I don’t know what I was expecting but it wasn’t this odd lump of horrible coloured metal. The clothes don’t seem to suit her as I remember her but perhaps it’s just my aged recollection. Still as long as her sons are happy with it, that’s all that really matters. Is the statue going to be on public display?

I'd have liked it to depict one of her iconic moments such as when she shook hands with the aids patient, or walked in minefields with her visor on, or stood on the hospital steps cuddling her babies (it could be ambiguous as to which one).
... and I think the material should have been something smoother - marble maybe as someone suggested, with an arbour to protect it from weather (and pigeons!).
"Could be better!"

But her sons, who commissioned it, preferred it to depict her in a photo that I think was used as a Christmas card, and also with children. I guess it was up to them.
