Today , for me start of an interesting week, with appointments in the later part of the week.
I will watch most of the Giro cycle race stage by stage ,and see how the Brits progress in the race .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from Morecambe Bay where it is dry and still. Am off to the church garden to plant up and thin the Spanish bluebells before it rains. Will look at Ash’s video when I get back and catch up. I took a photo of DH’s plans for our arbour. They will begin a record of its progress.
Take care and stay safe everyone

Good morning from a bright and sunny Essex by the sea.
DH is off to his boat today whilst I do the housework, washing and ironing, my cup runneth over ???.
I also need to go to the local post office at some stage.
Have a great Monday and find those ? xx

Good morning all. We have blue skies in Polmont at the moment and it's already 9°.
Your week sounds interesting Mick. It's good to hear that Iris is improving,*Grandmattie*. It sounds like a really difficult situation, QuaintIrene.
Yesterday I did go to the garden centre and was in and out within half an hour. I planted baskets with lettuce, parsley, and strawberries, then put chives in my herb pot. I laid three stepping stones to my summer house and could really do with a fourth. I bought some lovely sweetpeas in a wicker container. Then I planted nasturtiums. They're on the kitchen window sill to bring them on. All in in all, a busy garden day.
Today is a babysitting one. Dd has sent me a message to say dgs is emotional as he's been up since five. He's either sickening for something or he's tired already. So it could be a challenging day. We'll go to the park for a little while but I think he might have an early nap. However you spend your day, I hope you have a good one.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It’s brightening nicely in South Yorkshire. We had a walk yesterday morning and then managed to get plants into the ground in the afternoon as the weather is set to warm up. Today DH needs to go and get his glasses adjusted and I am going to buy a couple of sweaters while he’s doing that. I was sorry that we decided not to go to watch GS play football yesterday because they won and he got Man of the Match. I told him he will always be our Man of the Match!
Have a good day, folks, whatever you’re doing.

Grammaretto Mon 10-May-21 07:54:09

Good Morning all from the Scottish Borders. Damp but not as cold so I think the veg seedlings I planted out yesterday will have survived the night if not the pigeons...

I now know something about leaky ceilings QuaintIrene I'll pm you.
There are 2 streamed funerals this week. I think this may continue for people who find it hard to travel or aren't close family.
Laundry and "paperwork" on today's agenda.
What do you call it when it used to be paperwork but is now online?
Homework?
I bought the same Lego as you did for my DGD, grandMattie I couldn't resist it. I am happy to hear that Iris is doing so well.

Hoping everyone has a productive and pleasant day.
I enjoyed the ponies too Ashcombe

Good morning and it’s sunny here in Essex.

Elizabeth those poached eggs have started my mouth watering ! ?

Ash what a sweet video. ?

Quaint how annoying. ?

We had a lovely lunch at DS1’s yesterday. Very warm, so sat out in the garden. Roast Pork with crumble for pud. We didn’t need anything for the rest of the day. It did make me so sleepy though. Wine and a big meal at lunchtime . ????

Today I was supposed to go swimming with DD but she’s just cried off. I probably won’t go on my own - I need someone to motivate me.

DH is due to have a docs phone call at 9 to give him the results of his blood test. Hopefully find out what’s going on with him. ?.

I’m hoping to get to see my DB and his wife one day this week. She has been poorly for a year now and has been shielding.

dmw I feel like you. Would like to change my loung/diner around but not sure what to do. It seems perfect as it is, but I just fancy a change. DH won’t be any help . He doesn’t like change (or having to do anything) ?. Let me know how you get on with yours.

Hoping you all have a good day. ?

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry but seems chilly out. I’ve just had a quick shower and am about to have more tea with some toast and lime marmalade before heading out to an appointment with the hygienist. It’s the dreaded water jet session today.

The Bubble is booked in for a service so Himself will drive it over and get the train back - at least the station is just over the road! We are taking my stepfather up to Plockton in 6 weeks and want to make sure our little car has enough oomph to get us up there as it’s an 8 hour trip (stopping for a picnic at Loch Lomond).

Will read all the messages when I get home. Hope Monday is good to us all. Keep safe. x

Good Morning Mick and everyone, sunny and breezy here in the VOWH, but it’s 8 degrees, yaaay.

Marydoll is your needle too high in the slot or too low? I broke a couple of needles as I didn’t have my glasses on when I stuck it in the slot.

Another sitting down day today, as legs aren’t too good, but at least I can breathe again! Simple pleasures.

Have a good day everyone.

NannyJan53 Mon 10-May-21 08:07:48

Good morning from a bright but cloudy Black Country.

Despite the forecasts it didn't really rain yesterday, so was able to sit outside for lunch. Had a chat on the phone with a friend, she couldn't come out for a walk as her son was coming over to do some heavy lifting for her.

Off over to Birmingham today for my 2nd jab smile. Had a terrible dream last night, where I was late for it, and too far away to get there in time. DD had her 2nd one Saturday, she is 42 so I assume it is because she is a Teacher?

Then we are off to Solihull to order the sofa and chair we have decided on. One last try out to make sure we have made the right decision.

So sorry about your roof Irene I know how upsetting it can be.

Wishing you all a good day

Pittcity Mon 10-May-21 08:18:11

Good morning from a brightening Colchester.
After a lovely warm day in DD's garden yesterday it rained overnight. That is how weather should be!
Not as warm or dry here today, but still more seasonable than of late.

Clearing our bedroom today as the carpenter is coming to build wardrobes tomorrow. I am so looking forward to finally sorting our clothes out 2 months after our house move.

Much love to all x

ginny Mon 10-May-21 08:23:07

Good morning. There was a blue sky earlier but now the clouds are gathering.
DH is off to golf and I can’t decide what to do today. Part of me wants to go off to ‘ the big town’ ( haven’t been for months and the other part can’t be bothered. I’ve plenty I could do at home so I’ll decide after breakfast.
Hope you all find a ?today.

Anniebach Mon 10-May-21 08:26:45

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

It looks quite nice out today here in Notts. DH is planning to give the lawn a trim as it has grown quite a bit with the latest rain - and it’s garden bin day tomorrow so we need to top it up! Yesterday I went out for a drive/walk while he watched football, trying to get my ‘going out’ confidence back. Than I made macaroni cheese for tea, an old favourite.
I just love the ponies, Ashcombe - I noticed they have little rubber boots on. They must be unshod but need a bit of protection still on a day out!
Lovely to hear of your trip away, Elizabeth, back to a bit of normality.
Enjoy your day, everyone.

Purplepixie Mon 10-May-21 08:36:01

Good morning from a cloudy and breezy east Midlands. The diet starts today! Fedup with clothes not fitting. A walk this morning and making cushion covers for my DIL. Have a lovely day everyone and stay safe. ?

EllanVannin Mon 10-May-21 08:38:05

Good Morning All x.
Sunny at the moment but a big difference in the atmosphere, no coldness like there has been. Unsettled though as it'll be shower-dodging all week.

I'm driven mad by the smell of cat wee. A strange cat had jumped in through the back kitchen window yesterday and as I chased it, it immediately peed against my waste bin. I threw a jug of water at it, dirty old tom. I had to set to with a bucket of boiling water and Zoflora to wash the bin and surrounding area and during the course of the day it seemed to fade-----but I can smell it again so I'll wash the whole of the kitchen floor today. All windows are open.

Why don't people get their tom cats seen to ? I'm annoyed.
Not a good start to the day.

I'll take my chances and wash the bedding today, though I'll probably be in and out like a dog at a fair if it's showery.

Loved the ponies video Ashcombe , the smaller one running behind with its little short legs, a delight.

Now I'm wondering how the minky whale will get on in the Thames, poor thing. The young chap has lost its mum, aww.

I hope you can make some headway with your roof problem QuaintIrene. It's the waiting and not knowing which is frustrating as well as the rain getting in, what a nuisance.

Glad you enjoyed your break Elizabeth it sounds just what was needed----and those poached eggs were perfection, lush.

Iris seems to be doing so well bless her and just getting on with it. Children are so resilient.

I hope everyone's day goes well, with appointments etc. Enjoy whatever you do ( in between showers ) if it's out and about or jobs in the garden.

Take care and stay safe all. Thoughts to those who are struggling x. Absent friends x.

Good morning all from Portugal where although it’s not raining at the moment it has been for most of the night. The forecast is more rain later then fine for the rest of the week but that seems to be changing hourly.

Nothing planned today. DH had his second vaccine on Saturday but I’d been told to wait until I’d had two weeks without steroids, however having worked his way to the head of the queue and explained why I wasn’t keeping my appointment, he was told to come and collect me immediately! Thirty breathless minutes later we both presented ourselves (having been able to bypass the very well organised queueing system) and after yet another doctor’s confirmation I received my second jab. No ill effects apart from a slightly sore arm.

Alygran Mon 10-May-21 08:48:43

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Hazy sunshine so far.
It was a reasonable day yesterday so I got washing dry and some gardening done. The back lawn is much better than I expected as I think I overfed it.
It’s board day today! Ironing this morning and meeting this evening. I’m not sure yet how to fill the middle of the day...
Good news about Iris
Have a good day everyone. Stay safe.

Grandmajean Mon 10-May-21 08:50:13

Good morning. Dull in Cheshire but mild. That will do me fine. Shopping coming later so a lot of unpacking then wiping. Has anyone stopped the wiping down ? It is a chore but am reluctant to stop. Will read mails later.

Lins1066 Mon 10-May-21 08:53:50

Good morning Mick and all from a dry and brightish S Welsh coast.
Garden waste collection today, fortunately Mr Lins put fertiliser on the lawn on Friday before all the rain. Ironing to do this morning which I've been putting off.
We need to ring a plumber as our shower keeps going cold, full joy.
Hope Cherry is ok and some ? for all in need of them for whatever reason.
Hi to Maw and Rosie.
Stay safe everyone.

Stilllearning Mon 10-May-21 09:04:25

Morning from S Lanarkshire, bright and drying up.
Lovely video to start the day Ashcombe, thank you.
I feel for you QuantIrene, you must feel quite despairing, managing things on your own is hard.

Weekenders Elizabeth and baubles sound so upbeat and happy, reminds us of what life can be, hopefully before too long.
I had a great few days a couple of years ago with my eldest daughter and family at the hotel I think you’re at baubles and stunned them by joining in with the Segway activity which, I think, is now banned. It was a bit dangerous but I loved it!

I continue to wait for the garage dismantlers, fingers firmly crossed.

Wishing everyone a good day ??

Pittcity Mon 10-May-21 09:12:00

Grandmajean, I don't know anyone who even started wiping shopping. Wash hands before and after handling is all the precautions I take. Life's too short xx

EkwaNimitee Mon 10-May-21 09:12:43

Good Morning, Mick and everyone. It looks like a day of sunshine and showers here in Carlisle. More of the former I hope as I want to plant up a couple of tubs later.
I took advantage of quieter roads yesterday to take the car on the fairly unknown route to a superstore's petrol station. The roads in and out of the city I know but travelling radially is more tricky. I'm learning them gradually. Having refuelled, I went in the store hoping to get English asparagus and got the last pack, I don't think they'd restocked from yesterday. Naturally, I had to wander round the rest of the vast place and buy more than I set out to. They have a great home department which was useful.
Today, it's into the city centre with a list of errands and hopefully to lose a sack of clothes I've weeded out. I was spoilt in my last home, plenty of storage so I filled it...with lots of clothes I don't often need to wear. I'm going to take a stricter line with myself from now on. I was embarrassed by the amount of boxes that got moved into my new abode.
I hope you progress with your worrying leaking roof QuaintIrene and the relevant people get a move on quickly.
And the best possible day to all.

Urmstongran Mon 10-May-21 09:13:00

Ditto for us Pittcity.

We have always wiped down all the shopping and will continue to do so until it feels safe to us. It is entirely up to everyone else what they do.
