I was so saddened by the interview with harry and megan , why would two people who have got exactly what they wanted are happy to create such pain for others

The pathetic excuses some give for objecting to these threads! There are tons of threads I don’t read if I don’t like the look of them or know the type of comments I’ll find on them. What I don’t do is go on complaining and berating those who do enjoy them. It’s always the same names that do this. It is a form of bullying and intimidation - much like heckling when someone’s trying to speak. Try sticking to threads you do enjoy and stop dictating what others should and shouldn’t do or say.

I think it is probably that people have different ideas of family functioning. I would say that Harry and William were not going to be unaffected by their childhood. Lots of people seem absolutely distraught about archie not having contact with his cousins ( even though we dont know the truth of this) but as I have said I have never had any contact with the majority of my cousins and it was normal and had no impact. Some of us think public exposure of affairs, lack of love seemingly from the beginning, etc etc was difficult family functioning. We all have different ideas of how families function.

theworriedwell Sun 23-May-21 16:37:34

The Queen's father had a terrible childhood as did Prince Philip although I don't think we can blame the British Royal Family for his uncaring father and mentally ill mother.

Tickingbird I agree with you. However, I’m curious to know why there are now 3 threads instead of one. They may start off with a different slant but end up the same!!

There are Keyboard Warriors all over blogs, everywhere! I suspect in the real world they wouldn't say boo to a goose.

tickingbird I enjoy these threads and yes, it is tiresome when the same posters start berating us. They call for empathy, but ironically they show none by often not allowing other posters to offload their own experiences of estrangement. We all come from families and most of us produce offspring, so why shouldn't we discuss things which relate to this?
Atqui OPs of these threads usually try to vary the titles and bring threads up to date. Harry on his own, Harry & Meghan, Oprah are masters at constantly bringing up new protestations, cleverly nuanced to start the ball rolling again.
I do agree they end up pretty much the same, so I hope one day the protagonists will dry up and fizzle out.

Ellianne Sun 23-May-21 17:12:45

Actually, thinking about it, where do Harry and Meghan find the time to do all this? What are their real jobs?
I am retired, the weather is preventing me from going out much, I don't have a child to look after 24/7 and a huge property to run, so I can spare the time to come here to chat, or to knock up a children's book if I wanted.
Harry and Meghan with their busy lifestyle must be exhausted.
Their "job" just centres around promoting themselves.

Smileless2012 Sun 23-May-21 17:21:53

"lack of love seemingly from the beginning" who is this in relation too Galaxy?

I agree that it's tiresome when posters who don't like any of these thread, come on and have a go at those of us who do.

You've just answered your own question Ellianne; "What are their real jobs? .......promoting themselves" and to that I would add at the expense of those who loved, cared for and raised them.

Galaxy Sun 23-May-21 17:44:55

From Charles to diana.

Galaxy Sun 23-May-21 17:46:34

And possibly the other way round who is to know. But there was no way W and H were not going to be unscathed by that marriage. I say that as someone who has definitely done things that have impacted my childre.

Galaxy Sun 23-May-21 17:48:21

My ability to spell properly for example grin

tidyskatemum Sun 23-May-21 17:52:43

Elliane I wish one day soon H and M would dry up and fizzle out!

Iam64 Sun 23-May-21 17:58:27

Bullying and intimidation to express a different point of view ?

Exactly.
Not making light of things, but in my world of dogs, this struck a chord.
Maybe M & H's dogs (and chickens), have thrown in the towel.

lemsip Sun 23-May-21 18:40:36

Thank god harry wasn't born first.

Bagatelle Sun 23-May-21 19:50:16

lemsip Don't!! I'd become a republican.

Love it! ???

Smileless2012 Sun 23-May-21 19:53:04

Nice one Ellianne; hope my dogs aren't secretly thinking the same thinggrin.

Elegran Sun 23-May-21 19:57:04

If Harry had been born first he would have been a bit older when his mother was killed, and might have been a bit more resilient. Or he might not.

Anniebach Sun 23-May-21 20:01:48

Ellianne so funny , now I am wondering if my dogs think the
same ?

Alegrias1 Sun 23-May-21 20:02:06

If Harry had been born first, but still had the same character, what would that have meant for the monarchy? Would he have abdicated? Would he have been forced to abdicate?

If not, would we as a country have accepted the ruination of his mental health as a price worth paying for the continuation of a hereditary monarchy?

But if you know you are right in your attitudes, opinions, comments why do you object to those who disagree commenting? It’s a free country and a free forum.

Boz. I think I know which posters you mean. I’d say they sound perfectly capable of saying boo and more to a goose or any other fowl.

lemongrove Sun 23-May-21 20:48:08

Elliane I love the dog joke, the look in the dog’s eye!?

trisher Sun 23-May-21 22:12:43

It isn't bullying or intimidation to come onto thread, criticise others posting and present an alternative opinion. The fact that some people use such extreme terms indicates I think a little conscience may be niggling those who have spent so long criticisng H&M.

maddyone Sun 23-May-21 22:44:18
