Another chance to shop in peace on saturday evening starting at 8pm
Changing from a Manual car to an Automatic after driving manual for around 50 yrs
Recalled for a further appointment after a routine mammogram
With England in action against Germany in the Euro's football tournament kicking off at 5pm.
I have this vision of football fans trying to get to the super markets to "stock up"
and get away early from work in time for the kick off.

So glad my DH has a TV in his study. I cannot stand football (now Rugby Union is another matter!!)
I am happily watching Wimbledon in the sitting room & he is happily watching football so we are both happy.
Well not much queuing in Aldi between five and six. Plenty of beer left too!
Bliss! 5pm and the sun had come out for the first time all day. I needed dishwasher tablets so what better time to walk down to Lidl and get some?
The shop was virtually empty - I only saw two other customers. It was so pleasant that I began to wish I needed more shopping!
Another pleasant walk home, enjoying the relative peace of decreased traffic, and that's the daily exercise box ticked too.
Can we have more 5pm football, please?
Never mind the sport, there’s often nothing on live TV I want to watch, but there always iPlayer/All4 etc. or something I’ve recorded to turn to.
Not the same, I know, but I’m reminded of dh’s old aunt (long gone now) who phoned me full of wrath one afternoon because her favourite Countdown wasn’t on.
It was the day of 9/11.?
I did try to explain about the dreadful thing that had happened, but all I got was, ‘I don’t care! I want Countdown!’
nipsmum
I am someone who loves watching football. If you don't like it, Sky, Netflix and Freeview have other programmes to watch. Let those of us who enjoy it, watch it the times it is on. Tennis once a year, Football Euros every second year, world cup once on 4 years. No one holds a gun to your head to make you watch sport.
Why not put the sport on Sky, Netflix and Freeview, and let those of us who enjoy drama and documentaries enjoy those? We pay our licence fees too.
I am not a footie fan. I do not understand why it has to be on every channel. I do not understand why we have to have a pre match and post match post mortem. And why the TV channels think everyone likes it. I am not too bothered about Wimbledon either but will watch the likes of Murray for a while. So I am a bah humbug. My plan tonight is to go in another room, either read or watch another channel on TV or I may even have a really early night.
My Pain Management Dr rang me this morning to say they had a cancellation for 6.45 was I interested. Yes I said not realising that the football was on. So Now Mr Barmey is watching on TV and will then follow the end bit on the radio, at least the roads will be empty.
I'm with Katy1950 I hate tennis and not keen on football either although may cheer on Italy in the final? if they get there.
I hate the week after Wimbledon, I feel totally bereft.
Whilst not being a football fan, I have enjoyed many of the games so far. I think most of the fans expect us to be knocked out tonight. It doesn’t stop them supporting their national team.
Luckily we have some good cricket and rugby union and the Olympic Games coming up to keep us armchair fans going.
Perhaps it’d be a good time for all the sport haters to do their shopping.
Each to their own. I love watching sport and don't like: reality tv, soaps, most of the modern dramas. Why do people complain about sport on tv? There are many other options on freeview. Or maybe just do something else for a few days? I read, listen to music, garden, bake... there are many other options and, before long, the football and tennis will be over.

I agree Kim and can I also put a plug in for books? There really are so many choices we all have.
With so many channels and box sets etc., isn't it wonderful that not one of us has to watch anything we don't want to. Freedom indeed and not one single complaint necessary.
Brilliant, innit? Footies AND Wimbledon - bliss.
Just sent ds in the US the link to the ultimate Skinner/Baddiel vid of them singing Three Lions, which will be my earworm today.
I reckon watching England tonight might be as nerve wracking as watching Andy Murray last night, but I'll be delighted if the end result is the same
I’m a great sports fan so this is my happy fortnight watching tennis and football which are my two favourites.
I’m with you foxyferret, given that Wimbledon is a major world sporting event as are the Euros I’m glad they are not on a pay to view channel.
Surely people can find either something else to do or something to watch on iPlayer for a coupleof weeks
I love football and tennis. I know a lot of it is on right now but for the rest of the year I have to put up with boring soaps, stupid reality shows, cooking, quizzes etc non of which I have any interest in. Each to their own, if you like soaps etc I won’t have a go but as soon as we get some sport, complaints are always made. I cannot afford Sky sports so I am very happy when we get some on the Beeb. You can always turn off the tv if you don’t like sport, I hardly have mine on in the evening because it is such rubbish.
All major television companies think we all want to watch and hear about sport all summer.
It does not matter as much now, where we can watch practically anything we want over the computer, but it used to be quite dreadful.
You would think it would pay television to find out exactly what percentage of their viewers would prefer some alternative form of entertainment, and to provide it.
They are still apparently living in the world of the 1950s as far as sport goes.
Historically speaking, countries all over Europe started encouraging sports as healthy outdoor excercise for the masses somewhere around 1900.
I suspect the aim was also to leave less time for workers to organize themselves in trade unions!
Quite a lot of public money was expended on sports facilities at that time and sports and gymnastics were included in school syllabuses. This was done with the laudable aim of improving the general popuation's health. TB was still rife at the time, so encouraging people to do some sort of outdoor activity in their very limited free time, after a 60 hour working week, and with maximum one week's summr holiday a year (many had less), was necessary,
Now it strikes me we hardly need to encourage sports any more. I personally would like to see some of the money used on sports diverted to theatres and orchestras, but that isn't likely to happen.
Well to be fair JohnD most of the talk is by arm chair experts, not the actual players.
As for what will they do if Germany win?
Cry into their beer I expect

My DS, currently living in Italy and on holiday near Rome, has just messaged to let me know he will be watching “in a bar with some Germans”. Don’t envy him which ever way it ends!!??????? v ??
What will all these people do if Germany win? After all the hype etc. it is most likely they will. I would always say to players, talk less to the press and save your energy for the match.
I agree felice they drivel on for hours bigging up their part. So boring.
What if they do? Why does it matter to you?
Lucky them. I'm working until 8pm. Gutted
