Good Morning Everyone,
Its looking grey at the moment but its dry this morning in Brackley.
Today , rest day as to cycling , watching yesterdays shortened stage in the Dolomites due to heavy rain , somewhat changed the amount of live broadcasting as they rely on an aircraft plus helicopter to beam signals , as it was very low cloud made impossible to see whole race .
Anyway, my usual trip to Bicester this morning for an hour to break things up , also with some bus routes not running there regular timetables gives limitations as to time .
Take care,
Mick

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is a little grey.
Did you get to see Bernel’s excellent skills at the end of the stage though Mick he is amazing! DH subscribers to GCN plus do he doesn’t miss much in the world of cycling but I think the weather is just so bad over there it was very much cut short.
Today I am working all day and then I will rest this evening in readiness for my stay with DD as I am sure she has a list of jobs for me that DH is unwilling to do!! She does like to move stuff about a lot ?
I picked up a new dinner service last night just for daily use, I got it on Facebook Marketplace for just £15 I was so pleased with myself?
Have the best day possible folks.❤️

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. A lovely sunny morning with a lot of blue sky.

I’ve got some sheets in the washing machine already and will go swimming later. Then it will be just getting things done indoors ready for outdoor work.

My brother came by last night and he always gives me something to laugh about.

Take care all and hope your day is the best it can be ?

Ashcombe Tue 25-May-21 06:25:02

Good morning, all, from soggy Crewe! Pleased it's sunny in some places.

I hope the rain clears for my 230 mile journey back to Torquay! No plans to leave too early; I’ll wait for the M6/M5 interchange to be less busy - is it ever?!

Have a good day! ?

Good morning from a sunny E Kent - long may it last... yesterday, those few minutes were all we got!
Got on really well with my quilt. I am assembling it and hiding the seams with hand sewn strips of contrasting fabric.
It was nice to see my young friend again. We went to the local hotel for coffee, all large armchairs and genteel decor.
Tai Chi today. I’m leading as our normal leader is having terrible trouble with sciatica, poor thing.
Gardener is coming to trim the (horrible) box thingies by the fro gate, and cut off bits of shrub that I can’t do with secateurs, o make and aesthetic shape.
DD has invited us for the second weekend of half term. The trains are in an awful mess, where we would normally have changed mains stations in London, we now have to change about three times. We have plenty of time, but I get anxious about stairs and escalators with luggage and people rushing and pushing and getting exasperated with ancient country cousins.
Hope today is a god ‘in. May pain, sorrow, anxiety, and just plain cheesed-off-ness be banished and a flamboyance of flamingos ? replace them! ???☀️?

Ashcombe Tue 25-May-21 06:48:22

Just a thought, grandMattie: it could be worth your while to ask for assistance at the stations where you have to change trains, which would relieve you of the worry of stairs, etc.

Morning Mick and all

Looking dry outside, will keep fingers crossed it stays that way as we have The Imp and plan to go to the Farm Shop, hopefully the cows will be in the pasture next door to it and he loves to watch them.

Spaghetti Bolognaise for dinner tonight.

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️?

Good morning all from a blue skied, sunny S Hants, may get a shower later. I joined a book club a couple of weeks ago and was expecting a zoom meeting to discuss the book ‘at the end of the month’. Email last night, it’s this Thursday! So that’s me occupied for the next two days, like exam prep.
Gardener might come today to site and dig in the plants, yesterday was a wash out.
Have a good day all.

grandMattie Tue 25-May-21 07:09:20

Thanks, Ash. I’m not disabled, just old, slow and fumbly. Having tripped on stairs at Paddington station some years back, thankfully with no more than hurt pride, because DH was rushing me, I’ve become rather cautious.
I try to use the lifts wherever possible, but still feel anxious. Just a worrying sort of person... ?

ginny Tue 25-May-21 07:22:09

Good morning. It’s not looking very bright outside here in N. Bucks.
Didn’t get to the nursery to buy plants yesterday so maybe that’s a job for this afternoon.
DD3 is coming this morning with little Charlie.
Had a call yesterday from friends that we haven’t been able to see for about 3 years and arranged a visit for next month. Will look forward to that.
Hope you all find a ?today.

Nannytopsy Tue 25-May-21 07:27:14

Just lost my message ?.
Good morning Mick and all his followers. Glad the cycling is keeping you entertained.
It’s raining in Suffolk - no surprise there! We are hoping for drier weather in Norfolk for the next couple of days but the forecast isn’t great. Birdwatching in the rain isn’t that much fun! Still, it will be great to have someone else do the cooking and I won’t be able to see the weeds in our front garden!
I hope the day is kind to everyone. Any news from Grandmajet yet?

mancgirl Tue 25-May-21 07:28:17

Good morning from a miserable Manchester. Looks like autumn outside. Got back from Scotland yesterday afternoon just in time to join ds2 for birthday drinks. Lovely to see gs's 2 and 3 who insisted I go back to their house to play. Can't resist an invitation like thatsmile Supermarket shop this morning, we are down to 2 broken biscuits and a dead mouse!grin. Lots of laundry to do but not a drying day. Hope you're feeling better today Marydoll Have the best day you can. Hugs for those with cares and worries and flowers for those not feeling too well.

Good morning from the Black country looks like we are about to have some rain again ☹. Hairdressers later then a meal booked for this evening.
Ashcombe have a safe trip home.

Grandmabatty Tue 25-May-21 07:35:07

Good morning all. Grey skies in Polmont. My usual babysitting Tuesday. Fish man visit then the park. Yesterday we played indoors in the afternoon as it was so wet and miserable. Plus the boy wonder had decided to sit down in a large puddle in the morning and didn't have his rain suit on so that meant a complete change of clothing. Anyway we might make it into the garden in the afternoon if it's at all dry. Have a good day all.

Grandmadinosaur Tue 25-May-21 07:35:56

Good Morning everyone. A damp dull day here in East Yorkshire.
I managed to catch up with my jobs yesterday including finding some lost items of clothing I’d bought for Dgs last summer and mislaid! Hope they still fit?
I had a catch up with my dad which for the first time since losing Mum concerned me. Sounds like the loneliness is starting to hit him. He has many interests. I’m not sure if it’s down to the weather as he said with it being so miserable he just wants to sit on the sofa. I can relate to that myself though but as I’m a distance from him I think we all need to get together as a family and come to some arrangement to perk him up.
No plans as such today apart from going to the post office and maybe a little wander somewhere.
Have a good day everyone and a safe journey home Ashcombe

brook2704 Tue 25-May-21 07:44:52

Good morning everyone from Inverness where I really don’t want to mention the wet weather we’re still having ... surely someone will turn the big tap off soon!
No plans for today yet, I might take my umbrella and go out for a walk somewhere, not the woods at the back of the house as it's really muddy there but maybe down to the beach for a change. DH is home now from his trip away, he had a lovely time but his wallet is a lot lighter after numerous meals out! It doesn’t matter though as it’s nice to treat everyone from time to time
Have a safe journey home Ash and hope the roads aren’t too busy.
It’s lovely of your DD to invite you to stay GM try not too worry too much about the train journey and if you can leave lots of time between connections so you’re not rushing.
Hope your Dad begins to feel better soon grandmadinosaur and finds something that interests him
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Gingster Tue 25-May-21 07:51:45

Good morning all. The weather is so ‘all over the place’ don’t know what to wear, when to go out, washing in or out, dog walk ? It’s all a bit of a lottery! Sun one minute and downpours the next. ?☔️?.

Had a great Chiming session yesterday. Such a laugh and cake and tea to finish. A lovely group of pals! ???.

Today Dh and I are going to our old neighbours/friends to have a dog walk in the woods and then coffee and a sandwich in her very large garden. She has done a lot of work in it and spent an arm and a leg on plants, shrubs and a very attractive , young , new Italian gardener. ?‍??‍?. We’re looking forward to seeing it.

DH saw the diabetes nurse yesterday and the blood test showed his sugar levels aren’t too high, so hopefully with sensible diet and excercise he should be ok. It’s his weak legs that worry me more ??.

Wishing you all a good day.
Ash have a safe journey home.?
Nannytopsy enjoy Norfolk.Springwatch is there this year. I loved it when it was at Minsmere, just up the coast from us.

Take care ???

harrigran Tue 25-May-21 07:53:43

Good morning from a bright and sunny NE.
I got all my jobs done and the washing finished by lunchtime so I was able to sit down and have coffee with DD and SIL.
Sainsbury's delivery this morning and that is all for today.
Enjoy your freedom.

NanKate Tue 25-May-21 07:54:39

Morning Mick and All.

Cloud with a bit of sun in South Bucks today.

Safely home after a short very soggy break. Whatever the weather it was good to go out for shopping, coffee, light lunches/dinners. Everywhere was Covid conscious and we had to use our NHS Covid App in most places. My hands were constantly wet with sanitiser, but I’m not complaining. I really do feel we are at the start of being released from this nightmare. We are on ‘parole’.

Washing and shopping on the agenda today.

Grannyme6 Tue 25-May-21 07:55:08

Good morning all, from a regular GM reader and occasional poster. Feeling rather flat after a lovely long weekend with DD, SiL and DGD staying. The weather was dire but we braved the elements in short bursts. Spent yesterday gently ‘tidying’ away the stair gates/toys, etc and doing the laundry and managed to plant up geraniums in pots when the sun finally shone late afternoon. Must make a plan for today and get going. Have a good day all.

Grandmajean Tue 25-May-21 07:57:58

Good morning. Wet and miserable here in Cheshire. Grandson's 9th birthday today. He got a brand new bike - video sent to show me. How lovely to be that age !

Gagagran Tue 25-May-21 08:02:44

Morning all from a sunny 9.5c south coast. Think we might have a nicer day in store after all the heavy rain showers and strong breezes of recent days.

Our lovely window cleaner came yesterday, dodged the showers and cleaned all the soffits etc. including the garage door (of the detritus left by the builders). It all looks sparkling and smart now and I am happy with it.

Had a surprise visit from Mary Poppins in the afternoon. Well, her umbrella was in our back garden when I spotted it from the kitchen window, but there was no sign of her. The umbrella was erect and just as if she had flown in and then disappeared. I almost expected to see her sitting on the garden seat!
DH went next door to see if she might be there and it turned out that our neighbour had put the brolly down on their garden seat whilst she carried shopping indoors and forgotten about it. A gust of wind must have lifted over the 6 foot fence. (But I still think Mary P had something to do with it grin! )

Hope the day is a good one for us all. sunshine

cornergran Tue 25-May-21 08:02:49

Morning Mick, morning All. Blue sky over our corner of Somerset good to see after yesterday’s unremitting grey.

Washing machine havoc yesterday evening, stopped mid cycle then turned itself on for a few seconds before dying again. Took an hour to extract the laundry, no idea if it’s clean or not. Mr C hauled the machine out so we could try a different socket, bit of a relief it wasn’t the wiring, definitely the machine. First job to arrange a repair, there’s a warranty. Wonder how long we’ll need to wait. Once that’s sorted off on a plant hunt to fill two very large garden tubs, returning an item to M&S and a lunch out. Other than the lack of laundry a good day ahead.

Take care everyone. Hope Tuesday is kind to us all.

Susan56 Tue 25-May-21 08:03:03

Good morning from Staffordshire.

Not sure what we will do today as it’s cold and raining.DGS likes to be outside so hopefully we will get some sunshine later.

Gingster, good news that your DH’s diabetes can be managed by diet and exercise.

Safe journey Ashcombe.Hope the roads aren’t too busy.

Thinking of Cherry,Mary,Auntieflo, grandmajet and all with illness and worries?

Have a good day all??
