Good morning from West Sussex. There is a downpour x10 outside. We have had enough rain, thank you. Oh, now it’s hailstones ?
I am going to the cinema
to see Nomadland. I decided to drive rather than get the bus. Now thinking maybe not such a good idea!
Glad to hear your daughter is recovering Susan. Sorry to hear of your bad seizure and after effects Cherry - hope you feel better soon.
Marydoll hope you feel better soon too.
Also thinking of Grandmajet and hoping recovery is going well.
Thank goodness the rain/hail has stopped. I must get a move on.
Thank you to all posters - all appreciated ?

Good Morning Monday
(54 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its bright outside and dry after yesterdays rain here in Brackley .
Today for me , laundry then some housework followed by cycling as its the queen stage of the race in Italy , that refers to number climbs in the stage by the way .
Take Care,
Mick
Good morning Mick, Annie, and all. It is bright and sunny now, but earlier when I went for a blood test, it rained stair rods
Thank you all for the good wishes after my Friday Night date at the hospital. It is becoming a bit of a regular ?
I don't know what happened to my calf again yesterday, but it got so swollen, stiff and painful, and I couldn't weight bear. Luckily we still had a walker in the shed, so DH got it out for me and eventually I managed to get upright. After a few hours, it gradually got a lot better and I had a good night's sleep.
Cherry, sorry to hear that you had a bad night. Make sure you get a rest during the day. Is the kitchen finished yet? I seem to be behind on the news.
You'd think that with all the rain we have had lately, that there wouldn't be much dust lying around, but it's all here, like a duvet over everything. Some of it has been wafted around, and I am going to ignore the rest.
Sending gentle thoughts to all those who are a bit fragile today.
Have a good day one and all..
Good Morning Mick and all
Rain when I dashed outside at 9:00 across to our hut where the shower and toilet are. None in our little cottage. As I dashed back the sun came out
Gave up with Mya's walk yesterday. Had to turn back as part of the track through the wood was flooded.
Garage ringing today with options of what to have done to the car. Then they will want to sort out payment. Never in my life have I paid so much for a car.
grandmafrench. What a long drawn out process for a drink and a bun. A good sense of humour comes in useful.
Hope grandmajet and others are recovering super fast.
Still sitting with a towel on my head so must get it dried.
Take care everyone.
Good Morning All x.
Weather unsettled, sun and clouds but think it might buck up later, hope so as I'm taking a chance with the washing---bedding.
After finishing my dinner yesterday my neighbour rang---from Morrison's, asking me if I needed more cat food, which I did and a couple of tubs of Lurpak while she was there. How handy that was and knowing I liked fresh cream sponge cakes, also brought one of those back. I was thrilled.
I did offer to plate up a dinner for her as I always do extra but she was expecting her daughter for her dinner. Another time maybe.
An annoying phone-call at 08.15 this morning, didn't recognise the number but it kept on ringing all the same. It was a Redditch number so likely to be a scam of sorts.
A bit of shredding to do to keep the pile down. No wonder it piles up when two letters are the same. I don't know about a shredder, I could do with having a bonfire for all the accumulation of " things ".
Apart from that there's nothing on the agenda.
It's lovely to hear of visits, outings and meetings, it feels like an age since this was happening and shows that things are becoming more normal. Make the most of it until the Autumn as the next 3 months will fly by.
My thoughts to those who aren't feeling up to the mark today.x
Also our absent friends. x
Take care everyone and keep safe at all times.xx
Good Morning everyone from a now sunny and blue South of France. What a lot of bizzyness on this thread today - good things are finally happening.
In the sick bay or half way out of it - Stay strong and make a good recovery with everyone's warm wishes, merlotgran. AuntieFlo, poor you - again. What is it about Fridays in hospital? And having to spend your birthday there. Make sure you feel better before you celebrate properly (and belatedly). Grandmajet hope progress is good and you are feeling stronger each day. Relief for you and the family, Susan. Hope your DH is none the worse from toppling into the hedge, Gingster ? for all of you.
What a wonderful photo of your GD, Jax. Hair to die for! Well done you with the win.....more plants perhaps ?
Taichinan and Pants had a dream about you - hope all o.k. in your lives.
I'd definitely smile if my dogs could make soup, dogsmakemesmile
Enjoy your away breaks, B9exchange, Nannyjan and Gelisa. Recharge those batteries and benefit from the change.
Has everyone warmed up yet? It was truly surprising here yesterday - possibly only because we were going on a small trip, hoping to benefit from some lovely scenery and YAY!!! maybe a lunch out since terraces have opened up outside now. DH having his 2nd jab in Carcassonne.
But it was soooooo cold for here, more like a grey autumn day in Northern Europe.
Before we set off we found shoes and trousers and a warm jacket. That was quite surreal, but we're glad we did.
Didn't take flask - big mistake. Too cold for lunch, too cold for coffee outside, so after the vaccine visit we thought on the way back we'll call into a MacDonalds and drive through for a coffee and muffin. Hardly fine dining but not complicated and we don't have to leave the car for a hot drink.
Second big mistake - it went like this :
Good Morning, what would you like?
Me: Good Morning, how are you? Do you do large coffees?
Sorry?
Do you do a big coffee with milk, maybe like a Grand Crème?
No, only small black. We have tea with milk.
Milk shake? Says DH
Machine broken, she says.
OK tea. What do you have?
We have Earl Grey (Hurrah!!!!!) and Raspberry and Ginger and...
No, I don't want a Tisane. Earl Grey for me please and do you have an ordinary black tea.
No, only Earl Grey!
(DH stifles a sob!) Me:: OK just the one Earl Grey please with milk.
And two muffins
We have Chocolat or Myrtilles
One of each please, that's all.
We pay, we receive a ticket, we go to the next window, then we are asked to wait in the designated waiting area!
5 minutes a runner arrives with one tea and two muffins and a Bon appetit! Seriously?
We then park (twice) because we move to help two big campervans navigate the smallish car park.
We open the bag and by this time DH is desperate ready to enjoy MY tea.
There's no milk. I exit the car, walk through the car park, through the drive through between two customers in cars and say politely you forgot my milk.
Really? She says. (Always polite but customer NEVER right in France).
I show her ticket detailing milk, no charge.
She says oh, did you not have milk?
I nod.
She says that's because we don't have any! Sorry!
I walked back to the car park with the happy news. I often drink my tea black. DH not so much. Surprisingly he drank half of the tea before me. I put it down to Vaccine Stress and we ended up in fits of laughter.
Looking forward to when LIFE gets back to normal - pencilled in for end June here.
Have the best Monday and keep hunting for those Flamingoes, folks.
??☕️?
Good morning Mick and all from a bright northwest Lancashire coast.
Fab day trip yesterday, I so much enjoyed getting away, nice as many things are around here. Pity we had rain, but the Lakes often deliver that, so no surprises.
I was amused on the way home by the Irish driver’s accent, (Not racist, my granny was Irish) which made us think he had sworn at us:-
“So we will stop at Charnock Richard for a comfort break, but if you can’t hold on, SH*TE!” Of course, he meant shout?
Sadly, I have badly twisted my knee pulling down a full bag of shopping from the overhead rack and can’t put my weight on it. I’ve put a support on it but am due another day trip the day after tomorrow so hope it calms down.
This darling cat just does not like Felix at the mo and it’s not the cheapest. Such divas they can be.
Enjoy your cycling Mick, not on the tv, that’s dangerous and thoughts to anyone with troubles.
Good morning from S Lanarkshire, grey but still as opposed to the wind we had yesterday.
My second Monday doing after school childminding, the highlight of my week! Last week when DGS casually climbed on to my knee after so long apart was a very special moment.
I have just this moment received a text from DD2 telling me she’s working at the moment but will call later and in the meantime to ‘keep 22nd till 27th of June free!
I’m going on holiday people! Oh no, what if she just wants me to watch the dog?!
Off to skip through the day and wishing everyone some joy??
I like Stroud*B9*. You could visit the wildfowl at Slimbridge. A visit to Stinchecombe Hill will give you a view for miles on a nice day.
Nannagarra exactly! DIL did say she thought her parents might opt for a slot in the evening. Think I’d be the same. I just hope the weather isn’t too bad and they don’t get soaked whilst out and about. Saying that they are in the Lakes …….
Good morning everyone. Dull but dry in the Scottish Borders. I have made soup (helped by dog) ,showered etc. Now settled on sofa with Start the week . Heating off but suspect I will switch on later. Doing my exercises and will do them another three times during the day. Will clean bathroom later. Have been enjoying Motherland on BBCi-player. Also really enjoyed Any Questions live from Coventry cathedral on Friday. Thinking of those whose day ahead is not easy.
Good morning everyone from a bright Northampton, but clouds are bubbling up. Heavy showers forecast again this afternoon.
Sainsbury's delivery this morning; don't normally have one on a Monday, but was desperate for frozen peas, and of course that's the one thing they
don't have - I forgot to tick the box that says send an alternative size pack/brand etc. Never mind, I texted DS, and he will oblige.
More reading/ knitting on the cards, but must get a few jobs done first; hoovering, washing up, etc.
Hope all have a good day.
Good morning from Shropshire.
Thank you for all your kind thoughts and wishes over the last couple of weeks.DD much better than she was so hopefully able to manage and we will be back to our normal routine but on standby if needed.
We have tentatively arranged a few things over the next couple of weeks but will have a few #lazygran days first?
Mary, I am sorry you are feeling unwell and hope a restful day helps.I read yesterday’s thread last night. What a wonderfully kind daughter you have.x
Cherry, sorry you had a bad night.Like Mary, I hope you have a restful day today and feel better soon.x
Thinking of Grandmajet and Auntieflo ?
Sounds like you have had a lovely visit with family Ashcombe.Wishing you a safe journey home tomorrow?
Have a good day all??
Good morning GraMingos from the Sefton coast where it is calm and the sun is trying to make an appearance.
Today I have shopping and general pootling on the agenda.
It’s lovely to read of so many having coffees, lunches and breaks. Gosh, Grandmadinosaur, how can a whole party only have 15 minutes in a shower? Altogether now, one, two, three?
Hopefully grandmajet is on the mend and Cherry has a better day.
Keep those beady eyes open for ??? everyone.
Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s lovely and sunny. That said, we have no plans. I shall make us the bacon & egg on toast that we didn’t have time for on Saturday morning and then just enjoy the day as it unfolds. A walk most probably later.
Ooh - all you GraMingoes out and about! Life as we remember it is slowly returning. There’s even talk of Spain going on the green list in a few weeks. Yay! Seems we will be able to get off to Malaga soon after all. Are you excited Pantglas and mancgirl? I am.
?☀️✈️
Enjoy your day everyone - stay cautious but not anxious. Thinking of grandmajet. x
Good morning all from Glasgow.
Not feeling great today, so I shall just send hugs to all who need them, especially, Cherry, Susan, Grandmajet, Auntieflo and anyone one else feeling low today. ?
Gelisjams, I have so many happy memories of holidays in Scarborough, when our children were young!
Enjoy your day, whatever your plans.
Good Morning it’s a sunny one here in East Yorkshire. I had a lazy day yesterday and feel so much better today. I have laundry to catch up on, Birthday cards to buy, presents to wrap and calls to catch up with Dad and a friend.
b9exchange talking of having to plan meals etc due to COVID restrictions my Ds and family are away in a yurt with DILs family. They have to book a slot to use the shower facilities and they only get a 15 minute slot per party. That
should be fun! Rather them than me. I’m sure DGS will think of it as an adventure as little ones do.
Wishing everyone a good day today.
Good morning Mick and all from a damp, high cloud, S Hants, boy did it rain yesterday evening, more hefty showers due today. Yesterday I came third in our local’s Super6 league (football predictor), I won £70, a fun couple of hours. Today the garden man is due to plant up the back garden, but the rain may delay it. Feels like a BH today as Mr J has a day off, he’s off later in the week too, so we’ve booked a lunch out. Hoping your day improves grandmatilly and Cherry, thinking of *grandmajet and Susan.
Enjoy your pyjama day, trips out and meet ups all, a peek of ? or a stray ?, maybe a ?for muse.
Good Morning everyone, the sun is out , but it’s definitely chilly
Baubles I am trying a new crochet pattern with the aid of utube and keep having to pause while I catch up , a sunburst square sounds a great idea
Good morning from West York's looks like it could be a mixed day weather side hope it holds off this morning I am meeting friend for a walk oh will be meeting is friend at same time .Hope all feeling poorly improve over day.Happy hols to those going away .Take care all.
Enjoy your break B9exchange, we will be north of you in Tewkesbury, not too far for me to sit in the car.
Good morning from a damp S Welsh coast, dry at the moment though. Yesterday's party for our little one was a success despite the rain, saved by two large awnings! A surprise visit by two Frozen characters/actors Elsa and Anna had the birthday girl and her friends spellbound all afternoon apparently. Glad all went well for them.
I'm sorry you feel washed out Cherry I hope you have a better day today.
Best wishes to all with medical appointments and worries.
Best wishes to * Auntieflo*.
We are going away today for a short two night break, booked in the spur of the moment, oo er, feeling nervous and excited at the same time.
Have a pleasant day everyone and stay cautious.
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire where it isn’t raining just at the moment but it probably isn’t far away.
Sorry to hear that Cherry, I hope today is better. Also thinking of Grandmajet this morning.
Yesterday turned out to be quite productive what with laundry, ironing, bed changing, cooking, and crochet. I’m fairly new to crochet and over the last couple of weeks I’ve made a stack of solid granny squares in single colours. I was looking online to see what I could do with them and came across tote bags but I decided it would be rather dull without some kind of pattern so when I came across the sunburst granny square I reckoned that a few of them would break it up nicely. My mistake was trying to follow the instructions on my iPad with the sound off whilst watching Francesco da Mosto’s programme about the history Venice which is one of my favourite cities. Suffice to say the square wasn’t quite square. #concentrateononethin
A wander down to the post office today along with some light housework is all that’s on the agenda chez baubles.
Hope today is a peaceful one for everyone.
Good morning Mick and everyone from a sunny Black country. Busy on here this morning will sit with a cuppa later and read through. Bill's to pay today and some ironing fillet steak for DH dinner salmon for myself.
Enjoy your Monday all and take care.
Good morning.
Back from holiday and feeling refreshed. All that is needed now is proper sunshine.
Have a nice day to start the week
