What are you doing this Easter?

Excited that we've just been asked to a neighbour's garden to sit outside for early evening drinks on Friday, with another couple.

Bearing in mind we have been absolutely nowhere and apart from zoom and all of that and are missing company of others, we are looking forward to this

A long awaited garden visit with one DD tomorrow, the usual family Zoom quiz in the evening, and afternoon tea with our bubble on Sunday, as it’s our lockdown baby’s first birthday. It’s a shame he can’t celebrate with all his cousins and the usual egg hunt, but partying with Nanna and Grandad will have to suffice.

We should actually be spending the week with the whole family in a house by the sea, but that’s rolled over from last Easter to next, so fingers crossed for 2022.

We will be having a 'Christmas' lunch. Roast turkey and all the trimmings and in many ways our 2020 Christmas turkey encapsules all the changes that have faced so many of us over the last year.

It was ordered in October, when lockdown was easing and I ordered a size suitable for a family of 7 sitting down to eat together on Christmas day and being together for a week. But then rules were tightened up and the Christmas party was reduced to us and our DD, who is in our bubble.

Then DH had a heart attack and heart surgery and complications, so was in hospital over Christmas, so on Christmas day 2 of us sat down with a turkey sized for 7 in front of us. On Boxing day, we cut the cooked turkey in half, wrapped it up and put it in the freezer, to have on New Years day when DH would be out of hospital - except he wasn't.

We then decided to keep it for the February half term when all the family would be together again, but another lockdown put paid to that but we hoped to be together for Easter.

Well, Easter is here and we are still in lockdown so a family Easter isoff as well. So on Easter Sunday 3 of us will sit down to lunch and DH can have the Christmas meal he missed at Christmas, I will not be doing all the trimmings I would usually do and after the meal the remains will be quickly packaged up for casseroles and currys.

As I said, our turkey tells the tale of a very confusing year.

I’d forgotten that it was Easter!

I need the restrictions on overnight visits to be lifted before I can see my children, not sure when that is.

I've bought two of those 'Lamb Shanks in Minted Gravy' from Tescos for Easter Sunday Lunch - few minutes in the microwave and they'll be done.

Will have them with 'proper' Mash, Roast Parsnips, those delicious multi-coloured baby carrots (from Lidl) and some steamed Kale ....................... will be like a 'Rainbow on a Plate' .

My church is actually opening for the first time this year on Easter Sunday morning - and we'll be having Holy Communion. I'm sooooo looking forward to being with my Christian Family on Sunday .

It depends in the weather. We will probably visit both sons if we can sit outside in the garden otherwise it will be a doorstep visit. We have a leg of lamb in the freezer so will cook that on Sunday and have a bottle of wine and a nice dessert. We have nice walks just across the road so will take the dog for an extra long walk if the weather is nice. We have got used to simple pleasures over the last 12 months.

Getting picked by DD to go to see their new home, 2 hours away; seeing DG and DSIL, second time this year ! Painting eggs on Sat; and making Easter Bonnets, sporting them on Sunday and egg hunting too. Lamb a la Jaime OLIVER; I

Staying home, eating hot cross buns and chocolate eggs. Won't be seeing any of the family - yet.

We’ll probably see some of the family in dribs and drabs. A few at a time. I’ll bulk buy hot cross buns , sausages and rolls for anyone popping in. Easter eggs already bought so will hand them out when they arrive. We usually have an Easter egg hunt on good Friday but this will be the second year we havent all been able to get together, ??

Having moved to Scotland (for health reasons), we are now hundreds of miles from family and friends (none of whom were close by in any event), we'll probably be indoors, as per usual. If there is a break in the weather, we might brave a trip to the beach (it's in our new village!). I've sent Easter cards to friends and family already.

The Easter Bunny has been busy in your house KittyL! Hope you have hidden DH's egg better than he did yours!

I'll be cooking for our bubble, huge problems finding a turkey, but finally got one being delivered on Thursday. Good Friday is a very difficult day for us as Christians, but at least the church is open for the service. Always feel better once the Saturday comes and I can start preparing for Sunday, when we will have a much more joyful service, then back to lunch with exchange of eggs and the bunnies I have made for the grandchildren who are coming. (have sent the rest on already). Egg hunt in the garden, then simnel cake and turkey sandwiches for tea!

Absolutely nothing.

We are planning a picnic (brrr!) on Easter Saturday at a place halfway between our home and our daughter's We shall see the grandchildren for the first time IRL since August! And give them all their chocolate eggs. No rain is forecast so as long as we all wrap up warm, it should be OK. Can't wait!

I've organised an Easter Egg hunt to be delivered to the families with littlies, chocolates to the bigger one and Dd1 is coming for a garden visit on Saturday.

As I was hiding the egg I had bought for dh in the boot of my car I found a very nice easter egg also hiding in there.

Will just be at my son's house as he is my bubble group. Lamb dinner inside as it will be cold. Allowed for us as we are both on our own.

Meeting up with sister-in-law and her husband who have just come back from their winter house in Spain (and completed their isolation and 3 covid tests plus all paperwork and vaccinations for the dogs etc etc).
Hoping to sit around the fire pit in the garden. Pulled pork sounds good - anyone got a recipe?

Good Friday meeting friend for a picnic on my DH memorial bench in local common. No plans for Easter Sunday

Hope the weather stays nice for Easter weekend. I will get to church on Good Friday and Easter Sunday, and cook a nice roast on the Sunday afternoon. I have plenty of Easter eggs for GC and I may even eat one myself.
Nice bit of walking with the dogs especially if I am eating chocolate.

We usually go to Portugal for Easter, but this year will just be looking at the slides that we took when we were over the last time. DS is shielding after a cancer op and treatment. We may see DD1, but DD2 is still too far away.
Catching up with friends on walks in the local area and that’s about it.

DS and family were coming to a nearby self catering cottage. Now that’s off we won’t be doing anything as all the family live too far away for a day trip. Hopefully manage to catch up with local friends.

Sadly not going to church - can't bear the lack of real singing. More happily, on Monday gardening upkeep of the church yard. Normal first Monday of the month. Otherwise, jobs in the garden and LOCAL walks - streets. I live at the seaside and no way am I going near the sea or the shopping area over Easter.

Nothing eased here yet, so the dog & I will just going for walks as usual. Only got my first vaccine this morning, hooray, so still staying well away from others.

Nanna8 you surely live on the other side of the world from UK, end of warm weather! Easter means nothings for me other than Easter eggs for GC which this year I am having to arrange to be delivered as no travel allowed. Just hope they arrive intact!

We're having an Easter egg hunt in my Mum's garden so she can watch her great grandkids find their eggs. She'll be indoors so I'll be able to join 2 of my kids outside as I am in my son's bubble. I can't wait.
