Mick is having trouble starting this today so I have offered to get the ball rolling.
Good morning everybody- over to you!

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. More sunshine in South Yorkshire and it’s going to be a hot one. We have to drive over to one of our hospitals this morning to drop in DH’s covid test for an upcoming procedure. Fortunately it’s the nearer of the two, so shouldn’t take long. Then a quiet day in the garden in prospect. We had a walk with DD and GS yesterday with by tea and cake halfway round. We had to promise him cake to get him to come! Teenagers!
Have a happy day, folks.

Good morning all from a sunny northwest Lancashire coast. Quiet day today, will take some sun for the vitamin D, bits and bobs and phone calls.
Great to be back at art group yesterday even with drawing still life, not my favourite. BUT we went for coffee afterwards to a coffee shop in the Edinburgh Wool Shop I didn’t even know existed, nice and quiet. I was a bit overexcited as haven’t been socialising for so long!
A little shopping and bought a white fedora/Panama style sun hat. Came home and realised I already had a similar hat...
Hope you all have a nice weekend and Mick is ok.

Will read more posts later.

Good morning from the M25!
I was up very early to walk the dog before we left. After yesterday’s full on rain it started foggy but cleared to mist and we now have sunshine. My suitcase has been packed and unpacked twice, goodness knows what I will be like when we go away for a week next month. DD is dog sitting and as it is her birthday on Monday she has friends coming for a BBQ, my house is clean and tidy for their visit. They are all friends she has known since school so I know them all well too and happy for them to be there.
DH’s birthday is today, thank you for your good wishes. He was born the day before D Day.
dustyangel you were very local to me. I grew up in Ascot, mum and dad still live in Sunningdale. I lived in Farnborough when my children were little but have been at present home for 30+ years.
I am quite excited to be travelling again albeit just for one night away. We have a NT visit booked in IOW this afternoon.
Wishing all a lovely weekend, I shall be wearing my ?dress tonight

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Grandmabatty Sat 05-Jun-21 08:42:23

Good morning all. Polmont is partially sunny and 10° so goodness knows how it will end up. Thank you for opening up Mawbe and I'm glad it's just techie problems Mick. There are so many lovely photos today. Marydoll I have a deck off my bedroom and I never use it. I feel like I'm on a stage! I'm contemplating having it removed and replaced by a much smaller composite one so I'm interested to hear about your new one.
Today is housework Saturday. Truth be told, it doesn't take long. I'll get the bedding washed and out for a blow, although it looks calm at the moment. I'm making chicken tikka for tea so the chicken will need to marinade in the yoghurt mix all day. I don't expect visitors today so I will potter about happily. Have a good day all.

Alygran Sat 05-Jun-21 08:41:08

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Another sunny day.
I spent yesterday afternoon reading in the garden. I did drive up the dale intending to look round the galleries in Leyburn but got there to discover it was market day. There was nowhere to park so I came home. I’ll try again next week, perhaps it will be quieter.
Some ironing to do this morning, then sorting out goodie bags for a Carers event next week. Then I may retire to the garden with my book.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Good Morning from a beautifully sunny S Welsh coast.
Thank you for opening up Maw, enjoy your snooze.
I'm hoping our family campers will call in on their way home today, have made a cake in case. They sent photos yesterday of a near empty beach, a jellyfish, and a very excited five year old splashing in the water. Lovely normal activities that have been missing for so long it seems.
A great photo of Iris grandMattie.
Not much on the cards today except a walk and giving the pup a bath later.
Hope everyone will have a pleasant day. Sorry your Bodnant visit is off Susan.

Morning Mick and all

Thanks Maw, for opening up!

We went out to dinner last night with some dear friends, we last got together just before the first lockdown, it was lovely to catch up, my voice is husky this morning after so much chatter.

It rained from morning till night yesterday so no watering needed today. Will pop to butchers and that’s my plan for the day!!!

My favourite corner of our garden from Thursday when it was sunny.

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️?

Marydoll Sat 05-Jun-21 08:30:20

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, how long it will last, I don't know! Showers are forecast.

It is lovely to read such positive posts and goings on. Brooke, your walks are not boring, I'm envious of your opportunities to exercise in such beautiful surrounds. Hopefully this time next week, I will be waking up to the beautiful scenery in Pitlochry.
GM, I imagined Iris to be much older, I don't know why!

Baubles, I spotted my Royal Doulton wedding China in a charity shop the other day. There were 52 pieces for £25!. Some were duplicates, but there was a set of coffee cups, which I don't have. Unfortunately, I would never have been able to carry it and I'm supposed to be decluttering! ?

I had to laught, Maw, I misread Mick's post and thought you were off on a trip to Bicester with him! That would make an interesting post tomorrow!!! ?

The new patio doors are in, but not without incident. Well what did expect Chez Marydoll?
It wasn't getting the doors in that was the main problem, it was getting them out, they are larger than normal, ( as the fitter kept reminding me) and had dropped over the years so one was completely stuck. All sorts of whispering and mutterings caused my dicky heart to sink. I told you yesterday I was in catastrophe mode! ?
Unsurprisingly, DH arrived just as the fitters were tidying up. I am totally sure, he was spying from the golf course, waiting for them to leave! ?

Being the hostess, with the mostess, I had made fruit scones to go with a cuppa for the fitters. One asked for butter and jam, had to be strawberry, on his and instant coffee, ( very precise instructions) not that fancy machine stuff! I had to rummage for a jar at the back of the cupboard, DH won't touch instant.
An hour later, he handed me the scones back, untouched. ?. Apparently he has a phobia about dried fruit! After he asked for another coffee, I offered him a snowball, chocolate or plain, (he didn't like coconut), Mars Bar cake( had never heard of it) an Abernethy biscuit, from my emergency hospital, rescue pack, (they were out of date), but he did fancy the raspberry cream cake, I had saved for my own cuppa!!!

The doors are now in, but the blind doesn't fit, so it looks as if this is going to be a very expensive job indeed! ?
Hopefully, our dangerous, spongy decking will be now replaced withing the next few weeks. I am so looking forward to sitting outside again. At the moment the garden is unusable, due to all the decking materials lying about.

I have included a photo of the red lime tree I bought, it was only £15 from Asda. I am sorely tempted by the vines they have in! ?

Wishing you all a pleasant day. Special mention to all who are struggling, its been a difficult week again for you Auntiflo and our * Cherry*. Take care all.

Good morning from S Lanarkshire, looks sunny out.
Nice to see Iris, she’s doing so well, it must be lovely to be spending time with the family grandMattie

Quite cool here yesterday so a coffee with a friend in her garden was cut short and I returned home to water all the new plants that were planted on Thursday.

Then some excitement as the first timber was delivered for my garden room. My brother and I will continue to move planter boxes this afternoon to clear the required area and the work will start on 22nd of this month.

Tomorrow is my youngest GD’s First Communion and I’ll be leaving early to to join the family for the day ?. I won’t have time to post, so I’ll wish everyone a pleasant weekend and continued sunshine now. Enjoy your weekend folks??

Good morning from a glorious Leicestershire.

Lovely picture of Iris, pleased things are going well GrandMattie.
Thank you for opening Maw.

Not sure what to do today so it will be a quiet one after we go for our daily walk. May read my book club book in the garden - ‘Hamnet*.
Looking forward to hearing about the fitting of Mary’s new door!

Hope you all have the best day you can.

Jaxjacky Sat 05-Jun-21 08:22:29

A promising meeting Gagagran, they won’t want a tribunal. What divergent weather on this global thread, heat in Lueneberg and distinctly chilly in S Australia. Good old UK middling.

Elizabeth1 Sat 05-Jun-21 08:21:28

Good morning everyone from another beautiful sunny start to the day on the east coast of Fife.sunshine I was in tip top condition yesterday and made a cottage pie for tonight’s dinner with support from my carer while my DH was away playing golf where he said he performed the best yet. grin We’re off today to the local town where I believe folks will be flying their kites on the beach, should be fun.smile It’s lovely having these gloriously sunny afternoons where I can sit in my conservatory looking out into the garden where the buds are now starting to burst open into beautiful colours.

I’ve a dear friend who has a lovely garden full of different flowers and plants we are both so lucky I could never imagine not having a garden.sad I love my garden small though it might be.
Have a good day you lovely ladies and gents wherever you might be.
be kind to yourselves and others given the chanceflowers

ginny Sat 05-Jun-21 08:19:15

Good morning all.
Not particularly bright in N. Bucks at the moment so hope it will be better later.
Not much planned for today. A quick local food shop and a walk along the river and coffee at the end. Some pootling in the garden and some crochet later on.
Thoughts with all who are struggling in any way and wishing everyone a smilecalong the way.

Good morning from a cloudy East Northants here at DD's. Still in bed waiting for signs of life then I can go and make a cup of tea. Ah, can hear the dogs, so someone is up.

Turned out to be a very grey day yesterday with a shower at lunchtime. DD said that it poured with rain all day here; but luckily it cleared up for her riding lesson. I defrosted my kitchen freezer and had a good sort out. Also swapped my winter/summer wardrobes around. Am in shorts and tee shirts now for the summer.

I think a visit to the garden centre is planned for today, so I may get some summer plants for the pots by my front door. Then I believe we are having a barbecue this evening.

Thanks Maw for opening up. Hope that all have a good day.

Gagagran Sat 05-Jun-21 08:14:43

Morning all from a glorious sunny morning here on the south coast.

We are back from the click and collect at Tesco and have had breakfast. DH is leading a ride of 8 riders from his bike club this morning and will be off by 9AM. I then have my weekly treat of the Saturday paper to enjoy. DS will arrive for a shower and food this afternoon after doing his final recce ride on the South Downs Way before the 24 hour event at the end of the month. The next three weeks is a different training regime I am told. All very scientific! DD is volunteering at the vaccination clinic again this afternoon.

The County Council chaps turned up on time but it was raining hard so I left DH to discuss the matter outside, with them. He said they were receptive and have promised to go away and come up with a conclusion soon. Hopefully that means they will offer some compensation but if not, DH will take the matter to a tribunal, as we are entitled to do. I suspect they will make an offer of some sort to get him off their backs!

Hope the day is a good one for us all. sunshine

baubles Sat 05-Jun-21 08:11:48

Thanks for opening up Maw.

Good morning Mick, hope you get your connection sorted out. Morning all from bright South Lanarkshire.

Lovely to see a photo of Iris, what beautiful hair she has. Glad your visit is going well gM.

Great photo too Jax, we have a DGD with the same lovely name.

A lovely woman bought three full bone china tea sets in the swanky charity shop yesterday, that took some wrapping I can tell you. She sells them on Etsy and as we price them low she can still turn a profit, she even ships to the USA. That left me with several shelves to fill so I had a bit of a mad rush as the shop was busy so we can’t have bare shelves.

No plans today except that I really need thread to finish lining my crochet bag and I cannot get it in my wee town. The lovely wool shop only stocks a few reels of black or white.

I hope everyone has the best possible day. Thinking as ever of our absent friends and those coping with sadness or illness.

Grammaretto Sat 05-Jun-21 08:04:35

Good morning MawB, Mick and all.
Lovely photo of the brave Iris, Mattie
A sunny day here in the Scottish Borders by the looks of it.
I will need to water the leeks and lettuces.
Is that minus 7 degrees C? Nanna8 surely not.
Enjoy your socialising Urmston and everyone who is out and about.
I managed supper in the garden yesterday with a friend. We shared holiday stories. and a bottle of merlot.
I don't think I'll venture far today. Maybe the dump.

Susan56 Sat 05-Jun-21 07:47:51

Good morning from Shropshire where the sun continues to shine?

Thank you for opening up maw and glad you are ok Mick.

DGD and I had a lovely morning in town yesterday. The afternoon was spent in the garden.DD had a lovely relaxing spa day, so relaxing in fact she drove straight home forgetting to come and collect H??DGD had arrived with her little suitcase so she had a sleepover.

Not sure what we will do today. We had planned to go to Bodnant gardens but there is a spike in the numbers of the Indian variant in the Llandudno area so will probably cancel.
We are babysitting tonight so a quiet day in the garden will be nice.

Thinking of all our missing friends, hope to see you back soon and all with illness and worries.

Have a good day all??

nanna8 Sat 05-Jun-21 07:47:33

It's been chilly here today- 7C, not what people think of Australia. We are still in hard lockdown so we just went to the local shops for food, went for a walk and back home doing washing etc. Talked to a couple of friends on the phone, a boring day really.

brook2704 Sat 05-Jun-21 07:33:37

Good morning everyone from Inverness another dry start to the day, a few showers are forecast but still quite warm so I’m happy
Thank you maw for opening up ?
Nothing planned yet today, I’ll probably go on another walk - I know it sounds boring but I do enjoy it!
Lovely photo of Iris GM and pleased your trip is going well
Sounds like a perfect day urms enjoy meeting up with your friends
Hope your Campa gets sorted Gelisa so you can enjoy your travels again soon!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, I hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?

fiorentina51 Sat 05-Jun-21 07:27:13

Good morning from sunny Worcestershire. Today I'm working in the forest with my 14 year old grandson. He's doing his D of E bronze award and has to do 6 months voluntary work and I'm his responsible adult. We are helping out on a smallholding in the woods. He's helped us to plant over 2000 trees this year, learnt the art of dead hedging and discovered muscles he never knew he had. So have I!
It's been lovely spending time with him and rediscovering the nice young man behind the sullen, grumpy exterior.
Have a good day everyone. ?

cornergran Sat 05-Jun-21 07:25:16

Morning All, thanks for opening maw, good to know you’re ok mick.

A bright if chilly start to our corner of Somerset. Hope to stretch our legs on the beach before it gets busy. Saturday can be unpredictable here, a mix of holiday changeovers, day trippers and folk just going about their business. Sometimes busy usually quiet locally until lunch time. With luck one of those days.

This afternoon I really must do some serious tidying, Mr C has promised to install a new phone system for a neighbour. The process was begun yesterday by putting the handsets to charge as per the instructions. I was slightly shocked to hear instructions had been read grin.

Wishing you all the best day possible, hope Saturday is kind to us all.

Gingster Sat 05-Jun-21 07:23:47

Good morning all and it seems we had the worst weather here in the south east. It started to rain here in Suffolk at lunchtime but family in Essex said it had rained all day. We sat in the summerhouse with our neighbour for afternoon tea which ended with a couple of glasses of wine, as the rain lashed down.
Felt sorry for the campers up the road . Sunshine should return today. ?

Urmstongran your meal for tonight sounds just right, and I’m sure your guests won’t think any less of you. ?

Iris looks lovely and she’s progressing well ?

A bit more gardening today, it’s taking shape. My back is still sore and holding me up which is frustrating,

Hoping the sun shines on us all. ?
