Restarting the “funnies” thread that Urms got going earlier in the year.

That’s one of my favourites NannyJan. I’ve printed it off and have it in my kitchen window and often read and smile.

Did anyone read the funny story of why dogs sniff each other’s bottoms in a Sunday Telegraph supplement the other week? I loved it but will only repeat it if someone wants to hear in case you’ve all read it.

fevertree Wed 07-Jul-21 11:49:34

Yes, please! I take my neighbour's dog for walks and he is a sniffer ... smile. I've not heard / read the joke.

dragonfly46 Wed 07-Jul-21 11:54:03

Yes - my DD's dog licks other dogs balls - we think he is gay grin

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 07-Jul-21 13:23:53

Right, here goes:
Once upon a time all the dogs went to a big, grand, posh ball. On entering the room they had to hang up their bottoms because it was so posh. Hooks were provided by the door for the bottoms. The ball was in full swing when a fire broke out. All the dogs rushed to the door and just grabbed the first bottom they could find. Luckily they all escaped unhurt, but needless to say, most got the wrong bottom, which is why to this day they sniff each other’s bottoms, trying to find theirs.

There’s a children’s book with the story: The Great Dog Bottom Swap by Peter Bently.

So this is the explanation dragonfly!

My idea of decluttering

fevertree Wed 07-Jul-21 15:19:03

PinkCosmos I sent my daughter a text recently asking whether I could get rid of an item she had given me (or did she want it back); she replied with Marie Kondo says you can thank it and throw it away grin.

(I did recycle it ...)
