Noise cancelling headphones

Planning ahead! I’ve got some noise cancelling headphones which are brilliant on medium/long haul flights. There’s a ‘white noise’ button and once that is pressed I can hear almost nothing. Enables blessed sleep ?. But. They’re huge. They are large ear covering, over the head type and are a pain to carry about. Are any of the small earbud type headphones as good at blocking noise do you know?? I don’t need to hear the constant bing bong of the flight announcements when I want to sleep!
