I’m no royalist but I thought it was lovely to see Prince William leap into the air when England scored. It was pure abandoned joy. No airs and graces. No polite clapping. Just a big fat yessss!! Brilliant. The little one was fun too. And Kate looked like she was actually enjoying it and not putting it on. 10/10.

theworriedwell, I meant that I have no interest in what royal children, or any other children, wear at football matches in other countries. Maybe I didn’t make that very clear.

Yes I thought that was what you meant. I agree I can't see anything worth commenting on about what a child wears to a match.

janeJudge I think the RF are quite abstemious, especially when working, and the Duchess of Cambridge would not stay so slim if she made a habit of gobbling up the canapes.

that really made me laugh grin

I think what peasblossom posted must be true and she had to isolate from the 30th. I can't imagine her breaking the rules either! smile

theworriedwell, he is fine. I thought he had hayfever blush the LFT was negative but I sent for a PCR test as he said he knew the people next door at uni had covid and I thought to be on the safe side it was better to do a PCR. He then said he felt awful, headache, cough, a bad cold...but then after a couple of days was fine. He was well when the PCR test came back positive. I'm sorry your son has been so ill sad had he had any vaccinations? Mine had his 12 days before (Pfizer) I don't know if it would have made any difference or not. It seems very random how people are affected

It says a lot about the family unit when a little boy wants to dress like his Dad and wants to hug his mother with joy when his team score a goal. I agree with you Kamiso William and Kate are doing a wonderful job of raising their family.

Kate probably did do the full 10 days - I am sure she would not bend the rules it would soon be made public. Don't know why you are all getting so het up about it.

Kamiso Mon 12-Jul-21 10:28:52

George looked delighted to be there and seemed very happy in his suit. Can’t see what the problem is.

DD2 would have worn her Laura Ashley party dress all day and every day, DD1 had to be levered out of a pair of Levi dungarees and DS would save up for months to buy whatever he had set his heart on.

William and Catherine are doing a great job!

maddyone Mon 12-Jul-21 10:27:02

JaneJudge, now I’m puzzled. Prince Harry was definitely released both times after five days. Is that just for travellers maybe? If that’s the case, then Catherine would have had to do the full ten days wouldn’t she? I’m puzzled!

Jane I hope your son is doing OK. I was shocked at how awful my son was when he had it. Being young and fit doesn't stop it being a nasty infection for some.

theworriedwell Mon 12-Jul-21 10:20:35

Thanks Jane that makes it clear. I guess Catherine's contact was at least 12 days ago if she could go to the tennis on Saturday.

I haven't got the app, my phone is too old, so I didn't know much about it.

Good grief you are all feeling it this morning! Nothing Grandma70 said was passive aggressive or otherwise. Lighten up and give the girl a break!

I agree. Pretty shocked at some of the snippy unpleasant posting on this thread.

JaneJudge Mon 12-Jul-21 10:16:17

this is the advice

^If you've been told to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace
Self-isolate immediately if either:

you get a text, email or call from NHS Test and Trace telling you to self-isolate
you get an alert from the NHS COVID-19 app telling you to self-isolate
Your self-isolation period includes the day you were last in contact with the person who tested positive for COVID-19 and the next 10 full days.

It's a legal requirement to self-isolate if you are told to by NHS Test and Trace. You could be fined if you do not self-isolate^

It doesn't matter if you test negative, you still have to isolate for 10 days.

further information here

I am not posting this to be pedantic btw, we are in the same situation and it is quite confusing. But we cannot stop isolating until tomorrow even though we have all tested negative (apart from my positive son obviously)

theworriedwell Mon 12-Jul-21 10:10:00

Well that seems very normal to me Maddyone. Having said that I had one who wore red wellies to everything for years and another who went through a phase of wearing oversized black clothes to everything so maybe I'm unlikely to be surprised at a shirt and tie.

maddyone Mon 12-Jul-21 10:06:03

the worriedwell, no!

theworriedwell Mon 12-Jul-21 10:04:47

Why would it matter if people from other countries thought anything about what any child wears to a football match in England? I admit I don't know much about football in general but I can't imagine anyone being that interested in what children wear to a football match. Do you have any opinions about what French/German/Brazilian/Canadian children wear to football matches?

maddyone Mon 12-Jul-21 09:59:26

With regard to Catherine’s quarantine, I believe that you can pay for a test on the fifth day, and be released if it’s negative.
Prince Harry used this twice, he only quarantined for five days for Philip’s funeral and again, five days only, for the unveiling of Diana’s statue.

dragonfly46 Mon 12-Jul-21 09:57:59

We don't actually have the date of when Kate was exposed to the virus so we can only speculate. She was at Wimbledon presenting the prizes on Saturday so I am sure she has done everything by the book!

Ilovecheese Mon 12-Jul-21 09:53:00

I don't understand what was so bad about Grandma70s post. It didn't criticise anybody, if anything it was supportive of the child's parents.
It certainly did not deserve that level of dislike.

Casdon Mon 12-Jul-21 09:48:54

The joys of Test and Trace! I know somebody who got the notification to isolate 8 days after the actual contact, so he only needed to isolate for two days, which seems pointless, although he did comply.

Peasblossom

I believe the contact was on June 30th trisher. Catherine was informed when the contact tested positive in July 2nd and left Wimbledon straight away.

ok that would make sense smile

JaneJudge Mon 12-Jul-21 09:41:36

trisher

I'm still trying to work out how you can be in contact with Covid on July 2nd, self isolate for the required 10 days and go to a cup final on the 11th. Maybe marrying into the RF gives you the ability to time travel????

I wondered the same trisher as my household has had covid. I picked him from uni 1st July and he took a pcr Saturday 3rd after developing symptoms and tested positive for covid. We ordered pcr test when he got his result (weds) and the rest of us were told today we are all negative smile but we still have to isolate until tomorrow? tbh I'm confused. School wont let my youngest back until the 19th

This is what the thread was about - yes, although I only had one eye on the football [gasp] I did see that they were enjoying it and not just politely applauding.

JaneJudge Mon 12-Jul-21 09:36:57

All of them in that section were dressed smart/formally, don't they go in the VIP lounge and quaff champers and eat canapes before the match?
