Morning all from a dull chilly West Yorks where the garden has had a good overnight watering.Waiting for Gcs to arrive as DIL has to work,we are sharing care with their other Gps so only here til 11.30 then go for our click and collect.
2nd vac Wed. thankfully as with 1st have suffered no side effects.The atmosphere at the covid hub was as before, a pleasant experience and I constantly thanked all the lovely volunteers for their efforts,came away feeling proud as a nation pulling together.
Mick you are giving me itchy feet cos I love a bus ride (even more so with bus pass) cannot wait to get out and about.Family joke, only Mum can go out for day and come back having had lunch, bag of bargains and still only spent £10 I do love a browse more so than clothes shopping.
GRANDMATTIE your skills amaze me.Lockdown and reading GN has made me realise how lacking I am in craft skills.Always told the DC everyone is good at something but some take longer than others to find it.I am still looking ?

I have an appointment at 2pm in Audiology to have the tubes in my hearing aids changed. I have to go in masked, leave them in Reception, then wait outside in the car for 15 minutes.

Also, rang Dentist yesterday to ask if they had resumed Check Ups. To be told that they were fully booked until June, so I have an appointment on 10th. Lucky I rang as I doubt they were going to contact me.

So pleased your Hall ceiling will finally be completed kitty ! After all the failed repairs.

Blue sky and chilly here, we are on granny duties for the 6yr old and the imp!!

I couldn’t get to sleep last night 3.30am I was still wide awake. I was replaying in my mind the lovely day I had, visiting my darling sister and her family, so much to catch up on and they have had so much work done on their house. We also visited DH SiL as his brother is in hospital, they are working on a plan along with the hospital to get him home.

I realised it was our first time out of Essex for 17 months (last time was our arrival back from Africa) unheard of under normal circumstances, fortunately the M25 was kind to us!!

My arm feels as if I have been kicked by a horse after 2nd Pfizer jab, so far no other side effects, I shall keep everything crossed ?

Grand National. In the early 89s, we were living in Jersey. One of the horses was called “Corbiere”, which is the name of a bay and lighthouse there. Of course, most of the island bet on said horse which went on to win! The bookies weren’t happy. ?

Good morning Mick, morning all from cold and frosty South Lanarkshire.

Yesterday was busy as we visited DoutL to help with the children while she had work meetings. She’s still on maternity leave but has a couple of meetings before she returns to work properly. As the youngest isn’t yet one year old we are allowed to support her. It still feels really odd to me that we can look after those GC in their house but not see the other GC who live much closer although not in the same local authority area. Hey ho, just a few more weeks and we’ll be able to visit their garden.

Beautiful handiwork Sar and Grandmattie and what a fine looking bull s&g, I hope he does his duty.

Great to hear of so many of you having second doses, and Ashcombe’s DH about to have his first. I feel we are creeping towards being able to have more normal experiences, even being able to have a coffee sitting outside a cafe would feel like a real treat Mick.

We will visit a garden centre today as yesterday the almost four year old asked if she could grow lettuce and carrots on their balcony so Grandad promised her she would have her own tiny garden in one corner. He will be delighted to buy a couple of little planters and whatever else takes his fancy. He also needs some alpines for the new rockery so we’ll see what they have.

Nannagarra, don’t keep us in suspense!Growing up in Liverpool the Grand National was such an exciting event.Everywhere had a sweepstake, in our little family, the extended family, workplaces, even the local shops.When I was in my early twenties I worked just down the road from Aintree racecourse.It took me well over an hour to get to work but I loved going past the racecourse everyday.I was really surprised when I left Liverpool in my mid twenties and have never really followed the racing but may do a family sweepstake tomorrow for old times sake????

Good morning Mick, good morning all from a grey, still, cold Anglesey. Got the call for my second jab tomorrow morning, woohoo, ever closer to a road out.
My lovely new neighbour who is renovating the derelict house next door is currently living in a caravan. She is working so hard and such long hours I have occasionally passed in a hot meal in the evening and this week she shared a big slab of her Christmas cake with me. Rum soaked and gorgeous I have eaten it all already. Today I must, I really really must start my diet, it won’t be long before I am as wide as I’m tall if I don’t get a grip.
Glad your hall roof is finally watertight Kitty, it’s been a long haul for you. Ooh that is quite funny but unintentional.
It would be lovely to see Gillybob posting again and I imagine the welcome would be amazing. She is sincerely missed.

Good Morning from N. Bucks where it is dull and chilly.
Missed you all yesterday as we had to be out early to take DHs car for it’s service a 20 minute drive away. I had to follow to bring him back and the do the reverse later. The furthest I’ve driven for some time.
Just as we arrived home after dropping the car off, DD3 arrived with DGS. He wanted to show us his new Lego, so we sat in the garden and helped him make up the model. GaveDD a bit of a rest, her baby is due in 3 weeks, that’s if they don’t decide it needs to come sooner.
Spent some of the afternoon making some new masks as it seems we will be wearing them for a while yet
DH is off to golf today so I shall amuse myself in some way.

Good morning Mick and all from a sunny Wiltshire. Marydoll, you have travelled far and wide in your dream last night! Sar53 - I’m sorry to hear about your daughters cat ?.
Yesterday I weaned the orphan lambs off their milk and they are now in a penned off section of the field behind the house. They are NOT HAPPY this morning!? Nor are they being quiet about their displeasure! As I’m hoping to do a bit of gardening today I will have to continue to listen to their cussing and swearing - what joy (not!). They’ll settle down in the next couple of days but blimey, do they ever make a racket!
Nobby, the new bull however is VERY HAPPY!?. It appears that he has lost his virginity, probably a couple of times over since his arrival on Wednesday!?. He had 2 girlfriends glued to his side yesterday and was circulating around the herd constantly looking for a third to join his harem - Go Nobby!! A couple of grans have asked what will become of poor Bogdon - I wish I knew the answer. I very much doubt that he’ll get fit enough to work and even if he does improve, I’d be concerned about selling him on. We’re not having much joy from the seller we bought him from. Currently, Bogdon is still in the ‘withdrawal’ period from the antibiotics he was given - this is the period of time that it takes for medications to leave the body before an animal can be slaughtered for meat - so we can’t send him to slaughter. For the time being, he will have to remain with us having tender, loving care and then, once the withdrawal period is over, we’ll have to decide, with our vet, if he’s fit enough to go ‘off on the wagon’ or not. It’s very disappointing as we had high hopes for him and I’ve become very fond of him in the time he’s been with us.
Today’s plans are to move the ewes and lambs into a new field, give the rams a pedicure and move them into a new field and hopefully find time to do a food shop before the weekend.

Starting again! Good morning from a bright and sunny ?Northampton. I will probably go outside today and check on the plants I potted up on Monday, and will probably cut the grass as well. I should wash the kitchen floor, but anything to avoid housework.. Or I might sit and read....

DD came over in the afternoon yesterday, and took me to have my second vaccination. As at the first time I went it was very well organised, and I was in and out in under 5 minutes, no queuing. They are giving everyone a leaflet with blood clot symptoms on. DD (38) although not called yet, has decided to wait until she can have something other than the Astra-Zeneca vaccine. Her work (the County Council) are now offering jabs to the over 40s, but it is the AZ one.

Nothing else planned for today. Take care everyone and stay safe.

It feels a bit warmer in Devon today. I'm off to Budleigh beach to meet a friend. I can probably just see Ashcombe round the coast because the cruise liners are visible from here.

Good morning from a damp Nottinghamshire. It actually rained overnight which I was glad to see, the ground is so very dry here and the garden really needs it. I wish it would always rain at night!
Your hall saga sounds dramatic, kitty. A similar thing happened to one of our daughters when she was cat feeding for a friend, she was quite upset, although there was nothing she could have done about it.
Yesterday we went for a little walk by the beautiful Trent, and I had a zoom call with three old friend from the sixties!
Today we have a garden centre list to buy, including a new lawn mower, and maybe another walk.

Sar deep cleaning sounds dire, I’d need drugs. And Marydoll what a disappointing day after such a good Wednesday, you’re very stoic. I watched the race and saw Getaway fall at the last, I too hope he’s alright. Much excitement for your hallway kitty, long time coming. Yesterday’s ‘excitement’ here was an Asda delivery then DH and I watched the automatic vents closing on the greenhouse late afternoon, that’s what we’re reduced to! Today a bit of a tidy up, my beside table is full of clutter and it’s reached action time. I need to find my rubber gloves, another GN member recommended some toilet cleaner but I need to glove up, I’m coming to the conclusion we need two new toilets upstairs. Have a pleasant day all, Marydoll in particular, hoping the odd ? passes by.

Interest in the Grand National prompts a memory from about 9 years ago. I don’t follow the gee-gees and very, very seldom place a bet. However I had been listening to a national radio station and for three days I kept hearing the name of a horse which was going to ride in the GN. I read up and noticed another runner with a very similar name.

Armed with a piece of paper upon which I’d jotted down the name of ‘my’ horse and two others together with three £5 notes for win-only wagers, I quietly slipped out of the house and joined a long queue at the bookies. At the counter I realised the cashier had misheard ‘my’ horse’s name and put my fiver on its closely-named competitor. What should I do? Should I seek the patience of those behind me, act promptly and ask for an alteration? Was I brave enough to do it?

I returned home to watch the race with DH. DS and GF (now wife) had also placed bets; as each and every one of their horses fell, we could hear their groans from his room.

Only I knew about my bet. Just for a bit of fun I kept my counsel, secretly enjoyed the encouraging screams of the crowd and concealed my mounting excitement.

Three of the names I knew were out: one remained. Hooves thundered. Fences toppled. The commentary became even more high-pitched. For the only time in my life I was like the generations of my ancestors who bred and trained horses for Aintree, Epsom, etc.: I was totally engaged. Had I possibly chosen a winner?

But who was the winner? The race went to a photo finish…

Would the name match the one I had on the slip?

Good morning from Derbyshire where it's a much milder 5°. We've had a good amount of much needed rain overnight - ideal, as I'm hoping to plant some onion sets this morning and the ground was far too dry. The plants in the garden were starting to look a little parched too.

Yes, Marydoll unfortunately GT did have a fall at the last fence when looking like he would run into a place. Thankfully he was absolutely fine afterwards and is now back home taking it easy. Sorry to hear you had a bad day yesterday - hope you feel better today.

gaga I have a very unusual tip for nighttime cramps. A piece of soap in bed - it was very effective for me for about 2 years. Then it stopped working!! At the moment it’s cork in my bed that seems to be working.
My DDs are now testing themselves for COVID and DD1 and DGD came round yesterday and we played a board game. It felt good to be ‘normal’
Mended an outfit DD2 ‘designed’ when she was 6 and I made it up for her - I wasn’t allowed to get rid of it after she outgrew it, it’s now ready for DGd to grow into!!

We have a delivery of restaurant type meals today as well as French yogurts and pain au raisin for our weekend breakfasts.
DH has been given an appointment for a scan next week and radiotherapy the week after, we hope this will help give him a little more mobility.

Yesterday started off well, we had a visit from Dollie, when her mum came to pick up the carpet cleaner, only it wouldn't fit in her Mini, so to her great delight, papa had to follow her home. After receiving precise directions from her, just in case he got lost. ?
She was an absolute joy! I can't wait until she is able to be in the house again!

It went downhill after that. Out of the blue, I started to feel nauseous and unwell. Very similar to when I had my last heart attack. Between the lengthy vomiting (TMI) and nosebleed, I felt awful.
After reassuring DH, I did not need checked out, I took myself off to bed, where I slept until 7pm. Another day written off!

Beauregard, DH told me Getaway fell yesterday. I hope to hear, he is ok. ☹

A night of bizarre dreams, involving a stay in Melbourne, Australia. Apparently I was backpacking, but was asked to return a car back to the airport for a random stranger. Did you know that Melbourne looks ridiculously like Stoke on Trent (I've visited the potteries there), but the bus depot is an exact replica of the one in Chester, barrier gates and all?
Strangely, there was another random stranger in the car, who looked remarkably like DH. However, it couldn't have been him, for this person remained silent and remarkably restrained when I drove on the wrong side of the road!
I'm exhausted after all that excitement.

I think a gentle day is in store. DD does surveys, for which she claims rewards, which are shopping vouchers. She sent me an email with eighteen Tesco vouchers to print, (she doesn't go to supermarkets, to keep me safe, so they have accumulated. However, I'm having problems printing them. That is my problem solving task for today.

I do have another problem to deal with.
Yesterday, I received a Dorothy Perkins order, mostly items for DD's birthday. The order arrived with no delivery note, no returns label and a security tag still attached to the jacket. It appeared to have been thrown together. ?
I really can't complain. I spent £42 for over £200 worth of clothes and got free delivery into the bargain! ?

Tesco delivery today, so DD will work up here and deal with it for me. It will be nice to have some company. I plan to ask her to clean a rug for me.?
