Greenock.
I’m asking because I keep seeing a TV ad for a cruise operator, where I can’t help feeling that they’re mispronouncing it. I dare say I could well be wrong, but I thought it was more or less ‘Grennock’ (short e) whereas they’re pronouncing the first syllable ‘green’, as in the colour.

Its from the Gaelic Grianaig meaning "at the sunny knoll". That would be pronounced Gree-an-aik so I'm sticking with Green like the colour.
