Has anyone got a different perspective after watching last evenings interview?
I am be really interested to hear if any of you feel more or less pro the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

annsixty if my memory serves me correctly it involved soup and Dave Coaches couldn't bear to speak of it as he deemed it a physical impossibility.

Come to think of it, did James Corden give Meg and Has tips on that interview answer? Did he script it...

If anyone is interested in a blow by blow account of each item that has been disputed in the Sussexes interview,it is readily available in Today’s Daily Mail on line. I read the tabloids and red tops on line everyone morning, and had seen most of the items refuted before, but having read through the complete list of things that were claimed and the evidence that they were ‘misremembered’ is a bit of an eye opener - particularly the one where M said she only went out twice in 4 months.

I am merely pointing this out, whether you believe their proof, or should I say ‘truth’ it is obviously entirely up to you, although I realise that the fact that it is in the Mail, will be a red rag to some. I suppose, I could link each bit back to where it had appeared before, including red tops, but quite honestly I can’t be bothered.

Thanks for bringing the chat back to the subject Lexisgranny. I'm a bit of an armchair detective at heart, so will take a look at the evidence provided!

Lexisgranny Sat 13-Mar-21 15:23:08

suziewoozie. I do beg your pardon, I thought that some members might like to see both sides, as I did, evidently not in your case.

From the tabloid press? Both sides?

Anniebach Sat 13-Mar-21 15:56:56

Lexigranny I read the Mail and yes - only went out once in four months ! And Omid Scobie said ‘there were no tears from
anyone’.

The photograph of Meg and her sister in 2008 but Meg hasn’t seen her for 29 years.

Meg said several occasions when she was pregnant the colour of skin was spoken of. Harry said - once before the marriage

And much more

Lexisgranny Sat 13-Mar-21 15:59:52

suziewoozie go back to the example I gave, that of Meghan’s assertion that she had only been out of the house twice in 4 months. The movements of such a high profile person was easily charted through photographs, reports of where she was, lists of royal visits she had undertaken etc. I was interested in this because I felt it unlikely that the press would not have picked up the fact that she was missing, 4 months is quite a chunk out of the short time she actually lived here. Of course if you are not prepared to accept this on the grounds that it appears in a tabloid newspaper so be it.

The only newspaper we have bought as far back as I can remember is the Times, but I do read all the others online together with some serious periodicals, because I prefer to base my views on a variety of opinions backed up by facts, and let’s face it, it is opinions. None of us were ‘there’.

Thank God that they didn't take on the responsibilities that the Queen would have entrusted them with as they have shown themselves not to be trusted.

Now, Gavin and Stacey. That's MUCH more interesting! grin

Well if you make an enemy of the press you can expect a bad press! Tell lies or “your truth” you can expect them to expose any inaccuracies. Of course there are those on here that believe their ‘bible’ The Guardian is the only rag worth reading. It’s just as biased and economical with the truth as any other. Afterall, it has a very dodgy background.

Ellianne Sat 13-Mar-21 16:26:57

The press and its reporting is one thing, but weren't Meghan and Harry also economical with the truth in their interview? Along with Oprah weren't they also serving up what they felt certain viewers, especially Americans, would avidly devour? It amounts to the same difference.

You don’t have to make an enemy of the press to get a bad press, and I’d like some more evidence of the dodgy background and inaccuracies of the Guardian compared with the tabloid press.

seacliff Sat 13-Mar-21 16:55:31

Yes I saw that too Lexisgranny. Some posters are very disparaging about the Mail. However they did list a whole lot of anomalies in the interview. Some of these can then be checked out elsewhere to see what the real truth is.

When you make such serious accusations, if some turn out to be lies that is pretty awful. Still I suppose the end result is what she wanted, USA to be more aware of them.

Just because you read the Mail online, does not mean you believe it all. If I ever see an interesting story I check it out elsewhere, to try and get the full facts.

OnwardandUpward Sat 13-Mar-21 17:01:42

Nope, I don't buy any newspapers, but I did watch the abysmal interview that shall not be named. The best thing people can do is move on and stop giving them airtime because I doubt we will hear the results of the internal enquiry conducted by the RF anyway.

I still think it would be more interesting to talk about Gavin and Stacey (or anything else in the world )

Missfoodlove Sat 13-Mar-21 17:10:26

The only truths in this world are that we are born and that we will one day die.
Everything else is what we perceive.
M&H speak of their truth.
I’m sure the RF also have their truth.

Sw Slave owning history. Recent admission of support for IRA’s violence on UK citizens by a long serving journo for the G. You carry on believing their self righteous blurb if you wish. It’s a free country but don’t disparage every other paper that offers a different view as gutter press or tabloid rubbish.

These journalists move around and today’s guardian writer is tomorrow’s
Sun journo.

I don’t know about the slave owning - I’ll look it up. As for the IRA story, that was presented by the Mail very dishonestly. He had been an editor/ journalist/ commentator on many newspapers including the Guardian. Alan Rushbridger ( firmer editor) wrote an interesting thoughtful article about this issue the other week - I’ll try and find it and post it. I’m afraid that I’ll never take the tabloid press seriously - they do too much damage. The Times, Telegraph, Guardian and FT are the only serious newspapers we have

If two individuals disagree you can listen to both sides, or, if you prefer, ‘their truth’. In doing so, much like a judge and jury, you are able to decide which one to believe, or, if you prefer, conclude what is your decision regarding the truth of the situation. However, if you shut your ears to what one of these individuals has to say because of some kind of prejudice..........?

Anniebach Sat 13-Mar-21 17:39:39

Have you some other information? I also don’t recall an article in the Mail decrying their much more recent links snd support of Nazi Germany.

Lucca The Trevor Phillips article is the Weekend Essay at the end of the Comment section. He also talks about his family's struggles with a daughter with an eating disorder, which is very moving.

Thank you ! I’ll take a look
