Good morning from Cheshire. Cold again but bright.
Husband and son are bell ringers so will be contributing to 99 rings for Prince Philip in local church at noon. Watched quite a bit of the coverage yesterday. Decided needed cheering up in the evening and watched a favourite "Derry Girls" episode.
Have only read page one of today's posts so will enjoy later.

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a slowly brightening South Yorkshire. I have my second Covid jab later today but wouldn’t have known a thing about it had I not taken it upon myself to phone the surgery yesterday to find out if I was anywhere near being offered one, only to be told I had been booked in since Wednesday. No one let me know! It’s all very unusual. I got a text and then a reminder last time.
Nothing much planned today. We may go out at some point of I can lever DH away from the golf. Have the best day you can folks.

Good morning all from a grey and chilly Teddington. I need to pot on some beans today, not much else planned, apart from more sewing. I had my second Pfizer jab yesterday, the site is slightly tender, but I feel fine, so far so good! Really looking forward to the shops opening on Monday, I need some buttons and birthday cards. Good morning from a much brighter Black Country.

Had my hearing aid tubes changed yesterday, and the difference is quite remarkable! Everything suddenly seemed much louder.

Jet2 sent an email yesterday cancelling our flight to Rhodes. In fact all flights up to and including 23rd June. We were meant to go on the 13th. I am quite relieved as I didn't really want to go, but now we get a refund. We shall start looking at booking campsites with our touring caravan on those dates now. We have flights booked to Portugal in late September (booked in 2019) but no accommodation yet. I am not keen on that either, but probably we will have to lose the money .

Such a sad day yesterday hearing of the loss of D of E. Even radio channels changed their programming.

Good morning from a decidedly chilly Essex by the sea. We were out early as DH had to be dropped off. Home now and I have an empty until I collect him this afternoon.
I'm having a Zoom call with DD2 and DGD1 and DGD5 later, looking forward to that.
No other plans so may start my new cross stitch that arrived yesterday.
I also was very sad to hear about the DofE, a huge loss to the Queen.

Good Morning everyone. We have ☔️ Today and tomorrow. Neglected indoors chores will go ahead (or not), but happy that rain will help the lawn which was cut and fed yesterday.

Busy birds are still working on a very good nest at the top of a pillar and under cover - literally, not MI6 stuff! I put some fluffy bits out there yesterday and they’ve incorporated that into their Grand Design. Looks like a very good nest this year - not slapdash at all! They’ve raised their babies very successfully every year and we’ll keep fingers crossed for that again.

Try to find some pure soap, such as Savon de Marseille, Gaga. You want something plant and olive oil based - nothing synthetic, perfumed or involving petroleum. I was desperate when I found that my Mum had just been left on Quinine Sulphate tablets (no checks made) for her restless leg problem, then nightly cramps. My cleaning lady recommended I use the soap in the bed. My Mum was terribly sceptical about anything as a very old lady, so I never told her.

The staff in the Home used to make her bed and leave the big bar of soap at the feet end and Mum was so small that her feet would never have touched the soap. She stopped talking about her rotten sleep, due to cramps, and one day when I asked her about the problem, she said she didn’t have nightly cramp anymore! Maybe it only works for some people, but worth a try I feel.

I, too, was very sad about Prince Philip’s death. Not entirely unexpected, but nevertheless the end of an era and, for the Queen, an incredibly difficult loss to cope with.

Glad you feel better, GG, and hope yesterday brought you some brightness in having a joint treat, harri. The champagne siesta was just a bonus. Hope your arm recovers very soon now,

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Clear blue skies and frosty lawns today.
I used the last of the stored rain water for the pots yesterday. It’s a long time since we had ‘proper’ rain. The lawns need feeding but that will have to wait until we have a wet spell.
Some ironing to do after my Saturday treat of coffee and croissants.

Good morning from a grey and chilly North Hampshire. Yesterday my daughter took me for fish and chips by the sea. I’ve been craving them for what seems like months! Annoyingly I can’t walk far at the moment, but enjoyed a short amble along the sea front.

It was during this trip out that we heard the news of the Duke’s sad, but not unexpected, death. I sincerely hope the Queen gets all the support she’ll need. I’m worried about her.

Good morning all. -3° in Polmont and a lovely day albeit cold. I have a trip to Aldi soon and some housework. Yesterday I weeded front and back gardens. I keep on top of the weeds so it didn't take long. I heard good news. My son in law has a new job! He was made redundant in December because of covid then became unwell. He's still not fully recovered but I'm hoping this new job will help him. He's had more tests done so hopefully a course of antibiotics will sort things out. Have a good day all.

Good morning all from an overcast S Hants, +6, I hope we get the rain that’s forecast. I need to go to the allotment as the spuds are peeking through and need earthing up as we have frost forecast over the next couple of days. The vines in France have been decimated by frost, so much so it’s triggered a government payout. What a beautiful arrangement Ash. Lots of visits today, I hope you all enjoy your trips out and family catch ups; we too will watch the Grand National and remember the Queen as she mourns.

Good morning from S Lanarkshire, very cold but with a lovely blue sky.
Yesterday I enjoyed a lovely walk and talk with a friend, just outside our wee town, but I had not taken that route before so it felt refreshingly different.
Another pleasant moment was the arrival some of beautiful flowers. My eldest daughter’s birthday present to me was 6 monthly deliveries so I have that to look forward to.
The flowers in your church porch are lovely Ashcombe and with the sign in the background, a gentle record of these times.

Good morning everyone from a grey and wet Northampton. Glad I got the grass cut yesterday. I inspected my new plants as well, and as one was showing signs of frost damage, moved it into the summerhouse to overnight. Shall bring it out each day. And I did manage to wash the downstairs floors as well! Have got the steam cleaner upstairs ready for the bathroom floors. Decided I needed more detergent for it so looked on Sainsbury's, £12 a litre, Amazon £7. 99 a litre and free delivery. Guess where I ordered it from!

Very sad news about Prince Philip. Spent the afternoon watching tv coverage, but had had enough by the evening, so watched a few of my recorded programmes instead.

Must wear my lucky socks today as my rugby team Northampton Saints play in the quarterfinal of the European Cup tonight. May be watching from behind the sofa!

No real plans for today except the Saturday papers and crosswords, reading and knitting.

Good morning everyone from a gloriously sunny, windy and possibly freezing cold day ahead on the east coast of Fife. My days are flying past at an impressive speed. Wish I could enjoy them more. My DH hasn’t yet managed to take me out since his fall for a wee run in the car and I feel a little left behind. I wish his sore shoulder would heal more quickly. Perhaps today will be my lucky day.

Anyway not to grumble my DS took her wee dog to get her coat trimmed yesterday and while she waited she went into an m&s and brought home loads of enjoyable food supplies.

We had Turkey breast, baby new potatoes, and asparagus with a Yorkshire pudding for tea last night it was delicious. I watched loads of netflix trying to finish the series shitts creak which I found so funny I don’t suppose it’s everyone’s cup of tea.

Yesterday we enjoyed a lovely walk with the DGC along the beaches at Rosemarkie just near Inverness. The weather was mixed to say the least, sunny one minute then horizontal sleety snow the next but we all had a good time and it was great to see them all!
Hope the follow up appointment goes ok dwm and things have settled down ok
It’s good that the swimming lessons and activities are starting up again susan more little steps back to normality

Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire where the ground is once more covered in sparkling frost. The sun is shining in a pale blue sky, it’s a beautiful morning.

Yesterday we traipsed around several garden centres, they’re strung out along the valley road, gathering a few alpines and replenishing my stock of birthday cards. One of them now has a food hall which wasn’t there the last time I visited so I picked up a couple of ready made puddings to try. All the new plants will be spending the next few days sitting on fleeces in the garage until it’s safe to plant them.

That’s always been one of my tasks Susan, I’ll be happy to get back to it when the children return to their real meetings.

You’re brave Kalu, I dread to think what my hair would look like if I were to let my DH near it with scissors.

We had the painter/decorator round to give us a quote to do the outside of the house . Quite a lot more than expected! We’ve had him before and he was very reasonable. I think everything has increased during lockdown. People have to make up for their losses. We had a little barter with him and he came down a bit so we will still have him. Such a nice man. He will do it while we are away next week.

I phoned my DB1 last evening and as usual, had a five minute chat to him and then a 40 minute listening ear to my SIL.. She has been poorly now for a couple of years, but as soon as one symptom disappears, another arises. She worries about herself so much , I think a lot of it is in her mind. I just listen and hopefully make the right noises. I love her to bits but my DH hasn’t much patience with her. When we eventually get to see them face to face , I hope DH won’t make remarks ????.

Well folks, have as good a day as you can. Not much going on here, but will read and crochet and do a bit of housework.

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is sunny at the moment. I will go out and get the guinea pigs cleaned out whilst it is dry.
DH and I are then taking a walk down the riverside to Halfords to pick up a bulb and some bike bits, then meander back I do hope it stays dry as it is a wonderful walk that I don’t like to rush.
Not a lot else planned for today so I may do a bit of cleaning!

Good morning from Morecambe Bay where we have a clear blue sky. There’s a touch of frost but I don’t think it went as cold as forecast.
I think I’ve lost half a dozen Senetti plants, three which my son bought me for my birthday. It’s just been too frosty and cold for them. They are usually quite happy with a touch of frost but this week has been bitterly cold. All the magnolias locally have gone brown just as they we in full bud.
The joys of gardening!
It’s my phone call this morning to my friend in Somerset if the phone works. BT have apparently upgraded us and we have to do something we haven’t done for it to continue working . The sideboard needs to be pulled out to get at the wires and that’s an effort! I have to use the landline as she can’t hear me on the mobile. Will also speak to our friends in Shetland later. We have booked to see them in July. Hopefully that will go ahead. The ferry company will refund us if we still can’t travel. July seems an eternity away at the moment.
Thinking particularly of Cherry, Mary and Auntieflo and all who are struggling.

Good morning everyone from cloudy Nottinghamshire.
Sad news for about Prince Philip, although not unexpected of course. He led a remarkable life with so much done behind the scenes for young people, and the environment. Two of my daughters competed at the Horse of the Year show in the Prince Philip cup, a competition designed for ‘ordinary children on ordinary ponies’, to give them a chance to compete at the biggest shows. It was such a thrilling experience for them.
We’re off to see our son and his wife today in Cheshire, we haven’t been there since 2019, although they have come here. The weather is set to be good. ??
We will enjoy our day, I hope you all do too.
