Evening Rufus yes Sydney does seem to be having problems.
Ernie has funny memories for me. I had a neibour called Ernie, my daughter then aged 20 came home rather the worst for wear after copious amounts of alcohol, she woke her younger brother up, and then decided it might be funny running round my front room with her younger brother pretending to drive a milk float and at the top of their voices singing Ernieee. I avoided that neibour for weeks. Funny how that stirred d a memory. She is embarrased about it now.
Anyway thanks for the memory.

Me again *AvelineI I know what you mean, but they are more than "Just a pet" It's over 5 years since our last dog Jessie died, but I still "see" her lying in her favourite spots.
Even certain noises can make me imagine it's Vera or Jessie on the move until I realise it's the wind!
I'd better rephrase that! "the wind blowing outside!" hmm
Always reminds me of Benny Hill's "Ernie, the fastest milkman in the West and his gold-tops a'rattling in their crate!
What do they say about keeping your enemies inside the tent! grin
A hip job as day surgery!? No way! I'd fight to stay in for at least a week! hmm
Cheers

Hi Rufus2. Sydney sounds in trouble. Cases are very high here which is worrying. I'm almost scared to go out to eat!
I'm to be in hospital for 2 nights which seems a bit short to me but I know other places do hip replacement as day surgery. Eeek! What a thought.
Glad your Ian will be home soon and he's got someone to look after him.
Well it's the weekiversary of finding our poor cat dead at his food bowl. I'm still in shock really. It was awful. The flat seems too big without him. I know he was only a pet but he felt like a big part of our family. I posted that other thread in an attempt to cheer myself up. What a mistake to make! I won't trust many any more.

Good Evening; Please don’t visit Sydney just yet! The experts are finally calling it a lock down; from midnight for 7 days subject to review of course. Most of the map shown on Telly is coloured red and by way of contrast it extends out to the West to the Blue Mountains.
Panic buying followed the announcement, what’s new!,? despite assurances that toilet rolls , amongst other things are in plentiful supply!
TV News this evening showed where the demarcation line between two suburbs showed locked down shops on one side of the street and coffee shops still open on the other side.. I’m sure some fraternisation will be arranged!
State politicians have just been given a sustantial pay rise which hasn’t impressed anyone, especially small-business owners and unemployed employees with no income.
Of course, you can’t blame the pollies! It was awarded by an independent tribunal! So far, at least two have said they will give their increase to charities! confused

rafichagran 1966 was also a momentous year when I changed jobs to one in Ealing and got lost on my way home trying to find an entrance to the M4. No GPS then!
I won’t forget my first day, coinciding with that Aberfan tragedy. sad
Yes! I find documentaries more “uplifting” than TV dramas, although Vera was all over those as witnessed by dozens of DVDs in the storage racks.
YouTube and my “Comedy Classics” DVDs keep me going, not forgetting Gransnet, of course! grin

Aveline Rae tells me that Ian will probably be going home on Monday! That’s incredibly quick!
Surely a hip’s worth at least a week, especially given the weather!
Cold, 13C max, but no rain despite what the forecasters said, but an icy wind.!
Well! I was just about to say I hope you’re all good friends again and jolly good company, but on second thoughts, I think I’m best off out of it! hmm
Good Health wine wine wine
