Do you say this to people you meet in the street who tell you what their baby's name is? Or is it just when you know they won't hear you?

Yes, I wouldn't dream of offending by saying what I really thought to the face of parents or gp.
But I can hold any opinion I like and voice it as I like elsewhere.
I'm sure the RF tune in to GN to view my opinion.?

Lilibet, the Queen’s childhood nickname is pretty and under normal circumstances it would have been a lovely touching tribute to the baby’s great grandmother, but these are not normal circumstances.

Since they left Harry and his wife have behaved appallingly, first with the spiteful Winfrey interview, followed by other unpleasant accusations to the media from a petulant Prince Harry.

Somehow the choice of name seems, well incongruous.

Useful though.

FannyC I will be wearing a pair of my favourite Merrells Kids hydro beach sandals. They’re one of the few things I can walk in! I have them in both purple and navy blue. I have a photo of me wearing them at a niece’s wedding but I can’t find where I saved it so here’s one from an advert.

My nieces assure me I always look like the coolest person in a crowd, I think it’s because my feet are never hurting (and I don’t care what other people think).

you can get cheapo versions like that at shoezone.
obviously not the same build-quality, or wear, but might be useful for a back-up.
if you are a small size, up to 5-6, look in the children's section too; no vat.
don't ask me how i know all this...

Welbeck as my feet are size 3/35 nearly all of my shoes come from the children’s section ? Cheap shoes don’t really work for me, Merrell were recommended by a therapist as they have supportive and flexible soles to combat drop foot. I have never paid full price for a pair, EBay is a good place to look.

‘Archie Harrison’- no royal connection whatsoever, and this was when they were still full blown senior working royals.

‘Lilibet Diana’- well, Diana, no surprise there, but strange how the royal connection has popped up when they have stepped away from all things royal.

Which is why they might just as well called her ‘Lili’ and have done with it.

Think this couple have made their own bed, now sucking up to the Queen to regain favour. Don’t think many of the public care less if the royals name after royalty or not, but using the Queens nickname as a child, and asking her permission, is rather kicking someone when they are down, as a Grandma how could she refuse, if she had, next headline with Winfrey, Queen wouldn’t let us use this name.

It is a pretty name. One of my grandchildren is Lyllie but pronounced lyelee

I think it will be plain and old fashioned traditional. Ethel, Lily, Grace that sort of thing.

I've only just started to read this thread, but I see nanna8 got it right way back at the beginning. I'll join in again when I've read the lot. As you were.

i think the toes and heel were covered in the lidl ones, just; so that would be ok at the palace then ?

Only very close family and friends use ‘Lilibet’ for HM.
Even tabloids don’t use it.
It’s not a name Harry or Meghan would use to her.
It just feels uncomfortable.
Diana was expected and Lili is cute but Lilibet seems a step too far.
What an odd couple H and M are.

I think a lot of people feel the same (I do).... compensating for loss of royal titles maybe?
If they had stayed here in the UK ( happily) I would still think the name of Lilibet strange, but after they have publicly trashed the RF recently it seems more a case of ‘one in the eye’, not to mention getting themselves talked about.

Of course the RF will post that they are happy with the safe of arrival and who wouldn't? Family innit? But this is the 'royal' baby that will probably appear with a foot or hand to supposedly satisfy the curiosity of the (Great) British public.

William and Cathrine are calling the baby Lili.

Good to hear the the baby arrived safely, what better olive branch can there be to the Queen and Prince Charles than a new baby especially with the nice choice of names.
