Mick is having trouble starting this today so I have offered to get the ball rolling.
Good morning everybody- over to you!
Worried I will miss out on my grandson
Changing from a Manual car to an Automatic after driving manual for around 50 yrs
Mick is having trouble starting this today so I have offered to get the ball rolling.
Good morning everybody- over to you!
Thanks Maw.
Good morning from a sunny but cool Bristol.
Picture of our mascot! She willingly posed, but was puzzled as to why her face wasn’t being shown.
Lovely if absolutely exhausting day shopping with the girls. All fine. Eggshells holding up better than expected...
Going to Farleigh Castle today for a picnic lunch, baking in the afternoon for a cakes sale on Sunday. Iris is raising funds for Riding for the Disabled.
Have the best day today- penultimate of half term
Thank you, MawBe; I was becoming concerned about Mick's absence! He’s so reliable in starting this daily thread to help us connect each morning.
Good morning and another beautiful sunny one in Torbay, as in most places, I think.
I hope all who travel have safe journeys and enjoy their time away, especially Dwmxwg (Happy birthday to your DH) on IoW and grandMattie in Bristol, who will have tales to relate from the shopping expedition, no doubt!
I hope the Council representative agreed with your claim, Gagagran, and that the blinds were fitted successfully, Marydoll, with your tomatoes and peppers surviving their ordeal. Thank you for your encouraging comments, Jaxjacky. Yesterday, I think I was still running on the adrenaline generated from the past few days so felt more alive than for some weeks!
It’s lovely when grandchildren enjoy our company; girlie outings across the generations, Susan56! You should definitely submit the photo of Rosie to Dyson, Mawbe! It’s priceless!
The dreaded Lidl shop beckons so I must start my day, I hope it’s a sunny one, wherever you are, especially Auntieflo Enjoy! ?☀️?
Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It’s a sunny morning.
Thank you for opening up Maw. I was beginning to wonder where Mick was.
I’m off to see BeechNutella today and will take with me the garden kneeler I made for her. We are going out for lunch. The first time I’ve been out to eat since March 2020.
I hope you all have the best day you can and enjoy the sunshine ??
Iris has beautiful hair, grandMattie, bless her heart! ❤️
Good morning Maw (thank you for opening) and everyone on this beautiful Saturday morning. Himself is still snoozing so I had to make my own cuppa just now.
We have friends coming over at 2pm. We plan to sit outside one of the many bars along this road, have a couple of scoops and a catch up then back up here to eat. This domestic goddess has bought steak pie from Sainsbury’s (I will make my own butter mash - I’m not that incompetent) with Sainsbury’s blueberry cheese cake for dessert (I shall wash some strawberries to go with) and cream. This is the way to do it (shouted Punch).
#lazygran
Hope Saturday is good to us all. I will remember to put sunscreen on my forehead today - it’s only just calmed down since Lytham beach last weekend!
Good morning from a bright NE.
Been awake since 5am, reading and waiting for Mick to wake up and start the thread.
Had a productive day yesterday, sorted and packed millions of Lego bricks into boxes for storage. GDs no longer interested.
Sister and BIL are coming this afternoon to plant lavender and geraniums in my patio pots, hopefully it will be warm enough to have a glass of something in the garden.
Enjoy what promises to be a pleasant weekend.
What lovely positive posts to start the day! I know what you mean about “feeling alive” Ashcombe it can seem as if we have been in a 15 month period of suspended animation. And congratulations on navigating the eggshells Grandmattie you sound as if you are having a lovely time - days to treasure!
Looks like a nice day here in N Bucks but having woken at 5.30 and read the paper since then, I have yet to work out a plan for the day. Might have a snooze first though ????
I would Maw! x
Good morning from a grey, dull Essex by the sea. Hopefully it will brighten up later. We had torrential rain all day yesterday, I was looking for an Ark.
DH has decided to spend the day with me rather than disappear to his boat. Shoe shopping this morning and we are going out to dinner this evening, the first time since last year.
I hope Mick is ok and thanks to Maw for opening up this morning. Lovely picture of Iris GM.
Have the best Saturday and find a ? xx
Good morning all, thank you Maw, hope Mick is alright.
Brilliant sunshine here in S Hants, which is why I’m up so early, blackout blinds are in order. I popped out yesterday to buy a couple of tomato plants for a hanging basket, there was a sale, melon for the greenhouse, striped courgette and a couple of other plants just fell into my car! DD and the GC’s thoroughly enjoyed the motor museum yesterday, photo is Imogen under the wisteria arch.
Allotment today and I’m making moussaka for dinner, enjoy your day everyone.
Good morning from Morecambe Bay where we have a clear blue sky. No doubt it will get hot again later. What gorgeous hair Iris has!
We are off to Wigan again for more work on the campa. He needs to do an adjustment which needs the ramp. It couldn’t be done yesterday as we had only booked for a look at the cracked tyres.
I will call at my favourite garden centre and get some plants for my pots. I wasn’t going to bother as there is no one to water them while we are are away but I have decided I’ll keep the pots in trays to hold water and hope they are ok!
Take care and stay safe everyone ???

Good Morning Everyone,
Its a nice sunny start here in Brackley this morning, usual trip out to Bicester and Buckingham today ,and have a lunch in Buckingham plus browse flea market .
Had successful blood test yesterday .
take care,
Mick
Good morning Mick and all from rather hot Lueneburg (hot for northeners). I love it but some of my friends are faltering. I shall go shopping now for strawberries, cream, cake and ice cream. I am having three friends round tomorrow afternoon. Yesterday I worked in the garden for several hours. I think, I could do with living in a flat now. I am really a very lazy person. The house in Britain has a small garden. Here I have too much garden. It`s too hot for my dachsi (she is 14 now). Brave girl Iris. I love all your talk about charity shops. Every time I was in Britain I went looking for bargains. Anyway, have a pleasant day all and may your troubles be small ones. I know, that sometimes life can not be so easy and things can get too much. So, hope that some flamingos cross our ways.
Good morning all and it seems we had the worst weather here in the south east. It started to rain here in Suffolk at lunchtime but family in Essex said it had rained all day. We sat in the summerhouse with our neighbour for afternoon tea which ended with a couple of glasses of wine, as the rain lashed down.
Felt sorry for the campers up the road . Sunshine should return today. ?
Urmstongran your meal for tonight sounds just right, and I’m sure your guests won’t think any less of you. ?
Iris looks lovely and she’s progressing well ?
A bit more gardening today, it’s taking shape. My back is still sore and holding me up which is frustrating,
Hoping the sun shines on us all. ?
Morning All, thanks for opening maw, good to know you’re ok mick.
A bright if chilly start to our corner of Somerset. Hope to stretch our legs on the beach before it gets busy. Saturday can be unpredictable here, a mix of holiday changeovers, day trippers and folk just going about their business. Sometimes busy usually quiet locally until lunch time. With luck one of those days.
This afternoon I really must do some serious tidying, Mr C has promised to install a new phone system for a neighbour. The process was begun yesterday by putting the handsets to charge as per the instructions. I was slightly shocked to hear instructions had been read
.
Wishing you all the best day possible, hope Saturday is kind to us all.
Good morning from sunny Worcestershire. Today I'm working in the forest with my 14 year old grandson. He's doing his D of E bronze award and has to do 6 months voluntary work and I'm his responsible adult. We are helping out on a smallholding in the woods. He's helped us to plant over 2000 trees this year, learnt the art of dead hedging and discovered muscles he never knew he had. So have I!
It's been lovely spending time with him and rediscovering the nice young man behind the sullen, grumpy exterior.
Have a good day everyone. ?
Good morning everyone from Inverness another dry start to the day, a few showers are forecast but still quite warm so I’m happy
Thank you maw for opening up ?
Nothing planned yet today, I’ll probably go on another walk - I know it sounds boring but I do enjoy it!
Lovely photo of Iris GM and pleased your trip is going well
Sounds like a perfect day urms enjoy meeting up with your friends
Hope your Campa gets sorted Gelisa so you can enjoy your travels again soon!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, I hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?
It's been chilly here today- 7C, not what people think of Australia. We are still in hard lockdown so we just went to the local shops for food, went for a walk and back home doing washing etc. Talked to a couple of friends on the phone, a boring day really.
Good morning from Shropshire where the sun continues to shine?
Thank you for opening up maw and glad you are ok Mick.
DGD and I had a lovely morning in town yesterday. The afternoon was spent in the garden.DD had a lovely relaxing spa day, so relaxing in fact she drove straight home forgetting to come and collect H??DGD had arrived with her little suitcase so she had a sleepover.
Not sure what we will do today. We had planned to go to Bodnant gardens but there is a spike in the numbers of the Indian variant in the Llandudno area so will probably cancel.
We are babysitting tonight so a quiet day in the garden will be nice.
Thinking of all our missing friends, hope to see you back soon and all with illness and worries.
Have a good day all??
Good morning MawB, Mick and all.
Lovely photo of the brave Iris, Mattie
A sunny day here in the Scottish Borders by the looks of it.
I will need to water the leeks and lettuces.
Is that minus 7 degrees C? Nanna8 surely not.
Enjoy your socialising Urmston and everyone who is out and about.
I managed supper in the garden yesterday with a friend. We shared holiday stories. and a bottle of merlot.
I don't think I'll venture far today. Maybe the dump.
Thanks for opening up Maw.
Good morning Mick, hope you get your connection sorted out. Morning all from bright South Lanarkshire.
Lovely to see a photo of Iris, what beautiful hair she has. Glad your visit is going well gM.
Great photo too Jax, we have a DGD with the same lovely name.
A lovely woman bought three full bone china tea sets in the swanky charity shop yesterday, that took some wrapping I can tell you. She sells them on Etsy and as we price them low she can still turn a profit, she even ships to the USA. That left me with several shelves to fill so I had a bit of a mad rush as the shop was busy so we can’t have bare shelves.
No plans today except that I really need thread to finish lining my crochet bag and I cannot get it in my wee town. The lovely wool shop only stocks a few reels of black or white.
I hope everyone has the best possible day. Thinking as ever of our absent friends and those coping with sadness or illness.
Morning all from a glorious sunny morning here on the south coast.
We are back from the click and collect at Tesco and have had breakfast. DH is leading a ride of 8 riders from his bike club this morning and will be off by 9AM. I then have my weekly treat of the Saturday paper to enjoy. DS will arrive for a shower and food this afternoon after doing his final recce ride on the South Downs Way before the 24 hour event at the end of the month. The next three weeks is a different training regime I am told. All very scientific! DD is volunteering at the vaccination clinic again this afternoon.
The County Council chaps turned up on time but it was raining hard so I left DH to discuss the matter outside, with them. He said they were receptive and have promised to go away and come up with a conclusion soon. Hopefully that means they will offer some compensation but if not, DH will take the matter to a tribunal, as we are entitled to do. I suspect they will make an offer of some sort to get him off their backs!
Hope the day is a good one for us all.
Good morning from a cloudy East Northants here at DD's. Still in bed waiting for signs of life then I can go and make a cup of tea. Ah, can hear the dogs, so someone is up.
Turned out to be a very grey day yesterday with a shower at lunchtime. DD said that it poured with rain all day here; but luckily it cleared up for her riding lesson. I defrosted my kitchen freezer and had a good sort out. Also swapped my winter/summer wardrobes around. Am in shorts and tee shirts now for the summer.
I think a visit to the garden centre is planned for today, so I may get some summer plants for the pots by my front door. Then I believe we are having a barbecue this evening.
Thanks Maw for opening up. Hope that all have a good day.
Good morning all.
Not particularly bright in N. Bucks at the moment so hope it will be better later.
Not much planned for today. A quick local food shop and a walk along the river and coffee at the end. Some pootling in the garden and some crochet later on.
Thoughts with all who are struggling in any way and wishing everyone a smilecalong the way.
