Ok I have found a few advantages of wearing a mask! So I am starting off with:
1. Not having to pull the stray hairs out of my chin ?

BlueSky Wed 07-Jul-21 12:30:43

Definitely makes me look younger! But even with sunglasses hat and mask I am instantly recognised! confused

Doctor I visited recently had taped her mask on across the bridge of her nose. Stopped the steaming up.

Hiding the hairs on one's chinny chiin chin, if you forget to pull them out or can't be bothered, is a definite advantage.

Also, I am currently having a lot of pain in my jaw, which the dentist thinks is a TMJ problem. For some reason, it helps a bit if I open my mouth slightly. With my mask on, I can wander along like a goldfish and nobody knows.

Please please tell me the secret of NOT getting steamed up glasses. Nothing seems to work.

grandtanteJE65 Wed 07-Jul-21 12:55:51

I have tried both remedies for misted up glasses due to wearing a mask, and neither works .

What am I doing wrong?

Tightening the elastics a little does make a slight difference to the mist, but not much.

Having read all your wonderful replies, personally I still can't wait to go out without having to wear a mask.

Daftbag1 Wed 07-Jul-21 13:03:28

So, so many benefits; stray hairs, AND no chins for a start!

nipsmum Wed 07-Jul-21 13:04:54

I find they cause hot flushes even though only you know about them,

Daftbag1 Wed 07-Jul-21 13:06:25

Ref Steaming up, I've found having masks fitted over the bridge of my n o set, and putting mask on BEFORE specs which then sit ON the mask works for me!

I remember working in an operating theatre when I was in my 20s and had a real crush on an anaesthetist who had the most gorgeous eyes. When I eventually saw him without a mask on, he had a huge hooked nose, and I was totally put off

Sadgrandma Wed 07-Jul-21 13:44:09

MyDH bought some wipes on Amazon that stop his glasses misting up. They work wonderfully

MarinaL Wed 07-Jul-21 13:59:09

Yes agree with Lin52! Lost a front crown and the post to stick it on! Was without front tooth for 2 weeks so masks were a life saver.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Wed 07-Jul-21 14:51:56

My face flushes quite a bit at the slightest thing or nothing at all so I rather like hiding behind it.

Cagsy Wed 07-Jul-21 15:55:44

Absolutely nothing, I hate them with a passion

4allweknow Wed 07-Jul-21 16:08:02

LynneH For specs do not use washing up liquid to stop misting. I have been an advocate of this for a few months since the first lockdown until my optician gave me a right telling off when I told her what I did. Apparently wash/up affects the glazing on the lenses and could disrupt the prescription. Told to use a proper spray or cloth intended to reduce misting. Lukewarm water for basic cleaning with a clean cloth (silk if possible) and definitely not the end of a sleeve for wiping dry. A mask with a metal bridge fitted just high enough on the nose to enable your glasses to go on top usually works.

What’s your trick AGAA4?

Ellie Anne Wed 07-Jul-21 16:17:39

Since I think I am ugly it has been good for me

leeds22 Wed 07-Jul-21 16:23:49

Not having to worry that I look miserable which, unfortunately, is my default facial expression. Now having to practise smiling.

Daffydilly Wed 07-Jul-21 16:33:46

I can mouth rude words to people and they're blissfully oblivious. It's a great stress reliever. I could be in trouble though, when masks are off, if I forget I'm not wearing one. ?

Mouthing obscenities to ignorant oiks that come too close or don’t wear a mask without fearing for my life.

Oh yes! A friend posted on FB yesterday that she would miss her mask; she would no longer be able to mouth F* Off! at people that irritated her!
A mask and a pair of sunglasses is my way now, all you see of me is my interesting and expressive eyebrows. Just like Gromit, I can express many opinions with them.

Northerngirl28 Wed 07-Jul-21 18:36:30

Singing along to the supermarket music and realising no one can hear me or see my mouth moving. Quite lifted my spirits. Also smiling to myself without looking creepy!

Sardinia2020 Wed 07-Jul-21 18:48:27

Don’t have to smile

grannyrebel7 Wed 07-Jul-21 18:56:13

I would like the tip to stop glasses steaming up too please smile

JadeOlivia Wed 07-Jul-21 19:18:39

I can smile at everyone I see without people thinking there' s something amiss. Definitely hum, talk to myself ...
