Welcome to Thread II!

We companionably mused, gossiped and waffled about Royalty, and vaguely related things for 1000 posts!

Starting with names; and ending on them them…
and in between covered everything from Adam Faith to Scottish Country Dancing!

So, as before, God Bless this Ship and All who Sail in her! ??

Sparklefizz Sun 25-Jul-21 11:26:56

Yes, Fanny, exactly.

Callistemon Sun 25-Jul-21 11:16:58

Interesting, FannyCornforth

FannyCornforth Sun 25-Jul-21 11:14:52

He’s starting to come across like a member of a cult.

I wrote something like this on Mumsnet last year:

Imagine that Harry was Princess Harriet, the much loved daughter of Diana, who’d been swept off her feet by a whirlwind romance with a charismatic American actor with a complex past; and who also swept Harriet away from her family, friends and home…

The public and press would be screaming Coercive Control from the rooftops

Ellianne Sun 25-Jul-21 11:11:27

There's a big juxtaposition in that Harry is at pains to call himself a "man", but is also behaving like a toddler throwing his toys out of his pram when he doesn't get his way.
In the programme last night, someone said the purpose of the Oprah interview might have been to extract an apology from the RF for the way in which Meghan had been treated. Because that apology hasn't been forthcoming, Harry is now going all out to reveal everything that he thinks is bad about them.

Anniebach Sun 25-Jul-21 11:05:28

I fear for him, his father and brother must be so concerned

Ellianne Sun 25-Jul-21 11:03:44

Callistemon

He is just so very naive, isn't he.

In a way, I feel sorry for him, poor sap.

I agree with you and FC, and I felt the same watching Harry in clips last night on TV. Admittedly the programme was all about Meghan, but he did look rather unhappy in the eyes at times.

FannyCornforth Sun 25-Jul-21 10:59:21

Me too Callistemon
I honestly think that he may be having some sort of breakdown.
He looks very strange around the eyes.
I predict many twists and turns along the way.

trisher

Nah They'll get Oprah or some other big name won't they?

You may be a big name, trisher, for all we know!!

grin

FannyCornforth Sun 25-Jul-21 10:51:51

I’ve heard that Cressida Bonas isn’t best pleased about it.
I should imagine that it’s going to keep a lot of lawyers very busy

Sparklefizz Sun 25-Jul-21 10:49:23

His Army mates are warning him not to mention them or they will spill the beans about him. Now, if they wrote a tell-all book, I might read it but I've heard enough from H & M to last me the rest of my life.

Anniebach Sun 25-Jul-21 10:47:50

I think saying the book to be published after the death of the Queen is a warning shot , or blackmail

eazybee Sun 25-Jul-21 10:37:19

I am just disappointed that a publishing company such as Penguin should waste so much money to secure such trash.

trisher Sun 25-Jul-21 09:42:03

Oh Callistemon I can see it now shot around their home in whereever it is, with stills of the places they have left behind (pictured in the pouring rain). Do you think they'll let me shoot the video?

Callistemon Sat 24-Jul-21 23:35:55

trisher

I think they'l be aiming at the American market anyway. They are after all the 21st century embodiment of the term "Go West Young Man"- but now we have to add women as well!

This thread keeps edging towards a musical theme!
Now The Pet Shop Boys - Go West

Do you think Harry and Meghan will bring out a cover version as their theme tune?

trisher Sat 24-Jul-21 18:29:28

Alegrias1

What a trooper.

It's a hard job but someone's got to do it! (and Uncle Andy got a bit carried away)

Ellianne Sat 24-Jul-21 17:51:39

it will not be released until after the Queen’s death (nice)
Well, I hope she intends living a jolly long time just to annoy him! My guess is that the book will criticise Charles' awful parenting skills which will be blamed on his own experiences as the son of The Queen and The DofE.

Alegrias1 Sat 24-Jul-21 12:51:04

What a trooper.

Anniebach Sat 24-Jul-21 12:16:19

Harry chose to step up

trisher Sat 24-Jul-21 11:43:01

I think he probably understands that the media will have a go at him. I think it's also possible that the RF understand the "good royal, bad royal" phenomena and they may actually be playing it. As we're not allowed to discuss the RF life expectancy I'll only say that keeping Charles popular is vital. Uncle Andy's gone a bit too far at being bad and must be kept out the way so H had to step up!

I think you're right, Annie and that's why he was allegedly "shocked" when he came over for Prince Philip's funeral and found that family members shunned him.

The Daily Record: According to the Mail on Sunday, Princess Anne, Prince Edward and his wife Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, did not acknowledge him before or during the service at Windsor Castle.

The Sun: Sophie Wessex had ‘lengthy chat’ with Prince Harry after Philip’s funeral & insists ‘we are still family no matter what'

Gosh, who are we to believe on such an important topic? shock

FannyCornforth Sat 24-Jul-21 11:27:41

Molly yes, me too
It doesn’t bother me with uber-celebs like Katie Price, the ones where it’s immediately understood that they didn’t write the thing.
But I do wonder about all the others like Alan Titchmarsh, Nadine Dorries, and pretty much every female comedian, who suddenly realise that they’ve got a natural ability to write best selling fiction

Mollygo Sat 24-Jul-21 11:19:39

Probably the latter. The only good thing about this book is that Harrtvisnt claiming he’s writing it. I often wonder about all these celebrities who write books.
