Hello Everyone ?

Inspired by lemongroves 'Three Favourite Films' thread (at which I failed miserably).

Please name your top three.
I'm going to have to have a good think. I'm only going to include UK ones in mine, but it's up to you of course!

Thank you as ever x

There are so many! Some have stood the test of time, others not so much
'Only when I laugh' was good.
Waiting for God
One foot in the grave
Fawlty towers
Only fools and horses but the early series. It got a bit worthy.
The young ones I found funny in patches
Ab fab
Two doors down which is probably only seen in Scotland.
I loved Are you being served? But when I watched it recently it hadn't aged well. I loathed On the Buses and Alf Garnet and Steptoe and son.
I'm sure I'll think of loads more

I forgot Mum.
Best sit coms are those that occasionally make you cry as well as laugh.

As you've lifted the limit Fanny I'm looking at what others have posted and adding a few more.

Father Ted, how could anyone raised a catholic not love that!
Phoenix Nights
Little Britain they couldn't do it now though!
Mum Can't believe I forgot that one, beautifully played by both Lesley Manville and Peter Mullan as her would be suitor. Funny, subtle, poignant and sometimes painful.
I did find Ali G very funny as well, not sure if his programme could be described as a situation comedy though.

Thanks Kitty I’ll look out for The Cafe which I seem to have missed.

No, Laura, it was set in a cafe in Weston Super mare. Written by Ralf Little and Michelle Terry who were both in it - as was Phoebe Waller Bridge.

The Worst Week of my Life!!

Kate1949 Wed 02-Jun-21 13:24:04

Yes Laura It was very funny. I loved Benson's deadpan face as he surveyed the madness!

LauraNorder Wed 02-Jun-21 13:17:23

Kitty, was The Cafe the one with Brenda Blethyn? If so, yes it was hilarious. She’s an amazing comic actress.

LauraNorder Wed 02-Jun-21 13:15:32

Oh Kate I’d forgotten Soap, it was brilliant, I always remember Jessica advising her sister to ‘assume the missionary position after a certain age so that the wrinkles fall backwards, unless of course the light is off’.

When DH and I go out in similar coloured jeans/top we say to our kids, we’re Harold and Hilda. They don’t have a clue what we’re talking about but we loved Ever Decreasing Circles with Richard Briers. Had it’s sad moments too.
