"I thought it might be fun to draw up a list of terrible dinner party guests" says Rupert Hawksley in the Indy recently.

Who would you invite to a sit-down dinner party and why?

Thank you Lucca. I will prepare myself for some drooling!

A chacun son gout.

Greyduster
Relax - I've taken him down the pub! grin
(It's a bit early but we're only on orange juice)

I am with Greyduster on the Monty Don topic.

Did anyone see the trailer for Rege-Jean Page reading the bedtime story? The trailer was quite enough to cope with!!

Callistemon?

Stephen Fry
Kaye Adams
Jo Brand
Mary Berry
Jeremy Vine
Leigh Francis
The latest Pottery Throwdown presenter
Noel Fielding

All vying for attention, adoration and claiming superior intelligence/comic genius...nightmare.

Monty Don! How could you. I definitely would get down in the flower beds with Monty.

I’d invite all the Jeremys, Trump, Diane Abbott (for dividing up the bill with her special calculator), Laurence Fox, Vanessa Feltz and Claudia Winkelman.

Mmm having read everyone elses nominations I think I am going to need another building to house all the ones I forgot! So many obnoxious celebrities - so few boxes of matches grin

Puzzler61 Fri 12-Mar-21 11:35:20

Keith Lemmon, Simon Cowell, Madonna, Andrew Lloyd-Webber, Prince Andrew, Personal Morgan, Katie Price.

But ....... I would have Monty Don seated at my table, crumpled clothes or not. I bet they are all linen and expensive. He doesn’t seem like the sort of person to be a fashion hobby horse but he has interesting conversation (well I love plants).

* Piers not Personal . Blooming spellcheck!

But when we see Monty Don he is gardening! He's hardly likely to be wearing his best clothes, is he? I like him because apart from his helpful advice on gardening, he is a dog lover and so am I!

Puzzler61 Fri 12-Mar-21 13:28:09

Monty wore similar during his Around the World in 80 Gardens travel series, and when I went to an Audience with him at the BBC Homes & Garden Show. I think it’s his ‘look’ and what he’s comfy in.

Greyduster Fri 12-Mar-21 13:35:15

He even struggles to dress smartly for the Chelsea Flower Show and his co presenters put him in the sartorial shade. Okay, I’ve said my last one this now. Everyone has their own opinions, and things that get under their skin?.

Callistemon Fri 12-Mar-21 15:06:17

Linen shirt, linen jacket

Everyone has their own opinions, and things that get under their skin ?
Yes, they do.

I agree with most of the above but I'll take Michelle Obama and Chris Packham to the pub with Monty and me!

Can I add that man with the too-perfect hair and face and dazzlingly white teeth to the dinner party list, Ryan or Rylan somebody?

I feel like a GOW!
