congratulations to the various members of little mix ladies who all seem to be having babies at the same time. And I know this makes me sound old fashioned but doesnt anyone actually bother getting married before starting a family anymore ?

Kim19 Thu 03-Jun-21 18:17:01

I think freedom of choice in this arena can only be a good thing.

Well good luck to them. I watched the Brit Awards just out of curiosity, to see what is going on in the music industry. It was like a Tramps and Tarts Ball. Definitely an adult programme because there was no music suitable for young teens (10-14).

In answer to your question, people seem to think getting married is a much more serious commitment than having a baby, which as we know isn't the case!

Riverwalk Thu 03-Jun-21 18:52:19

Did you fret when the Prime Minister had a baby outside marriage?

SueDonim Thu 03-Jun-21 19:02:17

Does it matter?

Callistemon Thu 03-Jun-21 19:40:02

Well, that was very well organised!

They'll all be on maternity leave then back to work at the same time!
Well done.

Casdon Thu 03-Jun-21 19:43:19

Only two of them are pregnant aren’t they, not the whole band? They seem nice girls, I’m sure they will be good mothers.

Ellianne Thu 03-Jun-21 20:07:14

I'm out of touch, how many of them are there? I thought it was four?

I think several of the Spice Girls had a baby before they married. It's fairly normal.

Wow!

I feel as though I’ve been transported back to the 1950’s

The 1950s are calling. They want their attitude back.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 03-Jun-21 21:12:29

I am obviously heading for hell and damnation...

Four of our children were at our wedding, our fifth is permanently cross because we didn’t wait until they were born before we married!!!

Mattsmum2 Thu 03-Jun-21 21:19:02

My daughter is pregnant now and wanted to be married before she started a family and she was not too old. However she has had two weddings postponed due to covid and has now booked a wedding for September next year. They wanted to do it the right way around but it’s not turned out that way, I only want them to be happy whatever they choose.

Bibbity Thu 03-Jun-21 21:19:04

They are both very independently wealthy. Why would they want to do something like get married?

Jaxjacky Thu 03-Jun-21 21:47:42

Some do, many don’t ever.

Blossoming Thu 03-Jun-21 22:00:30

Fortunately we no longer live in an age when single parents and their children are ostracised, and I hope we never go back to them.

Sara1954 Thu 03-Jun-21 22:04:39

If I had my time again I don’t think I’d get married, we aren’t religious, and I think we would have committed to each other without a wedding ceremony.

I agree. Having a child together is the ultimate commitment which lasts far longer than a marriage can.

Yet another one Earnshaw ! Do you ever return to any of the threads you start ???

Chewbacca Sat 05-Jun-21 09:24:58

What are the little mix ladies?

Lucca Sat 05-Jun-21 09:26:58

Chewbacca

What are the little mix ladies?

Sweeties like jelly babies, chocolate mice and sugary cola bottles in a bag.

Oh sorry that's pick and mix!

A girl band.

Chewbacca Sat 05-Jun-21 09:33:46

Ah! Thanks Lucca and Ellianne. Never heard of them, but I can't see what the problem is no matter who the lasses are.

FannyCornforth Sat 05-Jun-21 09:35:26

earnshaw you seem to enjoy posting a contentious premise and then step back, and relish the ensuing drama without actually partaking again.
Or possibly you never return to the thread.
You are something of an enigma.
Just a tip. You may find that Gransnet is actually far more fun if you post a few more comments on your own thread from time to time. A bit like how conversations work.
It's nice though that you keep up with current goings on pop culture wise.
I bet that you have a few strong opinions on Little Mix's stage wear!

FannyCornforth Sat 05-Jun-21 09:38:57

Jezy Nelson has recently left the band. (Band! smile)
It's a bit of a death knell for Little Mix - a bit like when Robbie left Take That, or Geri left the Spice Girls.
