I have neglected the ironing and all other household jobs. All day spent doing my best with the latest portrait. I am getting there. I can well understand why Van Gogh cut his ear off.

Hi everyone, not been in much lately finding it hard to settle to things while waiting for news of my brother. He was on a stroke ward, on itu back on a stroke ward. He is sitting out of bed and talking but then sleeps a lot. They haven't got to the bottom of the infection and had to abandon the MRI scan as he got too distressed.

My sister in law confided that he had also shown signs of dementia and wouldn't go to the doctor. He needs a good by his big sister talking to if and when he comes home.

Enjoy Christmas N&G, I suspect you will all need it.

Thank you for leaving the door open soop. As Arnie is true to his word, so am I. I'm back with beetroot and chocolate cake as well. Plus homegrown ?. I blame MrM for the 1/3 missing. He gave the game away with half of it stuck in his beard.

We've had a busy three days as the groundwork men started on Monday. Drainage is on it's way. Excitement builds. Toilets to be connected soon. Luxury. I've lived with no indoor toilet for six years. Sympathy vote please. We now have what looks like being an abyss. How dare you Jax ! No - it's not the outside loo?.

N&G such true words you say. I will almost be repeating what you are doing a week on Saturday. Darling daughter and granddaughter arrive for 7 whole days. She's missed 3 holidays with us. Have a brilliant time.

Today I’ve been to the hairdressers and had a much needed cut and colour, then DH picked me up and we treated ourselves to lunch at one of the local garden centres. Then home to do some work in the garden, me doing weeding and DH moving things around to better places under careful supervision of course ?
It’s been sunny all day but windy so will have to pop out to do the watering a bit later.

Puzzler61 it was a peony in my art tutor's garden. I started the painting there and worked on it at art class today. I have more to do to it before I'll be happy.

Ooops Grandmabatty I forgot to say how lovely your peony painting is, another very talented Kitchener! I love the deep pink colours ?

A day of some confusion! I had to get up in time to be at the dentist's to have my teeth polished by the hygienist at 9am. All too often I am still semi comatose at that hour! Last night I had gone on line and booked a table for lunch today at my favourite Italian restaurant. This morning, they sent me a message to tell me they weren't open. So I had to ring my friend and tell her not to meet me there. We agreed on the Turkish restaurant where we often lunch and luckily they were open and had a table for us. We have missed our weekly lunches throughout this long, distressing time when not only did her husband die (not Covid) but she was then diagnosed with cancer and she is still recovering from her very gruelling chemo treatment. Meanwhile, her hair is re-growing and her prognosis is uncertain, but she still has her sense of humour.
Having had a pleasant lunch, I came home and slept for at least an hour. I am a world-class sleeper!
N&G, I hope the funeral is a time for family reconciliation. One 'difficult' relative can make it hard for everyone else. Anyway, Merry Christmas at midsummer! What a good idea. I may mention it to certain members of my family. Blossoming, all the best for your procedure and a favourable result. Fingers crossed for you.

Oh, kitty, I meant to send you - and your brother - my best wishes. It must be so hard for you to know your sibling is suffering and difficult to diagnose, as it seems. I know from sad experience how difficult a situation it is.
