I found the key that soop left.
I must complain that getting down to retrieve keys then getting up again is very tricky! Please leave them in a more accessible place in future.
Anyway here’s a bottle of Dom Perignon and a large iced bowl of caviar to open the kitchen!
( we’re going posh this time!

Love the photossmile

annodomini Sun 30-May-21 19:52:09

Soop, how lovely to have your son and partner with you - a treat for all of you. And in such amazingly good weather too. Great photos of a happy day.
PS Soop, when you come down off the ceiling and have some time to spare, the French tennis is on ITV4 and you might be able to catch you idol, Rafa!

Hellogirl1 Sun 30-May-21 19:52:57

Lovely photo Soop, definitely one for framing. Is this son Torben`s dad?

NanaandGrampy Sun 30-May-21 20:04:52

Evening all,

Lovely photo Soop , how lovely you could see your son . The weather was perfect for a visit.

All is well here under a Norfolk big blue sky.

The funeral is set for the 17th so we have some breathing space. The big kids have been returned home safe and well. I met my new dentist and have a treatment plan. I’m not looking forward to it but it’s a necessary evil.

All is well with my world ! ?

‘Evening All’.

Gosh I’m bushed! We had a wonderful family day on Lytham beach. No traffic jams either - there OR back. Most unusual. Sandcastles, donkey rides, ball games, fish and chips on the beach sat on a huge tartan picnic rug, then ice creams and water, water! It was hot and sunny. We all caught the sun (I have a wrist watch stripe now!) even though factor 50 sunscreen was applied liberally.

We left before 5pm after li’l miss had a ride in a teacup then a ladybird. Hugs & kisses with the smalls completed our wonderful day. One for the memory box. Their was a lot of happiness and laughter. Himself comes in for the most ribbing - we just can’t resist!

Parked the car and decided we’d not only earned but were very keen to join in the social joy in our favourite bar. Himself enjoyed 2 pints (well deserved, as he’d played a lotto day - I don’t know where he gets his energy from) and I had 2 crisp Hendricks gin and tonics with ice & cucumber that just hit the spot.

Home now, weary in a good way. Showers now to wash off the sunscreen and the sand from between our toes. Hope everyone has a peaceful night ahead. Hi Doodle ?

soop what a good looking son you have. You couldn’t get away with denying his connection with you could you?

Baggs Sun 30-May-21 20:22:23

That sounds like a perfect day, urms ?

Yours too, soop. So glad Matt and his lady could visit.

muse Sun 30-May-21 20:31:47

Oh soop what lovely photos. Love the threesome.

Sun here all day so I got most of the plants in. Trying the halo method with toms this year having lost the last three years to blight.

Couldn't leave the kitchen last night without having a slice of that Banoffee Cheesecake. Yum - thank you Grandmafrench.

All the best with the dentist N&G.

I've had some gorgeous photos of granddaughter's prom night. I'll be seeing her and mum in four weeks. ?

More sun tomorrow for all of us (I hope). It helps keep the spirits up??

brook2704 Sun 30-May-21 20:41:34

Thanks for opening up Galen ?
First time in the brand new kitchen for me, I was so tired yesterday evening after tramping up and down hills all day that I fell asleep early and I’m sorry to say that I missed the opening night party! Hopefully there’s a few dregs of Dom Perignon left and a few crisps on the top shelf - oh and I’ve just spotted a party popper under the edge of the table..
Another beautiful warm day here so we’ve made the most of it and been outside all day. Got home about 5ish, opened the wine, did a bit of gardening and then showered and pjs on .. now to relax
Sounds like you’ve had such a delightful day Urns definitely one to remember!
Those photos soop are lovely, precious family time!

Jaxjacky Sun 30-May-21 21:23:52

Definitely one to remember Urms. We had a brilliant day yesterday, a couple who are very good friends came for a late lunch, I’d made curry. We sat in the garden, conversation just flowed for over four hours, they stayed with us for five days when we lived in France, a good test of how you really get on. DD and GC’s called in to collect 2 hanging baskets I’d ‘created and to give the GC’s half term pocket money. When they all had left we drifted to the local for a couple, the weather makes such a difference, sitting outside in a t shirt at 8, lush.
Today was watering allotment, supposed to be potting on at home but my unopened, large bag of compost was full of ants nests..I’ve hopefully dispersed them now. MrJ is working tomorrow, my legs need epilating before I don shorts and potter in the garden, a quiet day in store, sunscreen on. I have the dentist next Friday N&G two hours in the chair, least said, I wish you well.
Enjoy your evenings all ?

cornergran Sun 30-May-21 23:30:42

What a happy photo soop, I’m sure there will be many more happy moments for you this week.

Your day sounds just right urms. I love a family beach day. We had planned to go for a walk on our beach early tomorrow before it got busy then an invite for a BBQ with our eldest and his offspring arrived. No contest! The beach will still be there later in the week smile.

A mix of enjoyable and frustrating today. We set off for my least favourite city to navigate by car to check out parking in advance of Mr C’s echocardiogram next Sunday. It’s hard to understand why it ever seemed a good idea to build a specialist heart hospital on a steep hill and not make any provision to park a car. Our joy at finding a car park where Mr C wouldn't need climbing boots was short lived, a bright yellow sign told us the access road will be closed next weekend. So climbing boots it will be unless we find a road space. What a kerfuffle.

We relaxed with a walk around the harbour in warm sunshine and were immensely cheered by securing an outside table on the waters edge where we could consume a cuppa and excellent carrot cake.

Dentist for us on Wednesday n&g. As we’re both seeing the dentist and a hygienist we’ll be there for ages and need to sell a kidney or two to pay the bill. Good luck with your appointments, it will be worth it.

After today’s walking, it seems we did 8,400 steps, a lot for me, I should be tired. Mr C is sound asleep. Me? I’m wide awake.

Sleep well everyone, hopefully I’ll join you soon.

Good morning the kitchen!
There’s coffee in the cafetière and croissants warming in the Aga. Love the view from that new window.
We dashed home from our DD’s and got home 20 minutes before guests arrived to stay. They are young friends from my teaching days with their children. BBQ was promptly organised and they are all still asleep.
They are leaving us this morning and going home via the beach.
Lovely photos today and stories of reunions. Long may it last.

kittylester Mon 31-May-21 08:00:48

Lovely photos soop! Looks like a lovely day.

Lots of a activity going on by kitchener. We had a busy day, getting up at the crack of dawn to watch Bertie play football and win Man of the Match. There were two irritations - the flipping wind and our ex sil (Bertie's dad) being there.

I did a fair bit of twiddling around in the garden too.

Yiayia4 Mon 31-May-21 09:55:16

Good morning kitchen friends. soop you look radiant, enjoying every moment of having your son and his lovely partner around.
Yiayia Greek food is yummy, I bet you can make a mean Gyro wrap?
I would love a warm croissant please Nannytopsy and have brought”Berries and Cherries” my fave Jam.
Well done to Bertie kitty ⚽️ ?
A mixed day for you cornergran and the hospital parking sounds a botheration.
We had a lovely day yesterday and an impromptu drink in the village pub garden in the late afternoon sunshine with DD1 and her hubby.
Welcome back home to Mrs BladeAnnie and her hubby. I trust Mr BA carried you over the threshold? You both deserve a very relaxing day to bask in those special memories of the past week.
Wishing you all a relaxing Bank Holiday. ?

Beautiful photos soop you can almost feel the joy emanating from the screen.

So many of us are now meeting up with family and friends.

This is a photo of my GD (on the left in pink) with her cousin at her Princess birthday party, the princesses are Belle (Beauty and the Beast in yellow) and Elsa from Frozen.

Enjoy the sunny BH folks ?‍♀️

GrannyGravy13 Mon 31-May-21 11:23:42

Sorry folks I posted the wrong photo by accident which showed children who were not family members, so I asked GNHQ to delete it ?‍♀️

maddyone Mon 31-May-21 11:33:04

I don’t often pop in but thought I’d congratulate you all on the new kitchen. I’d like a glass of champagne too if there’s any left.
I need the company now as my darling girl and her husband and children have left for New Zealand. I’m feeling a bit sad.

Bellanonna Mon 31-May-21 11:42:43

Oh, maddyone I can only imagine how you must feel. I hope a visit to NZ is planned some time soon.

Nannytopsy Mon 31-May-21 11:59:09

Maddyone ?. I can understand you feeling sad.
Our friends have gone and it’s back to work on the village hall curtains. I must finish them by tonight, ready for fireproofing.
Then I can get back to the garden!
Enjoy the lovely weather everyone ⛱ ☀️

maddyone Mon 31-May-21 12:02:59

Thank you ladies. We’re doing a barbecue for the rest of the family this afternoon so that’ll keep me busy. I do feel very sad. We’ll go out to see them as soon as NZ let tourists in. They’re doctors so were admitted as essential workers.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 31-May-21 12:07:23

maddyone we have family overseas and it does become easier, FaceTime has been our lifeline.

I hope you enjoy your Family BBQ

maddyone Mon 31-May-21 12:10:36

Thank you GrannyGravy. I know lots of Gransnetters have family overseas. It’s been difficult for you all with this awful Covid situation. Now we’re in the family overseas club too. We’ve already done a fair bit of FaceTiming and it does help.

brook2704 Mon 31-May-21 13:56:37

Oh maddyone I feel for you but hopefully it will get easier and you’ll have a lovely visit to look forward to as soon as restrictions allow. In the meantime though keep coming back into the kitchen for company as and when you feel like it
Lovely photo Gg13 my DGD loves Disney Princesses too - what a perfect party for a little girl!
I’m sat in the garden enjoying the beautiful warm sunny weather and listening to the birds singing - bliss
I’ll be having afternoon tea with freshly baked (not by me of course) scones soon if anyone would like to join me ?
Take care everyone and enjoy the beautiful weather!
