Good morning Michael and all GNs. Rather a grey start in South Yorkshire. A late wake up for me. I was so washed out yesterday I went to bed early but woke up when DH managed to knock a pint glass full of water off his bedside table at half past three. Once you’re awake that’s it! It took me a couple of hours to drop off again.
Laundry today and I will also start knitting as my pattern has arrived.
Happy Birthday sheepandcattle. Have a lovely do as you like day!?☕️☀️.
For all, a happy Friday!

Oh Grandmajean, childhood memories of The Broons and Oor Wullie ! My grandparents lived in Glasgow and used to send us a parcel containing The Glasgow Weekly News and The Sunday Post every week for my mum to read. It also contained a bag of broken macfarlane lang biscuits as my grandad was a delivery driver for them. I loved the cartoon families.

Good morning Mick, Annie and all.
Thank you all who have sent PM's and posted good wishes to me. I have really been so touched by your kindness, and it does wonders for the 'blues'. ???
Sar53, your DD is so brave. I hope she is continuing to feel positive.
Love the pictures of the lilies Ashcombe, although they are not my favourite, they are beautiful.
I am another who misses our Gillybob and her Friday girl Yay. Do you think she pops in and reads. Best wishes to her and her little family, they went through tough times.
Pinchy looks as though he is doing well in his smart new blue splints, SheepandCattle is doing a sterling job in the orthopaedic department. Well done and enjoy your birthday weeding! ?? ?
Another 'ditch the valance' vote here Beechnut
Marydoll you say you have a half empty today. So, don't go getting up to any naughtiness now. Tie yourself down somewhere comfy and just relax, somehow. ?
Love the picture of your dog and the pup Bellasnana, your one looks very tolerant of the the young one. By the way, your unit, that they are in front of, looks just the sort of thing that I want for our TV, so that the wires get hidden behind.
Thinking of Georgesgran, and Gagagran, and all those I have probably forgotten.
Have a good day, and enjoy the weekend one and all.

Good Morning All x. A Very Happy Birthday Sheepandcattle

Positively mild but looking rather grey with it, but still it's getting nice and light in the evenings.
Beautiful floral display Ashcombe you can fairly smell those lilies, stunning.

I'd have loved a little playhouse like that as a girl, how lovely it is DWM.
I see Marydoll is a glutton for punishment again thinking she can run before she can walk then ending up in bed. You'll never learn, girl. Hope today is better for you.

Iris is so brave bless her and seems as though she gets on with things more than most children would manage. Let's hope infection keeps at bay.

Pinchy looks gorgeous in her blue socks. She's grown as well by the looks of things.
Gagagran I know exactly how you feel looking after a sick husband, trying not to feel moth-eaten which is difficult at times but don't feel guilty. Main thing is looking after yourself too.

Glad DD had a lift yesterday Sar the coming weather is on her side now to lift her spirits even more.
I hope a drop of decent weather at the weekend gives you a much needed lift too Susan.

So much going on with everyone I can't keep up but I do wish you all well, even * Mick* is back on the fish and chips so must be feeling better.

Same menu for me today, haddock and chips. Friday has soon come round again. I've never known the time fly by as it has this last 12 months-----doing nothing too ! How slow the Fridays went at work sometimes.

Nothing much to report from my end. Will probably have a chat with the neighbour later when she gives her little dog the run of the garden.

I hope everyone has a decent sort of a day with thoughts to those who aren't feeling too clever xx
Stay safe and take care.

Grandmajean Fri 19-Mar-21 09:31:58

Good morning from Cheshire. The flowers are beautiful Ashcombeand so very much a sign of Easter. Great word "footer" Marydoll - I use it a lot and my children and grandchildren are completely au fait with these Scottish expressions having been brought up to understand "The Broons" and " Oor Wullie"
Hope Pinchy continues to improve Sheepandcattle
Not much on today but will have a walk later.

Grandmafrench Fri 19-Mar-21 09:20:40

Good Morning everyone from sunny and blue S of France,

Diving (oh, can you imagine!) into shower in hurry as off to Vet for Ludo’s skin check up. Just wanted to wish sheep, THE most well-deserved Happiest of Wiltshire Birthdays ?? and some gentle garden diversions today.

pitt, what are you like? ? I think little Iris and Pinchy need to be a team..... brave Iris could inspire him. Calm and hope and patience to all coping with illness and stress and worry - and in others! Gingster, thank you ?.

Wishing you some happiness over this weekend and onwards, sending you hugs....and may you all have The Very Best Fabulous Flamingo Friday. ???????‍♀️???????

hollysteers Fri 19-Mar-21 09:01:51

My cat loves her new bed!

Good morning Mick and all from a dull Lancashire northwest coast. Off in a min to change jeans from Asda, too tight after weight gain over lockdown. I bought two pairs and one is just right so will swap for that. Absolutely hate large supermarkets but need a few things small shops don’t have. Always hated them, nothing to do with lockdown.
Son here and he cooked last night, very nice. He watched the film “Witness” which I saw years ago. I, as usual, looked at my iPad and Gransnet.
Enjoy your fish and chips and cycling Mick and thinking of Georgesgran, Marydoll, Bellesnana and all with troubles.

Grammaretto Fri 19-Mar-21 09:00:23

Good Morning from cold damp Scottish Borders. I knew that gorgeous weather was too good to last. ye'll pay for it

I sowed some seeds too. Probably they'll freeze to death.
I got up early, did my Gaelic homework, phoned DS in NZ, breakfast etc and now I am ready for a nap.

No wonder you are tired grandmajet. Take it easy. flowers

I miss Gillybob on Fridays.

Happy Birthday Sheep. Thanks for keeping us up to date with the farm and pinchy.

Nannytopsy Fri 19-Mar-21 08:58:53

Good morning Mick and all his followers.
It’s bright with some blue skies today in Suffolk. It was going to be a day in the garden but DS had forgotten to ask if we could have the children tomorrow and could we take them from after school this afternoon? Suddenly, it has become a day of tidying up, cleaning bathrooms and hiding various things bought for birthdays etc! What’s worse, they will be here for the Six nations so we shall have to record it and then watch tomorrow evening!
Happy birthday sheep and flowers for all who are poorly, worried, tired or fed up with being confined.
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

Jaxjacky Fri 19-Mar-21 08:57:52

Happy Birthday sheep enjoy your day ???. Marydoll I could do with some insider tips from Beauregard for my wonky donkey selections at Cheltenham too.

Sar53 Fri 19-Mar-21 08:53:10

A Very Happy Birthday to you Sheepandcattle, enjoy your afternoon wineflowers xx

Alygran Fri 19-Mar-21 08:48:28

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s just beginning to brighten up after overnight rain.
Food shopping this morning then some gardening later if it’s dried up enough. I need to sort out the very mossy lawn.
Happy birthday Sheep have a lovely day.
gagagran it’s hard being a carer. Take care of you too when you can.
Wishing everyone a good day. Stay safe.

grandMattie Fri 19-Mar-21 08:42:27

Wishing you a wonderful ? birthday ??? sheep. I hope the weather is fine and warming on this penultimate day of winter!

Gingster Fri 19-Mar-21 08:40:29

Happy birthday Sheep. Enjoy your day in the garden with the radio on. Sounds wonderful. You deserve it! ????

aggie Fri 19-Mar-21 08:26:51

Good Morning all , no sun yet but fingers crossed!
My miniature Cherry blossom is out , I took a photo with some Japanese pottery

Aldom Fri 19-Mar-21 08:25:23

Beechnut your reference to the valance getting in the way of the under bed drawers made me smile. I found the valance a nuisance too. The last time I washed it I decided not to bother with it. Accessing the drawers is so much quicker and easier now and the throw covers the end /sides of the bed.

Pittcity Fri 19-Mar-21 08:23:53

Good morning from sunny Colchester. Chilly though...no sign of the Edinburgh Summer!
DH left early to pick up DS who is coming home before switching Naval bases. He has loads of kit and his car is at the garage until this evening.

I have a Virgin man arriving any minute to hook me up....ooh er missus grin

Otherwise ironing and more furniture ordering today.

Spag bog for tea.

Love to all x

ginny Fri 19-Mar-21 08:22:22

Good Morning, I think it is trying to brighten up in N. Bucks.
Happy birthday Sheep
Marydoll glad you are feeling better today, take care.
Kind thoughts to all others with troubles or worries.

The usual odd jobs and a walk today.
I might get around to starting a ‘paint by numbers’.

Hope you all find a ?today.

baubles Fri 19-Mar-21 08:22:13

Good morning Mick, morning all from sunny South Lanarkshire.

Such a beautiful day yesterday and today is shaping up to be the same, it lifts my spirits enormously.

Lovely photos this morning, thank you Ashcombe, Bellasnana, Dwmgxwg, Marydoll and s&g. Happy birthday s&g, enjoy a more relaxed afternoon. Marydoll, I hope you have a better day today.

Your screen free weekend sounds good Laura, I’d have severe withdrawal anxiety I think, I’m far too attached to my phone.

Good wishes to Sar’s DD, Iris and gagagran and her DH. I know I’ll have missed lots of people between the last post I read and typing this out.

I’m about to get into the shower and wash my hair. Hairdressers love my hair as I’ve a lot of it but I find it hard to manage so it takes an age to dry and style.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day.

Urmstongran Fri 19-Mar-21 08:19:43

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry and looks mild enough. Later this morning we plan a run out to one of the local garden centres to have two tubs filled to sit on our lovely new decking. I don’t bother with much greenery there as I rely on a neighbour’s 9y old to water them for me when we go over to Malaga. I give her some money for doing it - I think she feels grown up!

There are tiny green buds on the maple, small bright green leaves coming up in a tub of delphiniums which give a great showing every summer and tiny tubes of the hosta are peeking up. I brought these over from our previous garden as there is a special memory attached to each plant. I’m thinking I might choose an azalea for one of my tubs? Anyway I’ll enjoy the wander about.

Where is Elizabeth1 these days? I hope you are alright dear lady - you were doing so well with your exercise sessions?

That hides-hole is just perfect for your grandchildren Dwmxg! Lucky children it’ll give hours of fun. At least you know now why you’ve been so tired Grandmajet plenty of time to get you sorted for the spring. Oh, talking of which, the clocks go forward next week too!

Hope Friday is good to us all. Thank you to folk such as you grandMattie in donating blood. That is one helluva proud achievement! Wish our gillybob was here with us. It’s been not long off a year I bet since she last put up her ‘Yay it’s Friday!’ pic. I still miss her. If you’re reading this, please come back we feel sad without you. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

GrannySomerset Fri 19-Mar-21 08:17:47

Tesco trip today, highlight of the week, and then some garden tidying. Otherwise nothing much, though the sun is almost shining and it doesn’t feel cold.

Sorry Marydoll is less than well, huge sympathy with Gagagran as I struggle to be kind and patient whilst doing absolutely everything else, and admiration for Iris and all those finding life hard. Just need something to look forward to .....

Gagagran Fri 19-Mar-21 08:11:17

Thanks Gingster - it's good to know that my old goat is not the only one! The sun has come out for my little trip out too so that will add to the pleasure of my brief escape from the "convalescent home".

Marydoll Fri 19-Mar-21 08:11:03

Dollie loves that story, Grandmabatty! Thanks!
