Good morning from a grey and breezy Colchester.
Cold overnight and the heating has bumped on.
I'll be raiding my winter wardrobe and getting the big coat out as we're going to lunch at DD1's to celebrate DGS3's 5th birthday. He's having a pizza party. We'll be outside under a gazebo next to a heater. Thinking of taking hot chocolate instead of a bottle of fizz!! So looking forward to getting and giving hugs.

Teasing DH that we're having a Eurovision party this evening. wink

Love and hugs to all x

Good Morning from an early bird called muse. Sainsbury's delivery due between 8 and 9 ? . First time I've been given the first hour of a four hour slot. I did set the alarm just in case.

Grey skies and drizzle. The birch tree is still learning so hope to hear from Rich, woodsman, today.

MrM has 4 friends arriving this afternoon. So I hope we can sit outside. The drizzle is expect to stop at lunch time.

Urmston forgot to mention I'm 2 chapters in to A Little Life. Still setting the scene but think I'm hooked!

Urmstongran Sat 22-May-21 08:16:13

We just had a laugh.
Got a text from our daughter.... (little miss) ‘is so excited she didn’t want breakfast saving herself for the cafe!! I’ve persuaded her to have yoghurt and a banana’
?
‘Whereas (the boy wonder) has eaten well as usual will manage a big lunch in the cafe and a pizza for tea ha!’.
??

Bet you’ll not be able to put down soon enough muse. Grabbing every opportunity to crack on with it!

Good morning from yet another autumnal type of day, in the Black Country.

Had a good 2 1/2 hours walk yesterday with u3a group around Highgate Common. Although it was chilly and windy, the rain held off mostly.

Today we are meant to be going to DD's for a family get together in the garden for DGD4 who was 10 last Tuesday. There will be 12 of us, so cannot really go in the house. Hard to believe that bundle of joy is now 10!

Wishing you all a lovely Saturday

Good morning Mick, morning all from sunny South Lanarkshire. I hope it lasts.

It was a good day in the charity shop yesterday, I really enjoy all the little chats with customers throughout the day. Certainly not an easy day as the manager likes the bric a brac changed every week and that seems to be my job as well as serving at the till. One chap said it’s the swankiest charity shop he’s ever been in.

Not a lot happening today, bed changing and laundry. If the day stays dry the little pooch will have a longer walk.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day especially those coping with sadness or illness.

Good morning from a dry S Welsh coast, a brief respite today, the odds do not look good for our little one's fifth birthday party tomorrow.
Your husband and grandson will have a great time I'm sure Urm. Back in 2000 we went on a tour of the Nou Camp in Barcelona while on holiday. It was a surprise for our son but we all loved it, the trophy room was amazing. Good luck to your grandson Maw.
Hope all with illness and worries have something to cheer them today. Hope you are better Cherry.

Good morning everyone from what appears to be a sunny start to the day here on the east coast of Fife. However himself says it’s cold outside. I was trying to motivate him to bring the bbq out in preparation for our annual family gathering of the clans Perhaps he’ll change his mind fingers crossed.

Its no wonder I’m cranky this morning I hardly slept a wink last night thinking of my gp appointment next week.I’ve been sent for to be given a shingles jag will it never end ouch ouch.

Good morning all from a chilly, but sunny Glasgow. Its such a pleasure to read the upbeat posts this morning.

I too, am the someone, who only buys papers at the weekend, I usually settle down in the conservatory with James Martin, the papers, a cuppa and a treat. (Probably chocolate)

Yesterday, we were on tenterhooks to see if we were going back into Level 2. The Scottish Government, showed some common sense by looking beyond the high numbers in our very small LA. Apparently, as thought, it is a small number of East Renfrewshire families, who have been mixing with infected Glasgow families. We have a reprieve!

Consequently, we are off to DS2's for lunch, I'm so excited! DD and SIL are coming too. It will be the first time we have all been together, since last year and the first time in someone else's home for well over a year.
To that end, we did home Covid tests last night. As a shielder, I have to do them on a regular basis. That is a saga, I will not bore you with. It's a surprise I'm not in court for murder this morning. Why do men never read, nor listen properly to instructions????? #exasperatedof Glasgow.

I have offered to drive, as I won't be drinking, but may have a glass of Nosecco to be sociable! ?
My main difficulty will be removing Dollie's car seat from my car, to make room. I'm too nervous to drive DH's beast of a car, its the lack of handbrake which puts me off. ( and DH monitoring every manoeuvre) ?

For the first time in over a year, (apart from DD's wedding, I'm going to put on my glad rags and wear ĹIPSTICK, vanity indeed!!!?
However, I'm not sure if I'm happy to give DD a lift. She is seriously in the bad books. Yesterday, she went home with our front door key and only realised later, as did we, when we found ourselves locked in! ? I always frisk her before she leaves ?, but I was lying down, feeling a bit under the weather. She often forgets things, like her purse, phone etc., so I usually check with her, as she is leaving. ( She has dyslexia and is seriously disorganised). This was a first even for her!

No problem, I smugly thought, we have spares. Always the organised teacher, I have a bunch of labelled spare keys, for the children's homes, the neighbours and our church. Unfortunately, I forgot that we had to replace the front door lock during lockdown. More a matter of locked in, than locked down., the keys labelled, spare front door key, were in fact for the old lock. My DD is for it when I see her today! ?

Keeping Gandmajet in my thoughts and all our other dear friends, who are struggling. Happy Saturday, everyone!

I thought I hadn’t seen James Martin on TV recently Marydoll - when are you going to let him out again? (Locked in - aye, right! ??)

God morning everyone from Severnside. It’s damp. My plan is to finish my diy shopping this morning.

Right now I’m going to make another cuppa and read all your news.

Have a good day all ?

Good morning Mick and all from chilly but sunny Lueneburg. I managed to cut almost all the lawn (more grass land really). I treat it as a fitness studio. I had to avoid the frequent rain showers. I am rather lazy so the lounge is still littered with kitchen ware, bedding etc. which I have to box up. Lots of friends have already said that they aré coming to visit - even though I haven`t seen seen the house myself. Oh great, I noticed that The Liverpool football ground is another tourist attraction. It is gone on my list of places to visit. Today nothing planned apart from having a good time. I hope that you all have a good weekend and that you are all feeling as well and happy as possible. grandmafrench : thanks, it works - I had quite a few messages. Apologies to all when I did`t respond to messages.

Just to say that I do have a newspaper every day, but the weekend ones have all the supplements plus bumper puzzle pages as well! Keeps me quiet for a few hours.

Good Morning all from the Scottish Borders where it is still perishing cold but has stopped raining at least.

Blimey Baubles that is a posh shop. It can't be very far from me...... grin

I sensibly didn't venture out for manure yesterday, so will today.
I have received a very excited letter from a distant cousin in NZ who "found" me on Ancestry so no doubt I will spend some time unravelling relatives.

I collected the chair from the upholsterer (where it has been for over a year) and delivered it to DMiL who was delighted. It brings back memories for her and now she'll be able to sit on it again.

Spare a thought too Maw for DS and family who are like yours, but on the NE coast of Scotland. Brrr. Bracing.

Hoping grandmajet is recovering well, that Cherry has a toilet, and that socialising indoors out of the rain is allowed.

Grandmajean Sat 22-May-21 08:47:08

Good morning from a dull Cheshire. Two of the DGC yesterday for tea . Lovely to see them enjoy home made chips ! Strawberries and lemon drizzle to follow . DS ate with us too as DIL working late. Not much today - hopefully a walk.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It’s a gloomy start to the South Yorkshire day, but DRY (for now)! It never stopped bucketing down yesterday. I rang Arks R Us, but their lines were busy......
We are going over to DD’s today to see their new wood fired pizza oven in action and taste the results. I’m not a huge fan of pizza, but never pass up a chance to spend time with the family these days., whatever is on the menu!
Have a good day, everyone.

Alygran Sat 22-May-21 09:02:45

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s stopped raining. Yesterday was a dreadful weather day.
Today I am going to finish planting my summer pots.
I took DGS to the Etihad a couple of years ago. He got to sit in the manager’s seat beside the pitch and in the changing room too. No doubt we will have to go again to see this year’s trophy haul.
Have a good day everyone. Stay safe.

Grandmafrench Sat 22-May-21 09:09:42

Good Morning everyone from a warm and sunny S of France. Mid-evening yesterday the wind got up and threw around lots of small things in the garden, shook the shutters, moaned down the chimney but when I went out last thing with the dogs for a moon gaze and to lock up, all was totally still. Weird!

This will be a brief few lines : my breakfast (in bed) arrived with main dog supervising. She makes a fuss then goes outside, sometimes choosing to stand at my terrace doors asking me to get up - now, please - to let her in. Smaller dog won’t get out of bed for less than £10,000 - or a piece of toast! My smallest cat brought a deceased baby sparrow to the doorstep for us yesterday. She sat slightly apart from this family gift - so pleased with herself. My cats truly don’t hunt, so this is a worrying trend for one who’s 12 years old.

Today, my DH reports, she went out and brought back another bird. We are distinctly unimpressed! In addition she sneaked in here with DH, waited for him to walk away and she’s now sitting across my lap, batting my gold bangle every time time I press this keyboard. Her purring is enough to bring on a headache (mine) and now her arch enemy (our other cat) has escaped into our night side of the house and is standing in the bedroom doorway yelling for attention. Thank you so much DH for a cunning plan to get me out of bed. It’s worked. That older 15 year old cat has just hurtled past at speed - real speed - which shows her great excitement at having used her litter tray. Since the litter tray is at least 40 metres away from me, by the time she’s whizzed past this door she’s got up enough paw spin to cancel any necessary braking and has collided with the rug in the study. I can hear the familiar sliding sound!

That’s it.....I’m out of bed in this madhouse! Of course, they’ll all go into a deep sleep as soon as Mummy’s on the move!

Have a wonderful day, all. Lots of plans and meet-ups and normal stuff. Here’s hoping that some decent weather arrives for you all soon.

I shall start my day with the hosepipe - even before a shower. All my pots are giving me meaningful looks ?.

Hope you’re feeling a bit stronger, grandmajet ?

Take care every single one of you. Only smiling and laughing faces today, if you can!

?‍♀️???☀️??

Good morning Mick and all from a darkening S Hants, it just doesn’t stop. I didn’t get up until half an hour ago, a long sleep. Another weekend only paper reader here, at some point today the plants in my car must be moved to the garden, the strong winds have now passed. Txt from GP yesterday after Thursdays blood test, my sodium is down, more bloods, urine and face to face appointment booked.
You’re a busy lot today! Football visits in various ways, meals inside and out, family reunions, it’s magical, what a difference in a few weeks. That charity shop looks like an antique fair, very flash! I’ll leave you with a picture of DD’s hair, Mum treated her yesterday!
Enjoy your day all, ? for grandmajet.
