Noises and words you love!

Forgot just words - I love flibbertigibbet, floozie, and balderdash.
Not to mention P.G. Wodehouse’s ‘gruntled’, as in, ‘If not exactly disgruntled, he was very far from being gruntled.’

Word - tranquillity

Smells - freshly baked bread; freshly brewed coffee (though sadly I can't drink it)

Sounds - the waves crashing on a shingle beach

My favourite word is mellifluous - always brings happy thoughts to mind.

Favourite smell is that of fuel/fumes at a racetrack - always reminds me of when we used to go motor cycle racing many years ago.

Absolute favourite sound has to be that of a baby laughing - wonderful !

I’d like to be sitting by a shingle beach listening to the waves crashing, eating a warm croissant, with a cup of tea!

The heady heat and accompanying smells of street cooking and restaurants abroad, sometimes at home too. The smell of ground coffee beans, often smells better than it tastes though.
Dare I say it French cigarettes even though I hate smoking
Jasmine, lavenders, roses and many other fragrant plants
The smell and sights of Autumn even though I feel a bit sad about the coming of winter
Church bells, it reminds me of my childhood when I lived near a church that overlooked a cricket green. Nostalgia!

TerriBull, you’ve reminded me of another one. The sound of village cricket, the bat on the ball, the clapping, the occasional shout. Of course, in my head it is warm and sunny too.

Sounds: A good brass band playing Nimrod/blackbirds singing/Concorde coming in to land at Heathrow, flying over the offices where I used to work/the roar of the crowd when my team scores a goal (not very often, sadly!)

Scents: a rich fruit cake baking/old-fashioned clove pinks/a second-hand bookshop/cinnamon-scented candles/that first hint of autumn.

That’s a lovely word, clareken.
I’ve noticed that most of the favourite sounds and smells, and even words, relate to nature. Is that a result of lockdown do you think, or our advancing age, or just a growing realisation of the importance and beauty of the natural world?

I love all of the answers here. I enjoy the sounds of the foghorn and rain in the night, morning birds. The smell of fresh baked bread and ham. The word snugglebunny.

Birdsong, beautiful piano music (I try but....), the sound of trees rustling in the breeze, the tinkling of the wind chimes outside my back door, the sound of trickling water (as long as its not a leaky tap). The sound of 'I love you' from my husband and my son.
The smell of daffodils, bluebells, hyacinths, the blossom on our damson tree, the slightly mouldy spicy smell of woodlands, the smell of line-dried laundry.

Honeysuckle( parent's garden), rose petals ( Catholic ceremonies), Christmas pud ( family all together) Estee Lauder Youth Dew ( Mom), freshly baked desserts ( Mom),the divine smell of bacon and mushroom wafting upstairs for weekend breakfasts ( Mom and family ..) Mmmmmm

Garlic, spices, curry, cakes baking, most cooking smells really, except meat. (Vegetarian.) Fresh flowers. Lavender. 711 Eau de Cologne. The scent of my cats' warm fur.

I love the sound of seagulls. It triggers a memory of childhood. I woke up in my mum's bed and listened to seagulls. I suddenly remembered we were on holiday at the seaside. Such a happy feeling.
