Here we are again
Happy as can be
All good friends and jolly good company.

Welcome. Take a seat and enjoy our opening day celebration.

Grandmabatty Fri 23-Apr-21 15:41:13

Puzzler61 my feet are feeling very soft and lovely, thanks ☺️ I've been driven out of the summer house by a rather persistent wasp which was determined to set up home. Then I discovered an enormous spider behind my art supplies storage so I've waved the white flag and retreated indoors. I struggle to sit outside and do nothing. Even reading is a struggle. I shall have to practise more. A pub garden lunch sounds fabulous. Yiayia that's awful. Poor man. Annodomini would you like to come and clean my car? It badly needs it.

soop Fri 23-Apr-21 16:50:29

Gentle, virtual hugs for each of you. Feeling well below par. Have not shifted from my chair all day long. I hope to have perked up by tomorrow. My best weekend wishes for the best peeps on Gransnet. smile moon

GrannyGravy13 Fri 23-Apr-21 17:00:49

Wishing you a speedy revolution soop

Yiayia how upsetting, there are some wicked people on this Earth.

dustyangel Fri 23-Apr-21 17:20:21

Gentle hug for you soop, I hope when the antibiotics start working you feel much, much better.

Bellanonna Fri 23-Apr-21 17:25:28

I hope you feel well again soon soop, UTIs are horrible. ?

GrannyGravy13 Fri 23-Apr-21 17:29:45

revolution I have absolutely no idea how my iPad comes up with substitute words it was meant to say recovery obviously soop ???

Jaxjacky Fri 23-Apr-21 17:44:30

Hi all, started planting in the garden today, it all looks quite bare, some Gaillardia, two honeysuckle and a jasmine. Sorted out the paperwork and paid the deposit for the DD and GC’s October break. DD was all of a fluster when she dropped the GC’s off, she hasn’t been ‘out’ since last October, she’s meeting friends in a booked pub garden booth, she deserves it. Mr J doing a sterling job with them in the garden while I get on with their dinner.
Hope soop and BladeAnnie feel tip top soonest, feeling poorly is yuk. And Yia how dreadful, I imagine the ripples are spreading far. Without people like your DH puzzler the vaccination rollout wouldn’t have gone so well, ??? to him..
I’ll leave you with a suitably incognito picture of the DG’s, Mr J’s knees feature!

Urmstongran Fri 23-Apr-21 18:46:24

‘Evening All’

My bestest news is that the sonographer (or radiologist? She introduced herself as a doctor anyway) did my neck scan and said she had no concerns. Result! That said she couldn’t account for he twinges of pain but I explained I’m seeing an ENT specialist soon so she said ‘hopefully just belt and braces’.

I’m a happy bunny now as you can all well imagine. 5 months of anxiety drags one down. Anyway, no ‘Dixon’ tonight. Himself has taken himself off to the cricket club round the corner (5 mins walk) where he will enjoy a pint with our son in law as they watch the boy wonder learning his skills in the evening sunshine. I’m having one or two of these to celebrate!

With a lighter heart I wish you all a peaceful night. x

Jaxjacky Fri 23-Apr-21 18:51:26

Excellent news Urnstongran much relaxing of shoulders, cheers.

Urmstongran Fri 23-Apr-21 18:54:45

Thank you! ??

Apologies too, for that post was all ‘me’. Because I feel joyous.

But I hope you feel better soon soop UTI’s are just horrid.

Puzzler61 Fri 23-Apr-21 19:01:29

? celebrations are in order Urmstongran after your x-rays today and how good was it that you got told and your mind set to rest with out further waiting for results?
soop I hope tomorrow finds you much more comfortable and feeling yourself. BladeAnnie too.
Please May we have photos of the Jasmine and Clematis Jaxjacky when they are in flower? They are two of my favourite flowers.
I feel I missed out on a pub garden Booth, I wonder how that has been set up? Are the booths covered in case of rain?
We had spaced out chairs and tables in the pub’s garden today to enable social distancing.
I hope your DD had a good chinwag as we say around these parts, especially knowing the children were in safe hands.

muse Fri 23-Apr-21 19:02:48

I've caught up with news from everyone since my last post on Monday. shock.
Thank you soop and doodle for thoughts about my son. No call for three weeks now and just one text, which was very short. I'm now torn whether to continue with the odd text or wait. Having been here before, I think it will be the former.

Long call to my darling daughter tomorrow on her birthday. Hope she's planned something. She was 50 last year and couldn't celebrate it.
Had two WhatsApp videos from my brother yesterday. Wow - he is so creative. Took up a variety of crafts during lockdown, mainly wire and paper.

Jax. Quite an ordeal at the dentist. Mind you, after having the advantages of the little brushes drummed into me, I now wish I'd been using them way way back.

soop Hope the UTI improves with the antibiotics. You have my sympathies flowers.

grandmaFrench. What an ordeal with that son.

Time to close the door here as the evening air has a chill about it. Mya is across the doorstep so she will have move. I don't know what tomorrow holds but I'll be back to read all about it.

brook2704 Fri 23-Apr-21 19:10:00

What an awful thing to happen yia really terrible and so sad, I’m not surprised everyone is in such shock
It’s been another lovely day here, I met up with my friend and we enjoyed a walk in the sunshine, a sit on a bench with a take away coffee and a good blether - happy times!
I hope you’re feeling much better soon soop please look after yourself, hopefully you’ll get some antibiotics to sort things out
Hope you can evict those beasties from the summerhouse grandmabatty how dare they!
Great news Urms I’m so pleased for you! ?
Enjoy the DGC jaxj and have fun

Grandmabatty Fri 23-Apr-21 19:40:11

That is excellent news Urmstongran. I'm really glad for you. Brooke another enormous wasp appeared in the living room earlier. I'm assuming it had come in through an open window. They've been quite bad this spring so far.

Jaxjacky Fri 23-Apr-21 19:49:11

puzzler like this, with a heat lamp above.

Puzzler61 Fri 23-Apr-21 19:55:00

Fantastic - so much space in each. Not what I imagined at all Jax.

dustyangel Fri 23-Apr-21 19:55:53

Great news Urmstongran. Now you can relax and enjoy the weekend.

Nannytopsy Fri 23-Apr-21 20:16:09

Congratulations Urmston ! Is that bottle up for shares?
It is 22 months since my husband retired ( can’t believe it, where did that go?!) and today we finally did what we had always imagined retirement would be. We drove to the coast, did some birdwatching ( bearded tit, linnet and reed buntings if anyone cares!) and had a pub lunch. Bliss! Glorious weather too. There were lots of swallows about too - does that make it summer? ?

Bellanonna Fri 23-Apr-21 20:42:17

GranntGravy, that made me laugh out loud. I’m sure it will make soop smile too!

Bellanonna Fri 23-Apr-21 20:42:46

GrannyGravy*, I meant.

brook2704 Fri 23-Apr-21 20:46:13

Hope your DS gets in touch soon muse and all’s well

cornergran Fri 23-Apr-21 21:23:54

Also wishing you a speedy recovery soop - but I do like the idea of a revolution smile. Hope tomorrow is a better day

Good news urms, sleep well tonight. Haven’t seen booths like that here jaxjacky positively envious envy.

We’re (foolishly for sure) considering a change of car. I’d forgotten just how irritating a bad car salesman can be until this morning. Still trying to unclench muscles I didn’t know I had and am certain which garage we won’t be returning to.

Our goddaughter is having an operation in the morning. We’re concerned for her, her overall health isn’t good, she’s not in a good place physically or emotionally for surgery. Her worries about her ability to be carer for her Mum during the recovery period have pushed out any thought of care for herself. No easy fix but a long chat seemed to help her and somehow the day was filled.

The garden calls tomorrow. Some gentle pottering is just what the doctor ordered here.

TOYA. Sleep well everyone.

Grandmafrench Fri 23-Apr-21 22:01:20

So pleased at the outcome, Urms what a relief for you. I don't drink Scotch so your second glass is safe - but I'll have the hard-boiled eggs! ?

Maybe the odd text and keep them normal and fairly upbeat, Muse. Glad you're o.k. Good luck tomorrow for your Goddaughter, corner. Shame that she's going in for surgery and her concerns are elsewhere. You must potter and not worry!

GrandmaB I'm not overly fond of insects but neither do I feel the need to kill them - so I'm usually the first to retreat. You should have seen me move this morning when a small sparrow flew out of the hedge and promptly crashed into a chair near me......... where I could see it was actually a huge cricket type thing, more like the size of a locust. I was the first to volunteer to make the coffee indoors!

Get well quickly, soop. How horrible those UTI's are - the scourge of post-menopausal, oestrogen-starved ladies (or so a Geriatrician once told me). Really debilitating and you were doing so well with all that frantic makeover activity. If the sunshine continues, just drink lots, take your pills and relax in a comfy seat with a book. Someone needs to take on the task of scanning the horizon for that Fern person.

I am beyond thrilled with the news that Maw picks up her brand-new doggie, Maisie, tomorrow. Since that dog will probably get cared for like Fern, that dog is one lucky soul.
Hope they'll be happy ever after.....

I hope that your once distant thoughts of fostering will be turning into reality some time soon, Charley. Think we're all looking forward to hearing new tales of cat mischief from Charley Cottage !

Lovely to hear that you've been so lucky, lucky, lucky, Cherry - about time you had a turn at that. Next week should hopefully see you formulate a decent plan with a fellow sufferer to reduce the neighbourhood nuisance and get your peace back soon.

Wishing you a good weekend. Sleep well all, sweet dreams so you can rise and shine and make the most of a new day.
??? and hugs. x

annodomini Fri 23-Apr-21 22:03:57

Yiayia, what a dreadful thing to happen. I do hope that the driver has been caught and that they will throw the book at him - assuming that it was a male. Am I gender-stereotyping?
Grandmabatty, don't get any ideas. I didn't actually clean the car; just ran the long duster over it which is all it really needed in the mysteriously dry weather. I'll have to do the windscreen with vinegar.
soop - UTIs are pure hell. I used to have them a lot, in my youth.Oh so long ago! Try to take it easy, please, now that you have all the painting done.
Goodnight all. moon

Jaxjacky Fri 23-Apr-21 22:23:00

The grandchildren are happy as they’re washing my car tomorrow, shall I send them round kitcheners?
Eldest GC got Mr J to ask Alexa ‘open the magic door’, I had to drag him away to watch Googlebox.
Night all, sleep tight (especially Cherry). X
