The Queen's Speech

Always watch it, it is a tradition, and much to my surprise, my adult children do too.

I always like to watch the Queen's speech at Christmas. Her broadcast to the nation near the start of the pandemic was absolutely wonderful. It was spot on and I know many people were glad of it.

No, no TV in this house anyway.

I know Covid restrictions have made every day seem the same but it's APRIL

Our HoS only speaks to her subjects once a year and its scripted, that's all we ever hear. A president takes a leading role at times of national celebration, uncertainty or tragedy

Queen did speak out about the covid crisis but that was several months after the outbreak of pandemic.

I dont listen and none of my family do but I think quite a few people would object if it was moved.

Usually away at Christmas and don't watch it as I will be doing something else but pick up the gist of it on the news.

Wrong time of day for us but I think some expats do watch it.

Probably, but if only 8 million people watch it, meaning 60 million don't, perhaps he will choose a day that will be more inclusive. Many people of different faiths embrace the festive consumerist side of Christmas, but a lot do not.

I dont think it's to do with the timing, I think that's the level of interest within the population. I imagine you would get less people if it was broadcast on another day. Many people are in front of their TV on xmas day.

We always watch it, as part of our Christmas tradition. I can't see what would be gained by changing the date. It is on at 3pm and again later in the day. We usually record it at 3 and watch when it is convenient if we are busy cooking or eating.
