"I thought it might be fun to draw up a list of terrible dinner party guests" says Rupert Hawksley in the Indy recently.

Who would you invite to a sit-down dinner party and why?

Charleygirl5 Thu 11-Mar-21 18:17:28

I would add a few names from GN, past as well as present.

Me too charley.

Who does dinner parties nowadays any way. We eat in the kitchen - no starters, simple main course and bought pudding. A friend forgot the puddings once so we all had magnums!! Think it might catch on!

Lisagran Thu 11-Mar-21 18:48:09

Good grief, kittylester! Standards, girl, standards! grin

Ohmother Thu 11-Mar-21 18:58:04

I invite friends for a meal and go to the local chippy.

grandmajet Thu 11-Mar-21 19:13:20

Ooh, who to choose.
Jeremy Corbyn, can he really be as miserable as he looks.
Jeremy Clarkson, should have a good argument with the other Jeremy.
Gemma Collins, no explanation needed!
Emma Thompson, so holier than thou.
Gillian McKeith, to sneer at the food and peer into the toilet!
Rene Jean Page - just for me to look at!

If you’re having the dinner party from hell grandmajet you can’t have someone to drool over.

grandmajet Thu 11-Mar-21 22:31:24

It’s my dinner party! and I’ll drool if I want to!

GagaJo Thu 11-Mar-21 23:24:00

Oh yes, add Kenneth Branagh. Can't bear the smug, self satisfied, self-aggrandizing a**e.

MissAdventure Thu 11-Mar-21 23:29:46

Hmm..
John McCririck, the Krankies, someone from TOWIE, Frankie Boyle, Janet St Porter, Jane Macdonald, Ricky Gervais and Dominic Cummings.

MissAdventure Thu 11-Mar-21 23:32:04

Oh, Morrissey and Jarvis Cocker, just for fun, too.

Callistemon Thu 11-Mar-21 23:33:42

Do you mind if I go down to the pub and leave you all to it? With Monty Don please, Greyduster!
Are you coming Lisagran and Dottydots?

Callistemon Thu 11-Mar-21 23:35:42

Janet St Porter
Don't let her do the cooking, MissA she eats roadkill. You don't know how long it might have been knocking around at the side of the road.

MissAdventure Thu 11-Mar-21 23:40:12

Well, at least she's easily pleased, foodies then. smile
Just as well since I can't cook/won't cook.

MissAdventure Thu 11-Mar-21 23:40:52

Foodies? Foodwise!

She was on Masterchef so she can cook a bit, leave her in charge of the kitchen.

MissAdventure Thu 11-Mar-21 23:46:03

She could do what she wanted really, seeing as she's a bit scary!

I can't really think of any celebs (apart from Carol Vorderman, for whom I have a carefully cultivated lifelong dislike of) and Gregg Wallace, naturally.

My dinner party from hell would be a few people who I know / have known in real life (worked with, to be perfectly honest) Dreary people, self obsessed people, stupid people etc.
And no booze shock

A few of my dream dinner party guests are on here, including Jeremy Clarkson and Jarvis Cocker.
In fact that would do me fine, with lots of booze! smilewine

DanniRae Fri 12-Mar-21 08:19:07

Jo Brand - Frankie Boyle - Janet Street Porter - Gordon Ramsey - Jeremy Corbyn - David Cameron - Gemma Collins

Maybe the hell would be, look but don’t touch! He is gorgeous.

How could I forget Frankie Boyle? Vile man.

Greyduster Fri 12-Mar-21 08:41:34

Ok, since you asked - he irritates the life out of me with his sheer “niceness”, and the way he seeks to makes an art form out of looking slightly dishevelled. I want to drag him off to a good tailor and say “burn these bloody jackets he wears and DO something with him!!”

Oldwoman70

I would invite: Russell Brand, Jeremy Clarkson, Piers Morgan, Jeremy Kyle, Jeremy Vine, Katie Hopkins and all the Kardashians,

Would it be evil for me to ask if I could settle them down and then set fire to the building wink

I have a box of matches you can borrow. grin

Franbern Fri 12-Mar-21 09:01:45

Any member(s) of the British Royal family, any member of the UK Government. Would then probably be more than happy to welcome Guido Falkes!!!!

For you Grandmajet

“Bridgerton star Rege-Jean Page to read CBeebies bedtime story On Mother’s Day.”

I don’t do gardening so I ve not seen much of him but when I have seen him I think his clothes are excellent!
