As the actress said to Archbishop ....

Charles will want any accusations put in writing so that they can be thoroughly investigated; all parties including staff involved will be questioned.
It's not just a whinge about family, this is a large organisation, serious allegations have been made and everyone involved or with any knowledge will be asked to give a statement.

Did it ever occur to anyone that maybe the minders had the passport with them and she personally didn't have to show it? Or do you imagine she and all the other Royals queued up at Passport Control with the masses?

Does it ever occur to anyone that the very act of taking someone's passport from them could make them feel trapped?

Especially for Meghan as her history is in another country. I’m sure it wouldn’t bother any of the British born Royals to nearly the same degree

Harry wasn’t willing to put things in writing, as I recall. He was concerned it would fall into the hands of the press.

Bit silly really, when you think about it. If he was abroad at the time, he could have got a trusted courtier to fly back to England and put it safely into Charles’ hand.

One more plane journey to add to all the others of course.

Jaberwok Fri 12-Mar-21 07:50:35

Or, perhaps he could have come himself, had a meeting with his father, put it into writing and locked it away for ultra safe keeping. Courteous and safe?!

lemsip Fri 12-Mar-21 07:53:16

They needed to put their plans in writing, set it out in writing.. no good just saying it on the phone. That is I think what Charles was meaning.
They hadn't made any accusations until oprah!

As I've said---once an actress always an actress.

Agreed. Must have the limelight however it’s obtained.

According to M’s pals they have kept a record of emails and letters ready to be brought out when needed. Let’s call this for what it is - blackmail. My opinion of these two couldn’t get any lower and I’d happily out my name to it.

tickingbird Fri 12-Mar-21 08:17:23

Apparently CBS, which aired “the interview” was the same channel that aired pictures of Diana slumped dying in the back of the car. I wonder if Harry knew that?

Jaberwok Fri 12-Mar-21 08:34:33

Dear God, blackmail indeed, I wonder if they're keeping the name of the 'racist' for a 'rainy' day? I wouldn't put anything past these two!
Surely when you are leaving the Firm you work for, it is normal to put it in writing so why should this have been different? It clarifys the situation and stops any future misunderstandings. In this case highly necessary as its turned out.

Manipulative people don't like facts, or anything written in black and white, it interferes with 'their truth'.

Anniebach Fri 12-Mar-21 08:46:55

What will be their next move in the sewer .

Nothing is being reported about Phillip

My understanding of what Harry said is that phone calls with his father were not productive. Prince Charles then suggested Harry put his grievances in writing. Sometimes this helps the individual to streamline their thoughts and petty things look silly on paper. Charles would want Harry to stick to the subject.
My guess is that Harry is an irascible young man, not particularly articulate, and shouting matches over the phone got nowhere.

As many GN know when they come on to share their own agony.

The crisis of the media and the crisis of the monarchy are deeply intertwined. They are a festering symbiotic relationship that feeds us puerile about a family of non-entities – and the cumulative effect is to stop us becoming citizens with agency.
*
As Philip Collins puts it: “They raise a serious flaw in the monarchy, which is that a white hereditary aristocracy cannot possibly hope to represent an increasingly diverse democracy.”

Another media is possible.

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head here Ellianne.

Yes, lollin, and it is cathartic for many.
What GNs don't do though, is issue unreasonable and unrealistic demands.

Anniebach Fri 12-Mar-21 09:13:58

nonentities ? nasty, they are human beings .

Lollin Fri 12-Mar-21 09:14:56

By whose yardstick ? We all have different life experiences and different expectations because of our own yardstick. Look no further than PC .

Grany Please expand on how the RF stop me being a citizen with agency.

There’s a great picture on FB where they’ve super imposed Alex Salmond and Nicola Sturgeon heads onto Meghan and Harry being interviewed by Oprah.

Try posting the truth Grany.

Alegrias1 Fri 12-Mar-21 09:27:56

All true as far as I can see Grany.

I've always found that people who have to deny they are racist are usually....well, I won't say it.

Sometimes when I read things on this thread I think I am living in a parallel universe. In mine there are two people I don't know who made a TV programme 2 hours long that I watched while doing a jigsaw. I have no idea if they were telling the truth or not. I have little interest. They have no relevance to my real life, anymore than the family they have left. I listened and drew conclusions from what they said.

The other universe GNers seem to inhabit is one where they have personal involvement with the couple, know exactly what happened, all their faults and, who did and said what and when, who is lying and who is being manipulated. The grounds for this knowledge seems often to be personal experience.

All I can think is it's a bt like me watching my DGS dig a hole in my back garden and then initiating a CSI investigation because I've come to the conclusion that there is a body buried there.
Reality has become irrelevant.
