George for me.

I think Gransnet should put this up as a voting app so we can see who the winner is by the number of votes! After all, we are the Beatles generation so we are the ones entitled to vote. ?

Actually, a voting app would be good for all sorts of things. Come on Gransnet!

George was always the one for me.

Always Paul.

John

Froglady Fri 09-Apr-21 14:44:35

Paul for me.

Some horrible things being said about Paul!
What is wrong with you ladies?

LuckyFour Fri 09-Apr-21 14:40:55

Paul of course!

I could never decide whether I was going to marry Paul McCartney or Davy Jones of the Monkiees. In the end I decided to marry my husband instead

Didn't really have a favourite, but I liked John's intelligence and George's quiet dignity. I thought Paul was a p***t, and I still do.

It was always Paul for me, until he turned into a knob.

Oh! Why is Paul a knob then?

He’s my favourite and has been since I was 4 (in 1964)!

I’ve been wasting time recently on YouTube watching videos about the Beatles (lockdown boredom!) and it’s really fired up my love for all the Fab Four again. I also found out about “McLennon” which I’d never ever heard of before - blimey! ?

My husband would agree with you there!
But I always felt Yoko was underrated, and everyone loved to hate her, because she was supposed to have split them up.

hicaz46 Fri 09-Apr-21 13:54:22

George for me too

Daisymae Fri 09-Apr-21 13:49:51

Paul. I used to wander the countryside waiting to bump into him so that he could take me away from all this. Exactly what that meant I didn't know. Afraid he's missed his chance though, too old for me now ?

BRAVEBETH Fri 09-Apr-21 13:40:55

Sorry no airs and Grace's.

BRAVEBETH Fri 09-Apr-21 13:39:53

Paul.is wonderful He lived in Hove when I lived there. He was so natural - no hairs and graces. He used the local barbers and local shops. He always talked to the local people and my knees went weak! It was in 2000 until 2006. He was delightful and supported local charities.

John

It was Paul, but heavens I was still at junior school. In retrospect and with an adult brain, I think I prefer George. He spent too long basking in the reflected glory of the song writing skills of Lennon and McCartney and got side lined by two larger egos. Once he came into his own, it was apparent he was just as talented a composer as they were.

Chestnut Fri 09-Apr-21 12:59:33

Sara1954 - John I think was probably living off Yokos talent
You must be joking! She may have contributed in some ways but have you heard her singing? A cat being castrated.
John was responsible for some of my favourite Beatle songs, the ones that have stood the test of time for me.

Ringo. I always felt a bit sorry for him- he was such a brilliant drummer and the other 3 were always more in the limelight.

George.
But I was a Stones fan really.

Same here Grandmajet!

Alison333 Fri 09-Apr-21 12:48:37

George definitely. I met a woman when I was living in Bath many years ago who was wearing an Afghan coat (very trendy then!) I asked her where she had got it and she said that she had met George Harrison and admired his coat. He then took it off and gave it to her!

I saw them on the Cavern (that's letting my age out!) My cousin was a 'bouncer' on the door and he let me peek my head in when I was about 7. They were just ordinary lads from Liverpool although they changed when they became famous and became a. bit arrogant. In fact, one of them, not sure who, disassociated himself with Liverpool completely. So not sure who my favourite would be or even if I had one.

^In his brilliant book 'One Two Three Four', Craig Brown says that they represent the four elements:^
John is fire
Paul is water
George is air
Ringo is earth
I would disagree with this. Paul is air and George is water. This is backed up by their star signs, Paul Gemini (air), George Pisces (water). Still waters run deep, that's George!

In fact, John is actually Libra (air) and Ringo Cancer (water) so there was no fire sign in the group. Although I agree John was fiery and Ringo earthy, so their personal horoscopes may show those elements on the ascendant or something. I think that can change things.

You may well be right - it's more than likely that I've got mixed up, not CB smile
