It is doing my head in. Surely if someone makes a mistake, they take responsibility for it and just say sorry. Why do they have to say things like

I'm sorry you feel that way

It is/was unfortunate BUT

That is unusual, no one has ever raised that before

Protocol suggests otherwise

etc etc

never an apologise or admission of wrong doing, just buck passing. It's infuriating

I can only apologise you feel that way ARGHHHHHHHHH

I don't want you to apologise for how I feel. I want you to do your bloody job properly fgs

Is it a full moon? confused

I believe that the reason that people won't apologize is because it's admitting blame. Where there's blame there's a claim.

Exactly, it is admitting blame and you open yourself for a lawsuit

And your professional indemnity insurance won’t cover you.

JaneJudge
Did nobody ever tell you, if/ when you have a road accident ( and it is your fault) never admit liability.

It is recommended when the police in the US stops you, don't even say "ok" to their questions.

Hopefully I wont be in a car accident or get pulled over by US police grin

I went out and met a friend and now feel fine

I think the worst culprit is the BBC,
its a error of judgement

Oh how agree with this . I worked in front of the public for years and tried to always say sorry about a problem . I note every time something is wrong or I take a faulty item back if anyone just says sorry. I had a big problem with RBS and was passed from pillar to post and not one person said " I am sorry about this " . I complained to the bank pointing this out and the reply came back with no mention of being sorry.
