Born in Weymouth, Dorset (Mums home town) and lived there till the age of 2. Moved to Preston, Lancashire (Dad’s home town) till the age of 9. Moved back to Weymouth cos Mum wasn’t happy and lived there till the age of 22 when my husband’s work meant we moved to Oxfordshire. Stayed there till we both retired when we moved back to Weymouth 3 years ago. We think we’re very lucky to live here again, it’s like being on permanent holiday now we can do what we like when we like. Only drawback is being so far from children and grandchildren who are in Oxfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
MelanieGreen, you may have read my comment, I don't know.
We are in Weymouth, left our home towns ( In Hamphire and the Midlands ) to train in Weymouth as teachers in the 1970s.
Got jobs in Cornwall
but moved back to Weymouth 9 years later with 3 little girls as we were too cut off from their grandparents .
We have been here 33 years now.
We certainly would never move back to Hampshire or the Midlands, Cornwall would very much tempt us though.
Three, nearly four of our granchildren are in Chickerell and Rodden, so really close and the other two + foster children are in Somerset, so less than an hour.
Our daughters, obviously, did not want to become teachers and also did not want to move too far away because they had been brought up themselves so far away from their grandparents.
