TBH I find it all a bit disturbing Trisher. If people can jump to these conclusions and make unfounded comments about people they have never met and who mean nothing in their lives, what else will they believe?

Personally I don't give two hoots what they do and I hope they'll be as happy as they can be in their own world - but this is not just an attack on their family. This is a threat to our way of life which has gone on for centuries since the Restoration and to the Commonwealth too. Could that possibly be why people take an interest?
Republicans will, of course, cheer them on and laud their attempts to undermine the Head of State and supporting roles. Meghan may not realise the implications as an American (or she may do, who knows) but poor dim Harry, who appeared not to even notice that his wife was suicidal, has not thought this through at all.
The institution of Monarchy has been through worse than this and survived.
This idea that the monarchy has always been respected and lauded by the British people really has to be challenged. The RF is a comparitively recent phenomena. It could be said to have begun around the time of George V1 accession, when photographs of the two girls were released to make sure there was no opposition to his taking over. But before that the RF were constantly at each others throats. Sons hated fathers, fathers and mothers hated sons,husbands kept mistresses, wives had lovers, daughters were ignored or married off. The public sometimes supported one and sometimes another. The concept of the monarchy as a virtuous, upstanding supporter of British values is a recent, and carefully orchestrated, but false, one
