Aka 'Guilty Pleasures'

Hello Everyone! ?

Inspired by someone (who will remain nameless) who includes Pretty Woman in her list of all-time favourite films hmm

It can be anything: food; TV; books...

I'll get the crappy ball rolling with Super Noodles (chicken flavour); Celebrity Big Brother (RIP); and the Agatha Raisin books (complete and utter badly written drivel)
Oh, and I can't miss out The Daily Mail (subscription holder blush)

Come on, what are yours?

Thank you! smilethanks

I am addicted to the property renovation shows on HGTV. I record them then watch when I cant sleep.

On TV, Taskmaster and Whose Line Is It Anyway? Both utter rubbish but so funny!
Food wise, Primula cheese spread in mashed potato, yummy! And Beefy Wotsits, chip butties, Tesco Yum Yums and the occasional Sherbet Dipper!

@FannyCornforth...That CBB was the best ever! Pete Burns was incredibly vitriolic.

Pete Burns. I just adored that man

I used to go into Probe in Liverpool just to hear his one liners at customers who were buying records he didn't approve of!

I loved the first Big Brother, before it was a big thing and before it started recruiting the weird, wonderful and wacky. Just normal people, bonding with chickens.

I was renovating at the time and would have it on in the background while working .

Tom Wrigglesworth’s Hang Ups never fails to cheer me up. Check it out on Sounds. Food? Crisps on cucumber sandwiches. Films ...This Happy Breed .

The film 'Raise The Titanic' blush.

Yes - I KNOW that the ship broke up into two massive chunks that lie separated on the sea bed.
Yes - I KNOW that filling it with a gigantic balloon and then pumping that balloon full of air to refloat it would be an absolute physical impossibility.

BUT when that ship is being towed into New York by the tugboats and all the other boats are hooting in welcome - I STILL CRY MY EYES OUT!

I've got it on DVD and yet I insist on watching it whenever it gets repeated on television. My other half just hmmhmmhmm in why I'm watching it - I tell HIM to go and watch 'Trainspotting', 'Bladerunner' or 'Withnail & I' instead wink.

Chestnut - Hammer Horror have been my guilty pleasure since I was a young teen and watched them with my dad on Friday nights. Didn't know they were on BritBox. They also show quite a few on the Talking Pictures and Horror channels on Sky. Christopher Lee was so sexy as Dracula wink

PinkCosmos Mon 24-May-21 13:18:52

Also, chips with salad cream

flowerofthewestx2 Mon 24-May-21 13:19:34

Corned beef, cheese slice and crisp sandwich on white roll.
Condensed milk on part baked crispy rolls (he seduced me with these and Don Williams)
Searching for Big foot and anything Sawquatchy.
Paranormal ghosty stuff.

Dear God I cannot believe that anyone would willingly put money in the pocket of that appalling Murdoch by buying his dreadful paper! After using Fox News to prop up Donald Trump (the man who pushed the 'covid hoax' conspiracy theory. Murdoch pushed ahead of everyone to get his vaccine in the UK late last year. That paper promotes all the most loathsome tensions in our society. Don't forget how hard it worked to get us into the dungheap that Brexit landed on us!

You definitely should have put light hearted in the heading FC!

Carry on insulting everyone with different life experience and views and the left wing will never win an election again! The Tories really appreciate you, crazygranny.

Co-op coleslaw is better than average especially on a jacket potato with butter, salt and black pepper and mature grated cheddar.

If you ever get the chance to see Plan 9 from outer space don’t miss it. It’s considered the Citizen Cane of bad films.
To give you an idea: the spaceship was furnished with wicker chairs and velvet curtains ?

There is also a film called Ed Wood - he was the director of Plan 9. It was about the making of Plan 9. Johnny Depp plays him in the film. He was seriously weird. Plan 9 is so bad it's good. Thanks, Meryl Strep for reminding me of the film. Looking forward to watching it again if I can download it from somewhere.

I seem to be quite alone in loving the movie 'Leap Year'. I can't understand why no one I know likes it. But I do.

FannyCornforth Mon 24-May-21 13:43:03

Kamiso re your comments toCrazygranny - I've never voted Conservative in my life either!

The whole point of the thread (if indeed there is one?) is that you don't have to agree with something; or think that it's Great Art; or Great Literature; or whatever, to enjoy it.

We should all just crack on with gusto doing/ watching/ eating whatever makes us happy, and bugger whatever anybody else thinks! ?

Four in a bed
A very occasional caravan holiday with entertainment
Home bargains (the shop)
Battered cod roe from the chippy

FannyCornforth Mon 24-May-21 13:47:58

I love battered cod for from the chippy! I thought that it was just me!
(Though rationally it can't be...)

FannyCornforth Mon 24-May-21 13:49:27

I got so excited about battered cod roe that my syntax went to pot

Kate1949 Mon 24-May-21 13:50:01

Another corned beef lover here. I also love luncheon meat type stuff, spam shock crisp or chip sandwiches, dolly mixtures, jelly babies. I eat quite healthily usually but these are occasional treats. I also love Gogglebox.

Maggiemaybe Mon 24-May-21 13:50:28

They might be a light read, but there is nothing badly written about the Agatha Raisin books!!!

I've been itching to say that, BelindaB, but thought I might just be biased! I was lucky enough to have afternoon tea with M C Beaton as part of a GN competition prize. She was a highly intelligent, fascinating and slightly formidable woman, who had some great tales to tell. Her books aren't really to my taste, but I read a couple beforehand, and thought that describing them as complete and utter badly written drivel was very unfair.

dolphindaisy Mon 24-May-21 13:52:20
