Good Morning Everyone,
Its a cloudy and wet start here in Brackley this morning .
Plans for the day , housework morning , followed by lunch and then the tour on TV , watching to see how the race unfolds .
I have got a programmed laid out for the week , with very little change in routine .
Take Care,
Mick

Hello Brocky, the abbreviations are explained under Acronyms on the front page of this website.

Marydoll Mon 28-Jun-21 19:17:10

Hi and welcome! Go to the top left hand corner and you will see a heading, Acronyms, where all will be revealed.

Brocky Mon 28-Jun-21 19:06:28

I am new to Gransnet and am flummoxed at all the abbreviations - please advise.

Scentia Mon 28-Jun-21 18:51:15

Dwmxwg. I too am in awe of how fit he keeps himself, he really does put me to shame!! In his 30’s however he was a 5 minute miler for that distance , but at 59 it is awesome ?

Dwmxwg Mon 28-Jun-21 11:03:07

Scentia I am seriously impressed with your DH’s sub 7 minute miles. I was more of a plodder but I do miss my running.
Gelisa your hare is absolutely beautiful, such skill
Nannagarra I too would love your owl in my garden, I have a few but none as impressive
kitty so glad to hear your brother is making an improvement, birthday wishes to him

Good morning all from sunny Lancashire. I’m way behind with all your news following an awful weekend of constant nausea. Feeling much better today, had a good sleep last night and the sun is shining. I shall now try to catch up! Happy Monday all ?

Grandmafrench Mon 28-Jun-21 10:50:24

Good Morning everyone from surprising Monday morning weather in the South of ??. Surprising in that I was woken by a cheeky thunderstorm. Meteo certainly got their forecast wrong. Had some rain but not enough to do any damage. Now the skies are light again and I can see blue, so normal service should be resumed very shortly. ?

Owl? Or Hare? Both please. I’d happily make space for both in my garden/on my bed. You’re very clever, Gelisa. Chainsaws are so scary. I could relate some shocking tales - but won’t - life is quite shocking enough already. Agreed? We knew a gardener in Normandy who was a whizz and if we took down a tree, he’d be able to turn up and create a garden seat from the stump, quick as a wink. His chainsaw was more like a magic wand!

Be kind to your poor hand, GrandmaB Hope it eases today. Should you/have you considered some help for that knee, holly? My DH wore a very good support for his until very recently. His knee took over his life, though, and ruined his sleep until he had it drained and received a steroid injection. Told it would never have eased otherwise due to the fluid. He’s ok now and almost back to normal. Hope you have a better week.

Wretched weather can lie in wait for visitors, muse. Makes life so unnecessarily complicated. Hope you get the sun and a chance to enjoy your spectacular countryside together very soon. Good to just be together at last, though?

I finally looked at the incident which flattened so many in the TdeF Mick. What a stupid and irresponsible thing to do. They’ll doubtless throw the book at that woman. I stood on a nice, mown, flat grass verge outside my garden gates to film the peloton as it rushed past the other year. I felt quite intimidated by the pressure the riders created as they passed…one wrong move towards them by me would have caused a disaster for sure. Waving placards at the tv cameras? I don’t think so…especially as a Police motorcycle outrider was parked in my driveway! It was a very exciting experience, though, and our area benefitted from lots of newly re-surfaced roads because of the Race as well! Enjoy the feast of ?‍♀️ You’ve planned.

Have the best Monday, everyone, and better health to all those who need it. Thinking of you all. ?‍♀️???

Jaxjacky Mon 28-Jun-21 10:43:42

Welcome rjack you can have some of our rain if you like!
Lovely hare Gelis I wouldn’t have the patience. Pleased your DH is improving harri. And MrMdoll survived his birthday!

Nannytopsy Mon 28-Jun-21 09:33:50

Good morning Mick and all his followers from a cloudy Suffolk.
It looks like a fairly even split between the TdF and Wimbledon today, no doubt with some football later!
Glad to hear there is some improvement in your brother Kitty .
Today is acupuncture and shopping. We are going to some friends tomorrow but have another friend coming to stay within hours of our return on Thursday. Meals are planned and we will get as much done in advance as we can. We don’t see anyone for weeks then two at once! We shall do our first Covid tests before we travel, just in case.
The weather is unusually fine up in Scotland it seems - I think we have your weather! And Luneberg sounds a bit too warm for me - you will notice the difference when you get to the UK Amselerin !
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

Nannagarra Mon 28-Jun-21 09:27:43

Coconut shrimps Greyduster? A match made in heaven!

Nannagarra Mon 28-Jun-21 09:19:50

Sun’s gone in now!

Nannagarra Mon 28-Jun-21 09:13:12

Good morning from dry and sunny Sefton.
Sorry to read your hand isn’t improving Grandmabatty. Rather you than me with an inquisitive DGS and a man with a chain saw. Years ago we met a man from your side of the border who carves with this tool. From him DH bought me an owl - pic might be forthcoming iykwim. Loving the hare Gelisa; keep a tight hold as I have a handbag big enough! ?Like amselerin I may watch the England-Germany game tomorrow. The memory of the 1966 game, watching it with my dad while we ate tinned tomato soup (classy, what?), abides. Happy birthday to kittylesterbro. I’m so pleased that he, like mrharri, is improving. Understandably your hearts must be swelling with grandmothers’ pride Baubles and Grandmadinosaur.
DH has suggested a trip to Home Bargains and enticed me with the idea of replacing some solar lights. He knows I can’t resist either! Talk about knowing which buttons to press…
Have the best day possible. x

aggie Mon 28-Jun-21 09:01:06

Good Morning everyone, dull and cool here , but promises of higher temperatures later
Lovely to have a surprise visit GrannySomerset , nothing like GC to cheer one up , my youngest GS is 13 but still likes to pop in and get my messages , nothing to do with the tip !

muse Mon 28-Jun-21 08:58:40

Sorry for typos in my post. Mental note: do preview before posting. ?

Grandmajean Mon 28-Jun-21 08:52:23

Gwenisgreat didn't appear in bold. Hope this one does as it never shows bold in my preview so I never know !

Grandmajean Mon 28-Jun-21 08:51:18

Dry here in Cheshire but grey and dull.
Melrose is beautiful,*Gwen*. We have spent some lovely holidays there.
What a cute little boy Grandmadinosaurand how proud he looks.
Will read rest of posts later.
Have a day !

GrannySomerset Mon 28-Jun-21 08:49:44

Awaiting a call from the dishwasher repair man in the hope he can come today but am not holding my breath. Amazing how frustrating its absence is though the washing machine would be much more serious.

Damp start to the day so the washing will have to be dried indoors but the thought of Wimbledon is something to look forward to - weather permitting.

Lovely surprise yesterday with a short visit from exDiL and two GCs who had been weekending not far away. Children are growing up fast and put themselves out to be entertaining so a great boost for me.

ginny Mon 28-Jun-21 08:49:11

Good morning.
Dull and wet here in N. Bucks.
Last minute washing is in the machine and packing to do today. We are off in our tourer with friends in theirs, to visit some more friends who moved to the south west 6 years ago. The old vocal cords will be busy as we haven’t seen them for two years. Our children ball grew up together and all of us have spent many happy holidays together.
Will make a quick trip over to see little Grandsons to get my cuddle fix that has to last until we get back in just under 3 weeks.
Harrigran pleased that your DH was a little improved yesterday .
Wishing all a good day with smiles along the way.

Greyduster Mon 28-Jun-21 08:48:36

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a grey, cool but dry (at the mo) South Yorkshire. The rash on my ankle, when it settled down, revealed two enormous insect bites. They itch like the very devil. Herbaceous borders are full of things lying in wait for you, it seems! We had a lovely lunch yesterday with GS and his parents. He persuaded me to share a starter with him so we had coconut shrimps. A new one on me but delicious. Today is mostly ironing for me.
Well done to your grandson, Grandmadinosaur. Lovely photo. He looks like a champion in the making! Have a good day folks.

dragonfly46 Mon 28-Jun-21 08:44:57

Good morning - chucking it down here and the pile of stuff I put out for Air Ambulance is getting soggy.

Good news about your brother Kitty.

Need to pop into town and pick up a laundry basket I ordered. We were going for a coffee but suspect DH will stay in the dry.

Best wishes to all especially those who read but don’t post anymore.

Anniebach Mon 28-Jun-21 08:43:44

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Elizabeth1 Mon 28-Jun-21 08:37:14

Sorry for the typos etc I posted too soon .

Elizabeth1 Mon 28-Jun-21 08:35:30

Good morning everyone from a tiny overcast start to the day here on the east coast of Fife, it’s expected to become really warm later on. Yesterday’s weather was indeed much warmer than I at first anticipated.

We had a most enjoyable church visit yesterday followed by a super filled bacon roll and chips looking out to sea then home to perspire in the conservatory after a short nap of course in my lovely cool luxurious super king size bed.

And no I couldn’t eat any more until supper time when I managed a slim slice of cheese and jam on a piece of toast. (A miners piece) for anyone who doesn’t know or has experienced this. It’s very tasty ?

It’s the start of Wimbledon today I guess I might start to watch it seeing as how I’ve lots of free time today I’m not expecting to get any interruptions smile I’ll be rooting for Andy Murray grin] he comes across as a dour Scotsman but I’m warming up to him . grin

Have a lovely day all you who may be fearful of what’s going on around you well soon be FREE smile

Good morning all from Carnoustie. Dull this morning hopefully will clear into another sunny day. Busy weekend in the garden watering it everyday. Was to play golf with my Ds and DGS but they have had to call off. Maybe look at buying some summer curtains, then have a coffee somewhere.
Take care everyone hope all is well with all.
