I was reading on Facebook that approximately 70% of people live within 30 miles of where they were born when they become adults. I am not sure about this. I worked out that I live approximately 10,525 miles away. I don’t know that many here who stayed near their original hometowns.
What about you ?

I’m around 60 miles from mine, but I arrived here by a very circuitous route!

I'm still where I was born. Same city, different area. All my family stayed here too. I don't know many who have moved away.

Apparently 1,090.7 km (about 678 miles)

Why?

Boringly, only about 250 miles.

I'd have fancied a bit of globetrotting when I was younger, but DP wasn't interested..

Place of Birth 700 miles (another country).

theworriedwell Mon 24-May-21 10:47:51

200 miles.

About 120 miles from where I was born, but I left there when just a baby. I now live about 12 miles from where I grew up till I left home. In the mean time I have lived in various places, but now I feel as though I have come home again.

Savvy Mon 24-May-21 10:52:38

At the moment about 220miles.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 24-May-21 10:54:06

I now live about 25 miles away from where I was born. I have also lived 6,000 miles away and 300 miles away.

About half a mile from the hospital where I was born and a stone’s throw from the house I lived in until I was two years old.

kittylester Mon 24-May-21 10:55:59

24 miles but with stops in North Wales, Coventry, Shropshire and Melbourne along the way.

Baggs Mon 24-May-21 11:00:35

About 250 miles now. The closest I've lived, since I left home to go to uni, to where I was born is about 40 miles, and that was for less than a year.

Witzend Mon 24-May-21 11:02:58

Only maybe 20 miles, but in between have lived both hundreds and thousands of miles from there.

At least 13 moves, assuming I’ve remembered them all.

Granny23 Mon 24-May-21 11:03:27

Never more than 3 miles away. Both DDs moved to (Glasgow, Newcastle, London) for Uni and work but came back to live locally when pregnant. I count myself lucky to have my entire family, including my sister and nephew and a few 'friends since childhood' within hiking or 10 minutes by car, distance.

I love to travel and spend time elsewhere, but this area will always be Home.

Aldom Mon 24-May-21 11:07:06

150 miles, but in the past 360 and a different country.

Redhead56 Mon 24-May-21 11:13:02

I was born inner city moved to outskirts 7. 8 miles away so I am probably the least adventurous.

150 miles, born in Northampton moved to East Sussex coast on graduating. Had to put distance between myself and my toxic mother. Best thing I ever did, the coast around here is fabulous, we are within 10 mins drive of Forest and country park, Beachey Head is 15 mins away. Nice walks locally along the sea front. We often visit the New Forest & dream of moving there, but we have done so much work on this house & I would miss the sea & this is area is lovely, if not very friendly!!
