Good Morning Saturday
(71 Posts)Good morning Mick and all to come. I hope it stays dry for your bus trip and that your market is open. The wind has dropped here in Suffolk but I don’t think it will stay dry.
I have been awake since 4, which is not a good way to start a day of DGC wrangling. I will sneak another 30 minutes if I can.
I hope the day is kind to everyone.
Good morning from a wet E Kent. There is a sulphurous light which does bode well for sunshine. What a month of horrible weather! All this rain is doing my new plants no end of good; they are settling in wel.
I hope it doesn’t rain in Bicester, Mick and you have a nice mosey around.
I managed to make some Branson type chutney, and get on really well with my quilt yesterday. My mojo has made its way back.
DH, who rarely praises my cooking, said that dinner was as nice as the “poncey stuff” we had in the pub the other night. That is why wevrarely eat out!
Rugby morning and afternoon, so I’m banished from the sitting room. More sewing, ironing of bedding (yep, I actually like ironed pure cotton sheets) and dinner to make.
Wishing a happy day to any birthday grans and relief for those in pain, anxiety or sorrow, courage to the wobbly, and contentment to all GraMmingos. ??☀️?☀️??
Morning Mick and all who follow from a wet south coast.9.8c but the gales have gone. I think we can un-batten the hatches now!
DS has postponed his visit for his training ride on the South Downs Way today until next weekend. Sensible I think given the weather and more heavy showers forecast later today. He is on target with where he wants to be with his fitness and is enjoying his new job so is in good form. That makes me happy.
We are soon off to get the click and collect and my weekly treat of the paper, which I normally read online, but I do like all the extra bits that come with the Saturday edition.
Nothing else planned for today but something will be sure to turn up.
Hope the day is a good one for us all.
Good morning from a grey and wet NE.
It rained all day yesterday and it was more autumnal than spring like.
GD is at a Go Karting party this afternoon and will visit afterwords as it is not far from us.
Looking forward to hearing how the house hunting is going, DS and DIL are looking to move from the house they bought 20 years ago when they left London.
Sister will call with bread to keep us going over the weekend.
I hope we are not going to have typical bank holiday weather.
Enjoy your weekend.
Good morning everyone from a grey and damp Northampton, but at least it's not raining at the moment. Awake early so got up, made tea, and have brought it back to bed, where a cat is taking advantage of my lap.
Another day of reading, the Saturday papers and puzzles, and my knitting. Will probably watch the European rugby cup final later.
Wishing all GNs a good Saturday.
Good morning, one and all, from an overcast but dry (finally) corner of Crewe!
Thank you for all the good wishes yesterday from you kind folk. I’ve had a brilliant couple of days in the company of several friends from my more active days of work, amateur musical theatre and PTA membership.
Another horrendous (short) drive up the M6 in heavy rain brought me safely back to my DD2’s home, where a delicious buffet meal was served, in the company of the resident family plus my step grandson and granddaughter, aged 17 and 18, whom I’ve known since before they started school. The boyfriend of the latter was brought along to meet me and he soon relaxed as we played the children’s version of Cards Against Humanity, which was hilarious at times!
I’m hoping we have no more rain as DGS2 has an outdoor football party planned for this afternoon, to celebrate being 11 last Sunday.
Yesterday, I mentioned my DGS3’s reading of ‘The Wonky Donkey’. Here it is being read by a Scottish grandmother so I hope it will lift any low spirits:-

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry.seems chilly out but I can see the Pennines quite clearly. Hopefully a decent enough day here with a high of 12°C.
Himself and the boy wonder have tickets booked for a tour of Man. Utd’s ground. Taking in the player’s dressing rooms, the tunnel, the pitch etc and then they will have lunch in the Red Cafe and buy souvenirs. I have offered to have our 4y old little miss here for the morning. We shall play Barbies together no doubt, then for lunch go down into the square I think and she can choose between the 3 places where she would like to eat before I walk her home - with her new rainbow umbrella. A shower then would be acceptable!
Later, at tea time the 6 of us have a table reservation in our local pizzeria. It’s getting rave reviews and it only opened last spring right before the first lockdown apparently so it’ll be good to support a new local business.
Hope grandmajet is not feeling too sore this morning with adequate pain control in hospital and that today is kind to all us GraMingoes. Stay cautious. x
P.s. the train into Liverpool Lime Street has just pulled into the station amselerin. It’s 7am!
I must curb this geekiness.
Good morning everybody - grey and chilly here!
Thank goodness the wind has dropped though and it seems to have stopped raining (for now)
Spare a thought for D, SIL, GS and dog glamping by the sea in Essex - but I’m sure they will have a lovely time, they’re not wusses like Granny #mugofteabackunderthe
GS 2 is also having an exciting day, (and an early start) off to play in a football tournament in London with his team (Birmingham City under 10’s) Come on the Blues!⚽️ ?
My day promises to be less strenuous
and I hope yours is too.
Urmstongran I am sure they will have a lovely time. I had never even seen the inside of a Premiership football stadium until 18 months ago when little GS 2 was playing in a tournament at your “other” ground- the Etihad - my eyes were out on stalks! ⚽️
Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it looks rather grey.
DGS activity class has been cancelled this morning but I will still pop over and take him out for an hour.
What a wonderful afternoon I had yesterday. All of the people I love together in my lounge, with the exception of DDiL, the only one of us working (that’s nursing for you!!)
We had lunch delivered from subway courtesy of DS and DS met his new niece. It is so rare I get them all together, so much more pleasant when alcohol is nowhere to be seen?
I have been enjoying the Golf and will settle down this afternoon for day 3.
Have the best day you can today and try to find a smile, if you cannot smile, just try not to cry.❤️
Morning Mick, morning All from an overcast corner of Somerset, far less windy thank goodness.
No matter how good a time I have away from home I do love to be back. Nothing like a sleep in my own bed
. Click and collect this morning then a table booked for lunch. A good enough day ahead.
Look after yourselves everyone, hope Saturday is kind to us all.
Good morning from sunny Ullapool. We (I!) was awake early due to the light coming into the room. We have a dorma bedroom overlooking Loch Broome. I'm drawn to water (must be my birth sign, (Cancer). Couldn't stop looking at the view over the Summer Isles last night. It was a gorgeous sunlit evening. Had a walk round and watched the Calmac ferry depart on its journey to the Isles. It was light until quite late, later than Manchester anyway! Not sure today whether to go to Garloch or Durness but either way hope it stays like this! Urmston your menfolk will love the ground tour. Even I enjoyed it when we went some years ago! Have the best day you can everyone. Hugs for those with cares and worries
for those not feeling too well.
Mawbe how exciting for your son to be playing that football match. Coming from a family of footballers (all local teams) I understand hoe excited he must be. Hope the game goes his way!
Good morning all from here in Essex and at last the wind has died down, but still the rain pours. What a terrible May (weatherwise) we have had and the the weekend isn’t looking any better. Perhaps our summer will start in June ? and carry on until September .
Yesterday we had my DB and SIL her for coffee . So lovely to see them after all this time. DIL has lost nearly two stone in weight and didn’t look very well at all, but she said we had brightened her up, and we chatted away for a good few hours.
I have a new baby blanket to start today and will start a new book for one of my book clubs. ‘Shadow play’ by Joseph O’Connor. I hope it’s good as we’ve had some stinkers lately.
The book club I belong to at my cottage by the sea are having their meeting this evening, but as I’m not up there, I will join them by facetime. We usually plan to sit on the beach but I don’t think that will be happening tonight.
Paper day today and like Bluesaphire only have them on Saturdays. The supplements with puzzles etc keep us busy all the week.
Let’s all have a pleasant, relaxing day and ignore the weather .
☔️??
Morning Mick and All.
Weather looks better today after our continuous rainfall yesterday on our short break away. We decided to postpone our trip to Marlborough till today which looks like a good move as things have improved. Will report on my purchases tomorrow.
Hope you all have the best day possible during this inclement weather. Maybe we need to build an ARK. ⛵️⚓️
Good morning everyone from Inverness where at last it’s stopped raining and the sun is trying to come out - yeah!! Yesterday we had non stop rain all day and the garden is looking very soggy this morning...
The lovely news of family get togethers, days out and stays away really lifts my spirits - it’s so good to see life getting a little bit better at last
Hope the Glamping goes well Maw and they all have a great time and the little football star enjoys his tournament
Your day sounds just perfect Urms and I’m sure your DGS and DH will enjoy the football tour - sounds great!,
I think I’m meeting up sometime with DD2 and DGC today, not exactly planned yet but vaguely mentioned yesterday so we’ll see if it happens - I’ll get ready just in case!
Enjoy your time in Scotland mancgirl!
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?
Good luck for the Birmingham City u’10s team today! ⚽️
Good morning from DD2 's in Kent. Thursday we had a busy few hours in Bluewater and yesterday we wandered around the big blue and yellow building. It has been lovely spending time with them all. My 3 year old DGD is strong willed and very feisty but looks like an angel. I'm not sure what we will be doing today, the weather is not looking good but we are live streaming Glastonbury this evening. Should be fun with a glass or two of wine?. DH is coming for lunch tomorrow and to drive me home.
Have a lovely but probably soggy Saturday and try and find a ? xx
Morning all from a grey North Leicestershire.
Yesterday we went to DD1's house for dinner and had a really lovely time. Chicken tagine followed by chocolate fondue and a really happy family time. DSiL has a new job and is so chuffed. He was an accountant but retrained to work with trees and has just landed his dream job. The children, who are teenagers, were sparky and fun. Even the dog was pleased to see us!
Today, we are starting the process of looking for our next car and looking at new flooring for the en suite.
Good morning, as kitty says, grey here.
Not much planned except a quick nip into town to pick up prescriptions and maybe a coffee if it is p,rasa the enough outside. I am still not too happy being inside with strangers.
Then weather permitting a walk with a friend.
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning all. The wind has dropped and it is not raining yet here in N. Bucks.
A quick local shop for us this morning and then DH will collect MIL to have lunch and spend the afternoon with us.
Hope you all find a ?today.
Oh dear, somehow the smile emoji keeps changing to a snarl !
Ah , now it’s a smile again.
