possible), no one has considered Harry’s military service when considering security for him, his wife and children. Prince Edward didn’t serve. Harry did, he was in Afghanistan. It’s reported he was upset when the press reported his whereabouts, resulting in him being taken out of active service.
He and his family are more at risk of kidnap or assassination than other family members who weren’t active in Afghanistan.

Ah yes - the years of military service and two tours of duty. Never mind, water under the bridge and probably exaggerated.

Anniebach Thu 11-Mar-21 18:26:42

Harry had protection when in Afghanistan, Gurkha’s .

Anniebach Thu 11-Mar-21 18:27:56

Andrew was in the Falklands war

No more than any other ex serviceman. He wasn’t there on Royal duty and it’s up to him to protect his family. He says that’s why he left the RF. He can’t have it all ways.

soozieee Thu 11-Mar-21 18:40:38

Two or three times they stated that they ‘started discussions about leaving 2 years before they actually left’ does that mean before or straight after we paid for their wedding?

Iam64 Thu 11-Mar-21 18:50:24

The Falklands was indeed a terrible war. I’ve worked with men traumatised by it.
Afghanistan is a different kind of war, Harry was a specific target by Islamic extremists. I expect he remains at risk

NellG Thu 11-Mar-21 19:08:58

Iam64 Then the MOD should pay for his security in recognition of his service and his special risk. But I don't suppose the tax payer would wear that either.

Of course, any one of the RF could fund his security out of their own pocket, but as he is in possession of his own millions there is no need.

Anniebach Thu 11-Mar-21 19:17:44

Many are targets for extremists

overthehill Thu 11-Mar-21 20:33:49

This drivel about the Firm keeping her passport and not letting her have it till she returned to Canada......lies. She took 13 trips abroad since meeting Harry and would have had to have a passport.
